    Any appointments coming up?
    None this week.

    Questions?
    Not right now.

How are you doing? (Dear diary posts and venting are welcome and encouraged here)
Good, aside from fatigue, my symptoms are fading.

    EDIT:

    TW Loss
I just found out my best friend had a MC. She was only 2 weeks behind me. We were both looking forward to doing this together. I'm so sad for her and a part of me feels guilty that she'll (hopefully) watch me progress.
    End TW

GTKY: What are you currently reading (any subject)? Would you recommend it?
The Science of Mom and Into the Water (fiction). I just started reading them, but so far yes. I'm really liking the Science of Mom

    11 weeks tomorrow

    Any appointments coming up?
    ultrasound yesterday, 171 heart beat

    Questions?
can we get past the first trimester already?

How are you doing? (Dear diary posts and venting are welcome and encouraged here)
I am having a rough week. I have bronchitis that turned from viral to bacterial and am wheezing to breathe.  I told this to my OB yesterday and she didn't even bother to check my lungs and said to ride it out until my symptoms get worse.  So last night I desperately needed an inhaler and called the after hours line and I told the doctor everything and that I was coughing up green phlegm and needed help.  She said it turned into an infection and called me in an inhaler and antibiotics.  I had a rough night also with my blood sugars (diabetic) and I'm paranoid now that I've harmed the baby on top of a student calling me out in front of the whole class asking if I am pregnant.  It has been a shit day.

GTKY: What are you currently reading (any subject)? Would you recommend it?
Hamilton and Jefferson.  I've been showing some Hamilton songs on youtube to my government classes and want more information behind these guys than just a musical.
  • I'm sorry @cups4 That sounds rough :(

    Any appointments coming up?
I have my 12 week OB appt on Monday.  So anxious to hear the HB again!

    Questions?
    None at the moment.

How are you doing? (Dear diary posts and venting are welcome and encouraged here)
Still having weird food aversions and all I want is sugar (which I have had WAY too much of) and carbs.  Veggies make me gag.  I am still tired all the time and had leg cramps at night the past two days.

GTKY: What are you currently reading (any subject)? Would you recommend it?
The third Outlander book.  I love the series!
  • How far along are you?  7 weeks on the dot

    Any appointments coming up?
first appointment is next week on Thursday

    Questions?
    None at the moment.

How are you doing? (Dear diary posts and venting are welcome and encouraged here)
Still Dry heaving a lot and throwing up when I brush my teeth.   Also super pissed at DH right now because he left 5 hours ago to visit his mother. He told me he would be back in 2 hours.  When I texted to check on him he told be they decided to have lunch.  I don't give a shit if he's going up be gone all day but have some consideration and at least let me know.  Grrrrrrrrrr.....

GTKY: What are you currently reading (any subject)? Would you recommend it?
nothing currently.  Looking for something new to start

Any appointments coming up? I had one today!  Baby was great and very active during the ultrasound.  It was such a relief.  My NT scan is next Thursday.

    Questions?
At what point can a doctor determine the sex of the baby?

How are you doing? (Dear diary posts and venting are welcome and encouraged here)
Much better because of my appointment.  I was panicky while they were starting the ultrasound and so relieved to see the baby.

GTKY: What are you currently reading (any subject)? Would you recommend it?
I just finished Things that Happened Before the Earthquake.  It was a different read and I really loved how the author captured early 90s LA.  I will be starting The Perfect Stranger soon.  It's the same author as All the Missing Girls and I enjoyed that one.

@desertdweller-2 Oh, my heart hurts for your friend.  One of my BFFs was due F14 and I was only a short time behind her when I had my loss (our baby would have been due April 14).  It was a little hard for me, but she was honestly the person who was there for me the most with my loss.  She let me cry on her shoulder, brought me cupcakes and trashy magazines and was my rock during that really hard time.  I ultimately ended up consieving DS our next cycle and had him in May 14 and her daughter and DS and super close. FX your friend gets her rainbow baby soon.

@cups4 Feel better, girl!  That sucks!  I am seeing Hamilton this weekend and I can't wait.  DH read the Chernow biography they used as source material and I listened to some of the audiobook and it was really interesting.

    @sparklingdiamond GL at your appointment!

@sarahjean177 hopefully he comes back soon.

