  • @clc515 +1 for never having seen Hocus Pocus! I was a kid in the 90s and it still somehow never crossed my radar.
  • Add me to the list of not watching Hocus Pocus!

    Is it on netflix?
  • I honestly don't think I've seen Hocus pocus either. We didn't really "do" Halloween when I was a kid so that's probably why I missed it. I probably didn't get onboard as an adult because I never knew it was a "thing" until internet fandoms became so prominent. I should def watch it though, it seems right up my alley.
  • Also never seen Hocus Pocus, not big on Halloween though besides the candy and pumpkins so that’s probably why! Lol. I feel like I’m becoming super lazy mom, DS is at home with me since I work from home and I’m realizing how heavily I use the TV and snacks to occupy him already. He’s just now becoming a full blown toddler and he’s getting to the point where he gets bored and vocal about it and I feel terrible that I have no activities for him. I had every intention of not being a TV mom but it’s harder than I thought....

@SarahFoley725 is right...if you have Freeform, it'll be on a million times between now and Halloween. If you have small children, I don't know if I'd watch with them. I think I saw this movie when I was about 7 but it gave my little sister who is a few years younger, nightmares. Hocus Pocus was like... the first "Disney Channel Original Movie" except it was in theaters. Not sure what the "rotten tomatoes" score is, BUT it isn't great OR terrible. I'd call it.... quotable. Kind of like Mean Girls. Except Mean Girls is one of the greatest movies of all time haha
  • I’ve been unemployed since August and I admit each week I am less and less interested in actually finding a job.
    Pregnancy Ticker
  • Now, I'll have to watch it!

I confess that I have probably bought waaay more baby outfits than necessary. I can't resist! I have an online shopping addiction, and memorizing my credit card doesn't help!

  • We have evacuees (friends) from the local fire camping in our front yard and they hang out in our tiny living room every evening. They've been there since Monday and while I'm glad that they're safe and not begruding them our house, I'm getting claustrophobic having them there. So I may say I have to put my feet up so I can go to our bedroom and watch tv or read a book in relative silence.
Do it!! I’m glad you are safe :)
  • My husband loves Hocus Pocus, but I think I was just a smidge too old for it when it came out so I never saw the massive appeal. It's a cute Halloween movie, for sure, but the worship I don't understand. I only saw it after we got married and he forced me to watch it.

@precious88 I'm just waiting for someone to say something to me about c-sections being "bad" so I can lay some smack down. I have yet to really be confronted with rude behavior this pregnancy, but I'm totally braced for it!

  • My DH hasn't seen Hocus Pocus.  We are having a viewing when it comes on Freeform.  It's horribly cheesy but I love it!

I left work at noon today so I could get some stuff done around the house.  About to take a nap instead.
  • We have two dogs. I am not a believer of animal recycling but I want to rehome one of them so badly. He was great before we had a kid in the house, but now he spends all of his time in trouble. He follows DD around constantly harassing her. He takes food out of her hand and he will jump up where ever she's eating and take the food off her plate. When she was a baby we could never even leave her on the bed because he'd jump on top of her. He has snapped at me a few times now when I get after him for taking her food. He spends like 1/2 the day in his kennel because he refuses to behave. It is making me insane.

I'm seriously worried about what having a toddler and a new baby will be like for him. He'd be way better off in a home with maybe one other dog and no kids and I would be a lot happier/my life would be way easier.
  • @SarahFoley725 Do you think some kind of trainer/obedience school would help? I'm with you and typically against re-homing animals, but if there is still no progress after trying everything I think it can be inevitable. Especially if its whats best for the doggie.

We've talked about it but we don't know if it would help because he's pretty dumb. DH doesn't want to spend the money because he's cheap and I don't want to spend the money because after 19 months of policing the dog every single day I just don't really care anymore. So FFFC part 2 I guess
  • @SarahFoley725 In the same boat with my dog. I’m dreading figuring out what to do with her when there are two babies, she’s been difficult enough with one. It’s not even really her fault, our small house and major life changes in the past couple years with new job schedules and babies have made our lives much less dog friendly for the type of dog she is and I feel bad, but it’s just hard to manage her now and she hasn’t adapted very well to the changes. We have discussed rehoming her if we could find someone we know who would love her and have plenty of time and space to give her, but we don’t know anyone so for now she’ll stay. I feel your frustration!

  • I had to rehone a dog after my first. There was nothing that would stop him from doing all those things described above and more. He was not a dog for littlenpeople sadly.
  • DH is more worried about how our dog will react than I am. We just got a baby doll and started carrying it around. The dog won’t leave my side when I have it. DH started teasing the dog, which led to some nipping, so now DH is even more freaked out. I think I need to train both of them (DH AND the dog)!

