Re: PGAL Check in 10/18/17
Any appointments coming up?
Not until the 30th.
Questions?
Nope.
How are you doing? (Dear diary posts and venting are welcome and encouraged here)
I'm doing okay. I'm a little nervous about my NIPT results (probably won't get until the 30th unless there's a problem). I'm also a little bummed that the one my doctor uses only tests for three trisomy types and nothing else.
GTKY: Do you speak any other languages? What language(s) do you want to learn?
Unfortunately, I don't speak any other languages. I was somewhat conversational in Arabic (plus basic reading/writing), but I lost everything I knew. I took Spanish in junior high, French in high school, Latin in college, and Arabic as a study abroad language. I wish at least one stuck lol! In addition to retaining those languages, I would like to learn Italian.

Any appointments coming up?
I have my 12 week appointment tomorrow and my NT scan on Friday, so I'll have a doppler reading tomorrow hopefully to calm me down a bit before Friday's ultrasound.
Questions?
Not right now, surprisingly.
How are you doing? (Dear diary posts and venting are welcome and encouraged here)
Decently, but I'm putting a lot of pressure on this week's appointments to calm me down. It doesn't make much sense since my most recent loss wasn't until 20w5d, but I need something. I keep wanting to order some new maternity clothes, or look at baby stuff, and then convince myself to wait until after Friday's ultrasound.
Also, I feel like I'm in between being a FTM and a STM...I've obviously never raised a baby or dealt with a three year old or any of that, but I have been pregnant for a total of over 37 weeks at this point, so I hate saying FTM when questions ask that. It feels like I'm not acknowledging my daughter, especially, even though she was inside of me for five months. It's silly, just one of those weird emotional hang-ups.
GTKY: Do you speak any other languages? What language(s) do you want to learn?
I lived in Japan for a year and was pretty fluent by the end. I want to get back to Japanese, since it's been 15 years and I'm barely conversational at this point with no opportunity to practice. Hopefully it's like riding a bike.
My local elementary school is Spanish immersion, so I'm guessing I'll be learning Spanish eventually too!
Any appointments coming up? I have my appt witth the MFM next Monday, which I am anxious for.
Questions? Not at the moment.
How are you doing? (Dear diary posts and venting are welcome and encouraged here) I am just annoyed lately. If I could have just done the bloodwork I could've had it done at 10 weeks and already had the results by now. But because stepson has a neural tube defect, I have to go to the specialist. Which annoys me even more because I didn't have to with my first child (who is perfectly healthy). Now I had to wait even longer and come up with $475 for this stupid appt.
GTKY: Do you speak any other languages? What language(s) do you want to learn? No but I really wish I knew more French. I only know a little.
abhphilly I am putting off buying another round of DHA supplements until my scan on Monday. I try to be positive but with my first loss I ordered a bunch of stuff and then it arrived throughout the month I was grieving.
Any appointments coming up?
NT scan Monday. We did the cell-free DNA test so the NT scan is just more for us to see the baby because we haven't had a scan since 6 +5 weeks.
Questions?
How are you doing? (Dear diary posts and venting are welcome and encouraged here)
I'm feeling pretty good right now. Obviously I will lose my shit over the weekend waiting for that scan.
GTKY: Do you speak any other languages? What language(s) do you want to learn?
A little Spanish to get by but not enough to carry on a conversation. I wish I knew dutch because my dad is from Holland and I would love to visit.
Any appointments coming up? NT scan tomorrow. I am both excited and nervous.
Questions? I don't think so.
How are you doing? (Dear diary posts and venting are welcome and encouraged here) I covered this in some other threads, but I have had a hard week. I just keep thinking about my friend. I am so nervous for my NT scan. My uncle is the perinatologist doing it for us (coincidence, he is who my insurance contracts with). We are going to the same office and he is the one who had to break the news to my friend last week. This sounds kind of dumb, but I am nervous about going to the same office with the same doctor knowing that the week before the appointment was so awful for my friend. My appointment isn't until 4:30 tomorrow and I know I am going to be anxious all day. I was going to announce on Monday and I got nervous and decided to wait until after the NT scan. I do, at least, feel at peace with having my friend's blessing to announce. I just hope our other friends don't think I am rude for announcing. I wish I could put a disclaimer like "Don't worry, I'm not an ass, I talked to _____ and she knows I am posting and gave me her blessing."
GTKY: Do you speak any other languages? What language(s) do you want to learn? I don't. I took Spanish in high school. I would love to learn ASL. I have worked with two ASL teachers the last two years and I think it is so cool!
@desertdweller-21 waiting is so hard. I wonder why they don't screen for anything else.
@abhphilly Big hugs for you and FX for great appointments. I totally understand what you mean.
@sparklingdiamond that is so frustrating
@justsuzie FX for a good scan. I am glad your good results have eased your mind a little!