  • @mileswithmyles I get growth scans pretty regularly with being diabetic. I'm assuming your asking by ultrasound,  but the ultrasound tech could tell us boy at 14 weeks. I know we will hear how you can't tell until 16 or 18 or whatever,  but we were able to see it. I know that can vary depending on the machines and equipment and baby.
  • @cups4 thanks!  I couldn't remember.  Last time, at our NT scan, my uncle (I know, super weird, but he's the perinatologist that my OB uses for the advanced scans) told us he was 97% sure boy and had us come back a few weeks later for an elective ultrasound to confirm.  I couldn't remember the dates we went in and how far along I was for each of the ultrasounds.
  • @desertdweller-2 ugh, this happens to me but I was the one who had the loss. I actually pulled away from my friend at the end of her pregnancy because it was just too hard for me. We finally reconnected 3 months after the baby was born. The best thing she did for me was give me space.
The one thing that hurt me was her tellIng me everything about her pg and texting me US pics. I finally told her I needed a break from her and she totally got it. We are best friends so we didn’t lose a beat once we started hanging out again. For s long time I took out my frustrations on her because I was jealous.

@cups4 I take my inhaler whenever I need it as recommended by my OB. Healthy mommy needs oxygen!

@sparklingdiamond  I’m your opposite. No sugar, more veggies.

@sarahjean177 I love Alice Hoffman. Any of her older books are magical.

@mileswithmyles are you going any cell free genetic testing? They can find the sex out through that test. Otherwise I heard it’s possible st the NT scan. Congrats on a great US!

  • How far along are you?
11 weeks or 11 weeks 2 Days not sure because I measured ahead and didn’t really no my O date and my cycles are wonky.

    Any appointments coming up?
    NT scan October 23

    Questions?
Does anyone get super affected by sugar? Lately after I have carbs and sugar I get shakey, heart palpitations, and the dizzy and super tired. I’m thinking I should request a blood glucose test. What do you all think?

How are you doing? (Dear diary posts and venting are welcome and encouraged here)
I’ve been stressing because all we’ve heard is the hb and not had an US except at 6+ weeks. I just need to know baby is forming perfectly. I’m assuming a good hb Of 174 should be reassuring. fX

GTKY: What are you currently reading (any subject)? Would you recommend it?
I recently read the Story of Edgar Sawtelle and it’s the greatest book I’ve read in a really long time.
  • @justsuzie do the sequential screening, serum integrated screening, or quad marker screening qualify as cell free?

    Any appointments coming up?
    NT scan on 10/23

    Questions?
Do any of you have PCOS?  My OB is having me do the one hour glucose test with all of my 1st trimester lab work...I don't have any signs of being pre diabetic but I guess the risk of having pre-gestational diabetes is higher.  Everyone says its so gross...
  • I'm bump-illiterate, I guess, I lost my first post half-way through...

My symptoms are lessening = me freaking out occasionally.  I know at this point they are supposed to dissipate but I like the reassurance!  My mom bought me a doppler (which I won't be telling my OB about - haha) and I used it a few times and could not find baby, until today!  Heard that beautiful lubdub at 170 bpm and I swear my stress literally melted away.

GTKY: What are you currently reading (any subject)? Would you recommend it?
I'm reading a memoir by Ruth Wariner titled "The Sound of Gravel" about a polygamist family in rural Mexico.  It sounded good, and I'd love to get into it, but I fall asleep every two pages because of this fatigue so I've managed to get through about 30 pages in the month haha

@desertdweller-2 I'm so sorry to hear about your friend's MC.  I hope your friendship will continue to be supportive for one another in whatever way is healthiest and best for you both right now.

    @cups4 Feel better!!!!
  • @desertdweller-2 I'm sorry to hear about your friend. :(
@cups4 I'm glad you got your inhaler & abx. Ugh I am so with you, ready for 1st trip and all its fears to be gone.
@mileswithmyles Other people have already answered this but I'll throw in my 2 cents. My last OB told me that really good US tech's (and if baby cooperates) can tell the sex as early as 12 weeks. That being said I don't think its the norm.
@justsuzie I'm not sure mine correlates with food intake but I have been feeling dizzy/lightheaded a lot more recently. No heart palpitations though.

    How far along are you?
    11 weeks today

    Any appointments coming up?

I had one today, going in for my InformaSeq (NIPT) draw tomorrow.

    Questions?

Anyone else doing NIPT who isn't having an NT scan? I know that the purpose of the test kind of negates needing an NT but it also means I won't have another US until 19 weeks. That seems soooo far away.