Don't be too hard on yourself. Its a tough conclusion to come to, but if everyone, including the dog, is miserable that is no good.
  • @SarahFoley725 A few years back I adopted my coworkers dog because she wasn't good with his young kids (except she spent most of her days hiding under the bed cuz she hated the noise vs being aggressive, which may be a factor). I loved the crap out of her until she passed earlier this year, and in the few years I had her she'd shaken many of her quirks (i.e. hiding at any loud noise) and even mutual coworkers who knew her before said she was much calmer. Sometimes it's better for the family and dog to rehome, if you find the right home. Small blessing I suppose - the timing was crazy when she got sick, because she did not end up having to go through the stress of loud children when we pop next year.
  • DH is out of town this week. I overslept by an hour and a half this morning and had to call my brother to come walk the dog so I wouldn’t be too late for work. At work, I had 2 pieces of birthday cake and I’m not sorry. I have every intention of getting home, taking off my bra and pants, ordering delivery for dinner, and binge watching crappy tv for the rest of the night.
This sounds like my plan for the whole weekend with the possible addition of a spray can of whipped cream beside me.
  • We had to rehome our German Shepherd with our first. She was 8 and a rescue. Best dog ever...except she didn’t like kids at all (wasn’t around them or socialized much at all as a young dog). She had a lot of territorial behaviors and was very much a one person dog. My husband and I loved her so much we got a puppy, took her to kennel club, talked to vets, etc before we had a baby. She was okay with him at first, but as soon as he started crawling and touched her toys, went by her food bowl, or touched her bed, she would growl at him. She even nipped him once and I let it go and blamed myself for not supervising them closely enough - we tried to keep them apart with baby gates, and I never left them alone in the room together - it was a pain. The second time she nipped him on the face hard enough to bruise. I’m still mad at myself for letting it go that far - he could have been seriously injured!!

    You may be my hero
  • How have so many of you never seen Hocus Pocus?! And @precious88 I always tell my husband when I hear people say things like the ridiculous c section comment, I try never to say anything like that bc you know once you say it, it’s likely going to happen! Sort of like the parents that say my child would never do X...ya...sure! Give it a week. Glad she and baby are ok though.
  • My hubby is gone to a friends for the weekend to go hunting and I'm so excited to have the whole bed to myself!!
Now if only my little guy would sleep in past 6:30!

Hocus Pocus is my movie. <3 It was a fave during my adolescence and remains so today. My older two have watched it with me, too. My husband was 15 when it came out, so still in the target age range, but he didn't see it until his mid-30s, IIRC. His parents weren't big into movies and they didn't have cable. It wasn't really on his radar back then.

    I didn’t think I had a FFFC but actually I do! A day late.

I lost 11 lbs so far this pregnancy and my doctor thanked me for staying healthy since I’m chubby. Actually I have Dunkin’s breakfast 3 times a week and eat what ever I want. I think their scale is broken or I’m getting some weird kind of good karma for being able to eat what I want and not gain weight. Ether way I’ll take it
@sunflowermama428 I'm down 15+ lbs, but it's typical for me when I start out heavier. I lost 20 lbs by 13 weeks with #4 and gained back 11 by the time I delivered. I know fluffy women can experience an increase in metabolism during pregnancy and other mechanisms that contribute to weight loss.

I was -7 lbs at 8 weeks with #2 and still -7 when I was induced at 39 weeks. She was 8 lb., 9 oz. Then dropped 15 lbs 48 hours after birth and an additional 10 lbs by two weeks postpartum.

Babe can take from my fat stores all he wants. I have plenty to spare. Lol. I gained 50 lbs during my last pregnancy, but started at a normal weight.

  • A day late because I can never think of one on Fridays, but I haven’t been to the dentist in at least 7 years and in that time I know all my wisdom teeth have come in at weird angles and I probably have 15 cavities. I have always been cavity prone and already have 15 fillings from childhood/adolescence (I promise I brush and floss, I got my teeth from my dad’s side and apparently have ‘soft enamel’ according to the dentist). I just don’t have a piggy bank for trips to the dentist now so I guess I can just try to enjoy my teeth until they all fall out. Ugh so shameful. As I sit here eating Snickers....obviously my sweet tooth is unaffected by neglect

  • I haven’t seen Hocus Pocus either. I wasn’t allowed to watch as a kid. My parents were very anti magic/Halloween.

related confession- for the same reasons the first time I went trick or treating was when I took DS two years ago. Lol.