TW-LOSS
UGH....my friend just miscarried her baby @ 7 weeks. She has the same loss history as me....1 ectopic, 1 MMC, and some CPS. I am devastated for her. It's a tough spot to be in to grieve for her and still be happy for my baby.
edit for TW
@abhphilly I was so happy reading about your good scan! yay! Also, I understand what you mean with the FTM question. You have way more reason to feel that way than me, but I also feel a little sad and "complicated" whenever someone asks me that. Like I don't want to explain to you everything but also I feel there should be some acknowledgement.
@sparklingdiamond When is your appt with the specialist to get your bw drawn?
@justsuzie Thinking of you and your scan Monday! I'm sorry about your friend. That is such a tough spot.
@mileswithmyles I'm so glad your scan went well, and aww your DH. I'm glad you could both feel that relief.
How far along are you?
Any appointments coming up?
No not until November 8.
Questions?
Nah.
How are you doing? (Dear diary posts and venting are welcome and encouraged here)
I'm doing pretty good. I am starting to get over my frustration with this NIPT. I finally got my blood redrawn for it this morning so *hopefully* this sample gets to the lab and is able to be processed. Recap: The last few days were so frustrating because I just felt like I was chasing people down to find out answers. Labcorp tells me "no we don't have your sample it needs to be redrawn". Labcorp tells my OB "Yes we have the sample and are processing it." I call OB, they re-call labcorp. They can't get a straight answer. No one knows what is going on. OB says f it and puts in the order for the redraw. So that's where we are. Sigh. Oh well, now I'm back to waiting for results day 1.
GTKY: Do you speak any other languages? What language(s) do you want to learn?
At points in my life I've been conversational in Spanish. I lose it so quickly. My brain isn't the type to easily learn languages. My H is trying to learn French and wants me to as well. There is a small chance we may live there for a year in a few years.
Any appointments coming up?
Not until Oct 31
Questions?
How are you staying sane/positive in between appointments?
**TW Loss
Because I had an MC after seeing the heartbeat last time, it is challenging to feel fully confident that the baby is still doing ok in there!
**End TW
How are you doing? (Dear diary posts and venting are welcome and encouraged here)
Generally pretty good. Minor symptoms still. Waiting for our prenatal screening results. We just told my parents last night and told my in-laws today. It went better than I thought because I was worried about it not being as happy/excited/positive as last time. But they were all great and didn't mention the loss.
GTKY: Do you speak any other languages? What language(s) do you want to learn?
Being from Canada I know some basic French. Would love to learn Italian!
@justsuzie I am so sorry to hear about your friends loss. That would be incredibly sad and difficult to deal with since you have have a similar situation and are now heading towards your second trimester. I hope she's doing ok.
@baby_2018 I’m glad you could be happy sharing the news! Don’t worry, your apt is right around the corner! It is hard not to worry though.
Any appointments coming up? NT scan tomorrow - I of course am hoping for good results, but I really just can't wait to see the little one squirming around!
Questions?
How are you doing? (Dear diary posts and venting are welcome and encouraged here) Not bad, still a crazy person checking every time I pee for blood, listening daily for the heartbeat on the doppler, etc...but starting to talk about the future more and feel a little more confident that this kiddo is going to be joining us in 6 months!
GTKY: Do you speak any other languages? What language(s) do you want to learn? I took a lot of spanish...don't speak a lick of it
@abhphilly I'm so sorry to read you had such a late loss...I saw a lot of that with my job and my heart would crumble, wishing you lots of peace till that milestone and beyond!
@mileswithmyles congratulations on a good scan! That's so sweet about your husband, mine was my rock, till he realized how scared I was then we both were like pale, shells of people walking to our deaths when they called my name!
@justsuzie good luck tomorrow! Our babies are going to be healthy, amazing little creatures on the screen tomorrow! And I'm so sorry to hear about your friend, it's not fair. Hope she's holding up alright and you're able to grieve for her and still be excited about your progress.
@babys_2018 The only way I'm staying sane is with my fetal doppler...I know there are warnings and it's not always recommended, but hearing that heartbeat instead of wondering has been a game changer in my sanity this pregnancy after a loss.
@rachelg777 fingers crossed your test results make it where they're supposed to be and come back quick! So frustrating!
Where do all you ladies get these dopplers from?
Any appointments coming up?
Not until Nov. 16, which seems like years away
How are you doing?
Getting a little nervous about moving apartments again. We are moving this weekend and having to box up everything in the kitchen and my closets... ugh. Don't want to think about it. We are obviously hiring movers to load and unload. No way I'm picking up heavy boxes now.
GTKY: Do you speak any other languages? What language(s) do you want to learn?
I speak another language conversationally but with a heavy American accent. I do plan to raise our baby in that language and have enlisted my parents to help with that (they immigrated to the US years ago). I have heard of people who had Mexican nannies and their kids are fluent in Spanish. I think that's a great thing to provide if you're able.

I'm 10w now. This is when we found out we lost our last baby so I'm barely hanging on this week.
Refused my flu shot today, too. Even the very slight risk of it causing fetal demise is enough reason for me to hold off until second tri. My gut just wouldn't let me do it without horrific terror in my heart.