How are you doing? (Dear diary posts and venting are welcome and encouraged here)
I'm doing alright tonight! Vent post coming... So I had my "Initial OB" appt today and it was mainly just a physical exam since I already had my initial bloodwork done. My OB is a small practice (why I chose it) with just one physician and one NP. Prior to today I had all my appointments with the OB, but I guess the NP does all the initial visits. She is very young and I assume relatively new to practice (but seemed very competent). Anyway long story short she could not find the babies HB on the doppler, I tried and couldn't find it either. I had literally just listened to the babies HB that morning on my doppler (which I did not tell her). But of course PGAL me starts freaking out and I cried a little bit. I was out in the hallway making my next appt when the OB walked by and was like hey.. are you okay? Of course I start SOBBING. Smh at myself. So he takes me back and does a quick US, of course the HB is their right away. I now feel like the resident crazy person at my OB but whatevs. I wish that he would have done the US for longer than a few seconds though, I am soooo longing to see my baby move.  :p

I am happy that my OB recommended NIPT testing for me and it will end up being a whole lot more affordable than my initial quote. I'll get that drawn tomorrow and then will hopefully have the results late next week.

GTKY: What are you currently reading (any subject)? Would you recommend it?
I just finished "Lilac Girls" which I highly recommend. If you like WWII like "The Nightingale" etc you would love this book.
  • @rachelg777 that sounds so stressful! Glad your OB did that for you. My first appt was with the NP and she’s okay, but I was so, so happy to see my OB today. He makes me feel so comfortable.  We almost picked Lilac Girls in our book club, but ended up with The Roanoke Girls instead.
  • @mileswithmyles I believe so. I think cell free just means from the mothers blood not CVC or amnio.  You results are being processed right now, will be ready in a week but get sent to the DR not us.  So, more likely we won't hear until 2 weeks.  Worse than the 2 week wait!

@rumbletumble We will both have lovely scans!

@rachelg777 The ONLY reason we are having the NT scan is so that we can have the US at 13 weeks.  OUr last one was like 6 weeks 4 days and all we saw was a blob.  I want to see a wiggly baby!!!  We have an HSA health plan so we are going to meet our deductible regardless so we have added in extra visits and tests. Basically I want to milk my insurance for everything. They suck me dry every other year that I don't meet the deductible.
  • @mileswithmyles Yes that’s exactly how I feel! You will have to let me know if you like Roanoke Girls, it looks good!
  • @rachelg777 it was our book last month. It was good. A quick read and definitely interesting.
  • @justsuzie that makes sense! I want to see a wiggle worm too! So bad! We will see... maybe I’ll beg at my appt in 2 weeks. If I’m already the crazy patient I might as well keep my status  ;)
  • @rachelg777 Embrace the crazy

  • @rachelg777 Horray, great news. Hope it gets you through the weeks until the next!
  • @justsuzie, I came to say the same thing. We've seen our bean at 6w and 8w and all looked great, but I'm still crazy nervous we're part of the negative statistic that shows loss after seeing hb.
  • @suchaglencoco It's hard not to paranoid.  Everytime I see a TW-Loss pop up I freak out and then take some deep breathes and make myself believe this CANNOT happen to me because it just can't.  We haven't seen ours since 6 weeks 5 days but was measuring ahead and have had a great 174 HB everyday since. I need to trust my body and whatever higher force has control.  We deserve this and good things will happen for us.
  • Thanks to everyone who commented about my friend. She's always there for me so I'm doing the same. I'm giving her a little space now as that's what I initially want. I'm sorry some of you have been through this before, but on the loss side.

I'm looking forward to reading these books - I'm always looking for a new read!

@mileswithmyles My OB also said we should be able to see sex by 14 weeks. We'll see. I'm doing the NIPT at 11 weeks, so I should find out from both around the same time.

I hate seeing all these losses too. It's awful.

@desertdweller-2, I’m so sorry for your friend’s loss. I was pregnant around the same time as a friend/acquaintance and we were super excited. Unfortunately, I had an early loss. One of the harder parts of it was her calling or texting me to complain about morning sickness or exhaustion or nausea. I finally had to explain I was happy for her, but that I needed a break from updates because it was too painful. We got into a bit of a tiff about it, but I was glad I said my peace. She suffered a loss a couple of weeks after and though I hurt for her, I was glad I was able to talk her through it. Losses are tough. So space with a “know I’m here for whatever, but understand you may need space so just let me know if there is anything I can do” message is always good.

@cups4, I am sorry you’re having such a hard week! I hope you’re feeling better now that some of the medicine has hopefully kicked in.

