I hate when pregnant women feel the need to add that their pregnant in every conversation. I hated random strangers and random comments mentioning it in the months after I lost my daughter and I still hate it now. Examples: I work in a coffee shop and this lady comes in and orders a decaf latte. Cool whatever. As I hand it to her she goes, I usually don’t do decaf but just found out I’m pregnant.
In the spouses group I’m in, people are always posting stuff like “Where is a good ice cream place, this pregnant momma needs some”.

I think May 2018 is the best BMB. I mean I like June because I'm here but they seem to have a lot of fun and not a lot of drama. We need more gif parties.

I think prom-posals are ridiculous. While some of them are very cute/creative, I feel like the majority of them are incredibly over the top, and more of an Instagram photo-op than anything.
@Hollyyyyy YES!! It is absolutely crazy how far some of them go!!

"Dear Lord, I would have loved to have held my babies on my lap & tell them about you, but since I didn't get the chance, would you please hold them on your lap & tell them about me?" All are welcome!
@Hollyyyyy do you watch Gray’s? This makes me think of the idiot on there with his screw up - but it wasn’t prom it was home coming or something so it was a homcoprosal or something dumb?
My unpopular opinion is probably how I never understood why ppl are so judgemental of others on social media. Idk i just let ppl be who they are its not really affecting me - but alot ppl just see their judgement as an opinion. Ehhh beauty of perception.
@yogamamabear - But what are we judging? I feel like I need to know the context before agreeing or disagreeing. Because if someone says they got drunk at 10 in the morning on a Tuesday and their kids were annoying because they wanted attention while this person was drinking, I'd totally judge them hardcore. But if someone is talking about not wanting their kid to be on a parade float because another kid fell off and passed away the year before, I wouldn't judge them at all. [Both are legit things that I've seen on my own FB feed before.]
My UO for the day (and week) is that I've done enough work already and I will not be reading any more emails or answering my phone and I will keep my door closed and sip my water and stare into space until it is time to go home.
I know it is soooo "good for you," but I just cannot stomach it. I'm currently Googling "how to cook salmon, if you don't like salmon." Productive afternoon! Suggestions are welcome.
@katykat03 I'm with you on the dislike of pumpkin spice. I like my pumpkin flavors where they belong: pies and bread.
@Hollyyyyy When did "prom-posals" become a thing? We definitely did not have them when I was in high school, but I'm old... And I too have never seen an episode of Grey's.
@llamamama14 Wordsy decor reminds me of country-chic/shabby-chic. Not my jam, either.
@izza2@Miz_Liz i can see your points it depends on whats being said. Idk guess im diff i just keep scrolling. Granted posts like drinking at 10am and being annoyed by your own kids is a lil alarming but i see ppl legit go back and forth for a day or two about what ppl post on diff sites i guess thats what im referring to. The energy investment. I just watched on a diff board about moms arguing about choosing to do NPIT and how it reflects how much you will love your child and it got nasty rather quickly. Im just reading trying to figure out whats love got to do with it *corny pun*
@LaceyBee522 do you like Asian flavors more or Italian flavors? I can reco some recipes that convinced my husband (before he became vegetarian) to eat salmon.
@LaceyBee522 have you ever tried smoked salmon? Not lox, but the smoked fillet? To me, that doesn't taste like salmon (and you can buy it presmoked at the store which makes it easy). Although, thinking about it now, I think cold smoked fish is considered off limits while pregnant.
I hate when people keep their baby's name a secret until the birth. I get it... ppl do it to avoid getting unsolicited opinions from other people. IMO, keeping it a secret makes it seem like you assume people care about your child's name more than they actually do.

