There was some interest shown in the HDBD thread about when to start a FB group since we are all approaching or are already in 3rd tri. This is where we can hash out the details, see who's interested, and maybe talk about the acceptance process?

EDIT: Group is live! Please PM @missblaze, @supercoolstephy, @maueraa07, @KatieEl or myself with your Facebook name and email address to request an add to the group. We will be taking requests through December 15th and then closing the group to new members. Participation here on TB will be factored in to whether or not you are added on FB.

I'm interested and ready whenever everyone else is. As far as the acceptance process, I think it we should accept requests to join for a specific period of time and then close it. While I don't have specific criteria in mind, I think members should be recognizable and more than just a lurker who never posts.

Personally, I'm fine with starting a group whenever. I feel like we all "know" each other pretty well and are far enough along that it'd be good to start.

That being said, I am definitely not comfortable letting just anyone in. Not to be "elitist" or anything, but since there is generally more personal information being shared in a FB group, I'd rather have it be with people who have participated here regularly in all the different threads (so not just HDBD every week and nothing else). In my last BMB I believe we had 3 or 5 admins (odd number for tie breakers) and at the beginning they all took a look at a potential member's post history and decided whether or not they were considered regular enough. After we had a big enough group, we would do group votes. However we choose to do it is fine as long as there is some kind of process.

I'm in. Most important to me is that I get to stay "friends" with all of you lovely women, so if that is here or on FB, whatever! I do remember when DD was born FB was so much easier because I could easily use it on my phone while she was gnawing away at my tit (FTMs--so much to enjoy!). Like everyone, I second @schaze and her ideas re: an acceptance process. However, I am incapable of getting anything done and would be a bad admin (I think?). Not that anyone asked me, lol

I think it’s good to have a process for acceptance (although I’m thinking back on my postings and hoping I’m regular enough to qualify lol) bc there is a lot more info shared on FB than on here.

ok, even though I was on the boards when i was pregnant with DD, I don't remember having an FB group. What's the point of the FB group versus this one for third tri?

I agree about having requests for a certain period of time. I remember that in my last BMB the lurkers came out of the woodwork the last few weeks and kept starting 1 off posts asking about labor then immediately wanted in the fb group. I like the acceptance process mentioned above. Also I'm a SAHM and would be willing to help in any way needed as I have lots of little opportunities to be on the phone/computer.

@IrishPiratess For me, it's a lot easier to access Facebook than TB. With a closed group people feel more comfortable sharing personal information and you have the opportunity to develop closer friendships. I've kept up with my A14 Facebook group to this day and we are very close.

ETA: It would be for more than 3rd trimester - I think it was decided to wait until 3rd trimester so that we could all get to know each other better.

@IrishPiratess Its easier for me to use Facebook than on the bump. I don't know how much bumping I'll be doing after having the babe since it's not as easy to access from my phone and I think I spent/spend most of my time on Facebook. Just ask my husband. haha

You can sign me up for interested. I like the way @schaze laid out the acceptance parameters. How would you know who is requesting to join? (Fb real life name VS TB screenname?)

I should add too, it's possible to join a group without being FB friends with anyone. We gave our emails to the admin and were added that way.

@missblaze Yep, you are correct Iremember when we first started on here the idea of a Facebook group was floated and it was decided it was a better idea to wait until later so we got to know each other better and also to weed out the crazies lol

It looks like 4 people have shown interest in being an admin (@schaze, myself, @supercoolstephy, @maueraa07)- if we wait until tonight we can see if anyone else shows interest to make it an uneven 5.

@burnsmommy27 I think the best way to do it is have people PM the admins from TB so that they have the username right away. Then what we did in my last BMB was have a post in the FB group for everyone to comment their bump screen name, then we made a pinned post with the rules and the usernames-->real names which was then updated with baby(ies) names and birth dates so all the info was in one place. The other thing I've heard of other groups doing is having everyone sign all their posts with their bump screen name for a couple months. Personally, I prefer having the pinned post to go back to.

@schaze We did the same in my A14 FB group - we used a spreadsheet with our TB names, FB names(real names), baby names, etc.

I would love to join the FB group... by A14 group with DD was so supportive and helpful, especially as a FTM. We have grown really close and I even just hung out with some of the ladies in person again last week, toddlers in tow!

I feel like FB is so much easier to access, too. The Bump App is always crashing for me and I'm working full time at this point. It's hard to keep up with threads here and feel like I have interesting things to contribute! I hope I've been around enough to make the cut. (Pretty please!)

I haven't had Facebook for a few years but keeping up with you all is making me consider reactivating my account! I'm also not sure if I'd meet the criteria for activity but gosh it would be so nice to have everyone's support through every stage. I originally quit Facebook when DS was a few months old because I think I was overwhelmed and dealing with some new mom anxiety about "not posting enough" of my son when others would post their little ones daily. That felt so ridiculous to me, so I ditched it. Now, after a little time and personal growth/confidence gained in motherhood, I'm seriously debating getting back on there!

I love my D15 FB group. We were together from the beginning of our pregnancies, and I ended up becoming best friends with one of the gals on there, who was going to be in my wedding, but DH and I decided to get knocked up instead of having a wedding. Sooo... whoops. haha. We also have a second time again pregnancy group too. haha

I'd be in for a FB group. I joined a local mom's group and it's so huge and busy and I don't know anyone. I'd much rather stick with you ladies.

Also haven't had a facebook in years. I've been considering getting one for family to keep up with us since this is my first baby. But if not, I'll still be around on here and hope everyone is able to still post some!

I'm down for a Facebook group. KatieEl just volunteered for the 5th admin. I don't mind being a backup for an admin if needed. I think FB might be easier, sometimes it's so hard to tag on TB mobile that I just don't post. It'll also be easier to stay in touch and I'm more comfortable sharing photos onThe Book of Faces (if I'm wearing makeup).

@supercoolstephy that's so awesome to meet such a good friend in your group! I feel like as a mom, it's sometimes difficult to meet new friends who have anything in common with me. It's so intimidating to go up to other moms in real life, I just end up talking to my daughter at the playground, etc.

@Kezzy44 I have like... no mom friends in real life. Sometimes I make jokes to the moms that I meet that I think are going to think I'm funny... they never think I am. Like one time I was talking to these moms and we were joking and I told them about the time that DS yelled "Gob Jambit" and shook his fist at someone. It was hilarious, they just looked at me appalled by it... that was the day I remembered I was raising my kid in the Bible belt. haha