@spraklingdiamond, my food aversions lasted my entire pregnancy last time and it was awful. My major one was meat like steaks and burgers. We LOVE steaks, but DH wasn’t allowed to have them in the house if I was home. I had a c-section and when I was finally able to eat, I slammed a hospital piece of “prime rib”. The quotes because who know what it really was, but it was honestly the best thing I’ve ever tasted in my entire life. DH said it was awful, but I do not agree. It was so odd to me how fast the aversion dissipated after giving birth.

I hope your aversions don’t last the entire 9 months!

@justsuzie, if you’re tracking what is making you dizzy, I don’t see the harm in calling your OB to find out if you maybe can get tested early. I myself just get randomly dizzy when I stand up at times. No connections found.

@rachelg777, I don’t think you were acting crazy at all! If it were me, I wouldn’t have left without someone finding the HB. And hooray for seeing baby!!!

    How far: 8w5d

It seems to be going pretty fast this time around.

    Appointments:

Another week and a half before I see the OB.

    Questions:

Is anyone else planning on being team green?

    How am I doing:

I’m doing alright. I have good days and bad days. We have a family photo shoot next weekend and we will do a few announcement photos. It’s making me nervous to do something in an official capacity. We’ve seen the bum bean at 6w and 8w, both times they looked great, were right on size, great hb, didn’t have anything around them. So I should be excited and ready to do it, right? Ugh. Loss brain stinks.

    GTKY:

I am so tired at nap time that I am also taking a nap. And I’m too tired at night to read anything. So I guess what I’m currently reading is FB and TB, haha.

  • @suchaglencoco I feel the same way. If I look at baby items I will feel excited while I do it but immediately after I will feel this crushing disappointment like I just jinxed myself. I’m trying to slowly overcome it. I hope your family photos go well and your brain acts normal on you.  :) Post one for us if you feel comfortable!
  • @suchaglencoco @rachelg777 I can’t take bump progression pics or buy baby stuff until I get those damn dna results back pgal brain is the worst.
  • Thank you, @rachelg777.  I have bought a few things for the baby- a stuffed animal to think positive after my first bloodwork and then a mascot stuffed animal and pacifier set when DH and I went to my team's NFL game last weekend.
I am hoping I'll be too wrapped up in chasing my kids and getting them settled to over think it.
  • @suchapayne310 maybe you’re into something buying things for the baby. That’s definitely positive thinking. Good for you.
  • @justsuzie you are so close to having those results! We can do this!
  • @justsuzie, I took some hdbd photos last pregnancy, but never saved them out of fear (and not liking how I looked) and I really regret that now as I barely have any of my big belly. My SIL who also had a loss told me I'd regret it and I wish I'd have listened.
  • @justsuzie @suchaglencoco @desertdweller-2 I am feeling the same way and having a very hard time today because TW late loss mentioned
My friend had her anatomy scan today and their baby didn't have a heartbeat.  They are at their regular OB to find out what they need to do next.  I immediately burst into tears and now I feel like the reassurance I felt yesterday by having a good ultrasound is gone.

  • @mileswithmyles, that is heartbreaking. I am so so so sorry for your friends.  I cannot imagine that.
    Prayers to your friend.
  • @suchaglencoco thank you.

I feel so terrible for them. They had announced publicly, did a gender reveal, and everything.
  • @mileswithmyles that’s devastating. I don’t even know what to say. :'(

@justsuzie regarding bump photos I actually am very at peace with them.

    TW my loss
With my loss we started bump photos at 6 weeks. We had 4 weekly progression photos and the day of the D&C my husband took one in my hospital gown. I actually like looking back at it because it reminds me it was real and how much love I had for that little one. We got them all developed and have a little keepsake box for her. It was actually very therapeutic for me. I understand that isn’t the case for everyone of course.

  • @mileswithmyles I am so sorry for your friend. I can't imagine what they're going through.

  • @justsuzie @suchaglencoco
I'm with you ladies, all the TW mentions freak me out and I scroll super fast past the goodbye and I'm out boards on here. I'm sad for those ladies but I also don't want to see the title everyday.
My last pregnancy I had a heartbeat but was measuring 2.5 weeks behind and knew something was wrong almost the entire pregnancy. I have to admit, I don't feel that way this time. Until recently I felt pretty calm and confident. As I want to start sharing the news, I'm getting more nervous especially because I had my US at 7w2d and I'll be 10weeks Saturday.  Next appointment isn't until Halloween:( so I'm struggling with telling my family this weekend, or waiting. I have a few social events coming up and while I don't think the news will come out, I don't want my friends to know before my parents.
Have you ladies shared the news with anyone?
