June 2018 Moms

What are you reading?

I am lying here wide awake and DH is snoring.  I love reading! It's how I spend time for myself and relax. I thought it might be fun to talk about books we're reading or books we've loved in the past.

So, what are you reading?
We are so excited to grow our family!

  • I have a group on FB called Divas who read you are welcome to join! I just finished  Pillars of the Earth and I'm currently reading the spell shadow Manor. I read a book a week!
  • @Dashaina that group sounds amazing! I’ll have to check it out! Was The House at the End of the Street made into a movie (I feel like I’ve seen a movie by that name...)? I hate when I don’t know that a movie is based on a book! I like to read the book before I see the movie!

  • I’ve been a little focused (read obsessed) with TTGP, pregnancy, birth and babies soooo I’ve started:

    Expecting Better

Ina Mays Guide to Child Birth

What to Expect When You’re Expecting (skimming through this one)

    I need this thread.

  • @emjeve I LOVED The Outlander series and read several of the novellas and actually have Virgin or is it Virgins on my app list as well to read.   I can't wait until Sunday for the next episode to come out for Season 3!!  And I agree about book before movie. I actually started watching Outlander before I knew it was a book.  Ha!  But honestly they are doing a fantastic job with the series.  I'm actually not sure about if it is a movie or not (the house as the end of the street) and now I'm intrigued and want to look it up right now!!

@sourkim I LOVED Pillars of the Earth and World without End...and equally enjoyed watching the mini series for both after reading the books.

@krashke I enjoyed Ina May and Hated WTEWYE .  It just seems so filled with how everything will go horribly wrong!

  • @Dashaina some women from my M16 BMB recommended Outlander and I’m so glad they did! I haven’t watched the show yet- I want to finish the series first, but I CAN’T WAIT to see it!!! Although we don’t have Starz... so hopefully I can rent it somewhere! Or maybe it will be on netflix soon...

@emjeve the first 2 seasons of outlander are on Netflix, when I saw that I got really excited because I don't have Starz either :P

    Edited because words...
  • @krashke - Loved Expecting Better. I wasn't impressed in the beginning with the TTC stuff because I felt like it was all stuff I'd already read over and over, but I definitely suggest it for the pregnancy parts.
I love that she lays it out and gives resources but let's you really choose whether you think they're worth following or not. That was my biggest complaint with TCOYF. I felt like there was no scientific evidence cited for what was being presented.

Last I heard it was not on Netflix in the US, but was in Canada and some other countries. Did they add it recently??

  • @emjeve  actually season 1 & 2 of Outlander is on Netflix!!  I don't have stars either but I found a website that shows all TV shows for free and you can download them or stream.  I usually just download because my internet with their streaming doesn't work.  Anyway if you Google "Watchseries it " and then whatever show you are looking for chances are they have it.  They definitely have outlander because that this where I am watching it.

  • @emjeve I just saw that @melly204 already answered the Outlander thing.  Yeah I am in Panama.  Well you should do the website I mentioned, because it does have ads to get to it (per click ads) you just close the ad.  I only use the link for openload.co .  Because all the others don't function for me.  Here is the link for the 3rd season of Outlander and you should be able to find 1 & 2  from there https://watchseries.do/series/outlander/season/3
