@yesthisiskim0401 My phone likes to correct my favorite curse word to "duck" or "ducking." You would think it would have learned by now that I do not mean to use either of those words.

I'm sorry I offended you with my comments. I'd like to clarify what I mean with regards to sippy cups at play dates. I host a weekly play date at my house. Multiple children come into the house carrying water bottles. These are not babies or toddler, but preschoolers. They run off to play with water bottles in hand. I have found half opened bottles in my children's beds, under my couch, in my basement, and on top of wooden furniture. I'm not saying bringing a sippy cup to someone's house is rude, but I think kids should sit down at the kitchen table to drink from it. I don't think a three year old needs a water bottle while they play in my kids' rooms or in the basement or in my living room. I've also had kids come over with snacks in hand and again, have found crumbs in beds, toy chests etc. I just think they don't need to eat and drink 24/7.
Now of course, if you have a toddler and carry a special cup for them in your diaper bag that's a different story. But please don't let them run around my house with it!
Anyway, I'm sorry I wasn't more clear. I'm typing on my phone, so I don't always clarify my thoughts well.

It might be a good idea to set up some boundaries within your own home then and let parents know that you only have drinks in the kitchen and not in the bedrooms. I get what you're saying and it would annoy me too

@MrsPrice519 Not disagreeing with your points but would just like to interject that the likelihood of doctors doing circumcision just to make more money is really low. I won't say there is a zero percent chance of it happening but the majority aren't. Reimbursements are staggeringly low and the time pressure most physicians are put under to care for more patients than is possible is great. Most docs I know would much prefer to not have one more procedure to do in their already hectic schedule. Not to mention the insane paperwork to document it all.

You're probably doing a doc a favor by skipping the circ all together! Go you!

@thedawkterswife No disrespect meant to drs. They just push it so hard (in my personal experience) that it leaves that taste in my mouth. My sons are 18 months and 3 and I still get asked every single time they have a well baby checkup if I would like a circ. They try to push the it's cleaner etc angle on me

You need a new pediatrician. That's not acceptable, and if it happened to me more than once I'd be livid.

@MrsPrice519 That's really weird! Our doctor didn't say a word about not circumcising DS. If there aren't any other pediatricians in your area, you can always switch to a family practice doctor. We did that a few years ago and it's been so great! They seem to be a little more laid back than pediatricians, and they can treat your whole family.

What she said. If my pediatrician pulled this shit I’d be out of there. I think it’s so critically important to be on the same page with your pediatrician’s philosophy on things like vaccines, breast feeding, circumcision, discipline, etc. I couldn’t work with someone that I was not aligned with in these critical areas.

@MrsPrice519 I did have my son circumcised, and the Dr tried to talk me out of it 3 times. Maybe you should come to AZ and make an appointment with him!

My dr is great overall. He really helped when my 18mo was born prematurely and was spectacular in handling him and all the problems he was having. It was a very scary time and he always made me feel competent as to what was going on. I was a cs and he came to me every time and talked to me for as long as I wanted and answered all my questions with great bedside manner. The trust is certainly there.

I just feel like maybe some of the nurses and him are a bit old fashioned. I live in a super small town in Tennessee.

I finally said at our last visit we will never circ and that my husband is British and it isn't in his culture to do so and that I feel it's cosmetic and unnecessary. I'm hoping that will do the trick.

I spent all night catching up on this thread & had to resume this morning due to my phone dying (omg the battery drains so fast on here). Therefore I'm super late to the discussion on circumcision.

As a FTM I really appreciate all of the insight. I'm learning so much and I have so many decisions to make it can be overwhelming. Parenting is tough. I think it's beautiful that so many mothers and fathers actually care enough to sit there and research and debate pros and cons. Whatever the outcome it's inspiring to see all of that.