We kept dd's name a secret because I knew our family would be judgy about it (and they were and made comments after she was born). Obviously now they can't imagine any other name for her but I didn't want to have to hear comments about it until dd was born. My mom also works with students so I KNOW she would complain about names she associated with kids.
I did tell a couple coworkers but they were the only ones who knew other than dh until dd was born. I haven't decided if we will do the same this time but probably will because we tend to like old fashioned, uncommon names.
@buffalove1211 we kept our sons a secret from immediate family (mostly my mother in law because she told me she should name him so it’s a name she likes. Eye roll) everyone else knew and they knew to keep it a secret from her. But we defintely didn’t do it so people would ask and we would have to respond “oh we can’t tell you”. It was purely because my mother in law is evil.
@buffalove1211 we’ve never had our kids names picked out before they were born so we’ve never had anything to tell We’re always team green so we have narrowed down lists of boy and girl names, but we don’t pick a name until after they’re born. We don’t share our lists though either... we don’t want anyone to sway us one way or another. We want to meet our LO and pick the name that best fit him or her, not the name that our family/friends liked best.
I guess my UO is sort of related to this- I can’t stand the posts that are like “help! I’m 36 weeks and we STILL don’t have a name yet!” Chill. Your baby will get a name.
@buffalove1211 Meh. We do secret names. I don't want to have opinions from family and friends. It's also fun to have something to announce since we find out the gender ahead of time. I get what you're saying though because when strangers/ acquaintances would ask if we've decided on a name I remember feeling like an AW for creating this big mystery. @LaceyBee522 Salmon's pretty hard to disguise. I have an Asian-y sauce I like. I don't have it right now but it involves honey and soy sauce. Chili powder and cayenne can also help. Smoked is technically off limits for pregos.
@emjeve How. Do. You. Stay strong as team green? I was team green for 24 hours of this pregnancy but the urge to prepare and get organized is too strong.

How all have you tried cooking it? Just a standard filet baked in the oven isn't my favorite either. I like putting soy sauce or ranch dressing on it when I'm eating it when it's prepared that way.
Fried fish is not the healthiest but so amazing! I make Salmon tempura. A basic batter and then fried. Salmon patties are really good. There are lots of different versions on Pinterest and elsewhere from creole to Asian. You can add lots of seasonings and stuff like diced onions or bell pepper to help add other flavors. I've never tried salmon quiche, but I'd like to. Chowder doesn't really hide the flavor but is probably my favorite way to eat salmon.
@LaceyBee522, admittedly I'm a salmon lover. But I strongly prefer Costco's farmed (Atlantic?) salmon fillets to things like Sockeye or others that I have bought at the grocery. I find that they are a bit more fatty and juicy. And heaven forbid someone over-cook salmon. I like to slice the Costco fillet up into single portions when I buy it and freeze in sets of two. Then I thaw a day before I want to cook, and all I do is add just a little olive oil to a non-stick pan and pan-fry with a little drizzle of soy sauce. Add a little honey or maple syrup if you like a bit of sweetness.

@llamamama14 it’s actually really easy for me! With our first I wanted everything gender neutral anyways in case we had the opposite sex later on, so the planning and organizing was easy- we did everything grey and white in the nursery (then added some pink lamps and curtains after DD1 was born) and the other baby essentials that we registered for our baby shower, I ended up liking the gender neutral options better than the gender specific options- so it worked out perfectly for us! DH would like to find out this time, but I don’t want to! I told him if he can 100% keep it to himself, he can find out... we’ll see what he decides!
@emjeve I was all pumped to be team green since its our 3rd and last chance to have that surprise but I may have to switch DD and DS rooms if this bean is a girl (DS is currently in a bigger room than DD.) It's not like I couldn't switch their rooms afterwards but I've been putting some decorating on hold since I don't know which room will be a long term boy vs. girl room. I am itching to put some floral wallpaper or stencils in one of the closets. Also if we find out I could purge half the baby clothes in my basement!
As far as cooking salmon, put it skin side down in a VERY hot pan with a bit of light oil. Watch the cooked portion sort of climb to a bit beyond halfway to the top, and then flip and cook for no more than 60 seconds longer. Texture is usually very good that way.
(For Italian version, cook salmon as above but top with an Italian salsa with lots of garlic. Basically just chopped tomatoes, red onion, garlic, lemon, fresh oregano and basil, some salt and pepper. I serve it with roasted potatoes and asparagus.)
Thanks @doxiemoxie212. I don’t like mushrooms either, but I’m willing to give it a try!! Appreciate the recipes.
@krashke I don’t blame you! Are you just taking an Omega3 supplement? I have to add, I didn’t think anything about this until I got to the “Fish” chapter in Expecing Better, so just trying to figure it out. For that matter, how important is Omega3 right now??
@llamamama14 we were green last time around and are green this time around. To me, sex doesn’t matter. I can prepare clothes-wise and decoration wise without knowing. And finding out at the end was so worth it and gave me the extra energy. Plus, there is no room for gender disappointment at all because you have this happy beautiful baby that you love regardless of sex. But I get going green is not for everyone!
Here's another: i dont judge but i have never seen a point of women having a baby and they post the baby but cover the baby's face with an emoji sticker.
i never understood that
or ppl who start FB and IG for their infants. Idk i guess it may be safe if the pages are private for fam and friends only but i rather stick to a photo album etc
