WTF Wednesday

Re: WTF Wednesday

  • I just wish I could stop bleeding money this month.  So many big expenses hit me all at once and it's annoying.

And I think my UTI didn't completely go away, so now I have to call my OB again today.
  • Loading the player...
  • @sparklingdiamond. I totally get you! It's like everyone has their hands out for money for SOMEthing this past couple weeks!!
  • My WTF is aimed towards my usually amazing husband.

NO the 8 year old doesn't need to play on the iPad in the morning before school. He "forgets" to brush his teeth, feed his bunny and put socks on all because he is rushing to get to Minecraft.

And I'm not that huge on screens anyway, but they definitely don't need to be the FIRST things done in the morning!
  • My WTF goes to a banker in my dept today.  She has a customer in her portfolio who died last year, so she decided to remove the lady from the system entirely.  This erased all past records for her AND her husband (everything was under her name since she was the primary business owner).  Hello?  You work for a bank, why on God's green earth would you erase credit paper trails?  We are required to keep records by federal law for 7 freaking years.

  • @ngolimento Yikes that sounds like a big boo boo.
  • @ngolimento WTF indeed? Death may be the end of life here but it's the beginning of probate!

  • My WTF goes to shared calendars deleting events.  My husband's work schedule again ate one of my appointments, and I don't have a number to call about it
  • So frustrating, @allowachick! My calendar deletes entries too and I don't even understand why. Gah.

  • @lindsye right?! Like if I could fix it it would be one thing
  • Ughh I'm SO mad right now. My WTF is the electronic medical record system at my job that just erased an entire psych evaluation I just got dome writing. Now I have to start it over.

That sucks! My WTF (besides being stuck in quote box) is bloating. So painful, I was hoping I was done with this part.
  • My WTF goes to a lady who works at the RenFest who handles the theater competitions.

This is the first year administration has allowed me to take a group to perform/compete, and so I'm brand new to their system. I read everything they provided, but still had 2 extremely simple questions that only needed yes or no answers, and emailed the woman who told me to contact her if I had any questions.

Her response was "Well, I can't tell if you bothered to read the packet of information or not, so first tell me if you did that, and then I can decide if clarification is needed or not." and that was it! WTF crazy lady? You could have written yes or no twice in significantly less time than the time it took you to write that extremely rude email. I sincerely hope she was just having a bad day and she's not normally a giant jerk. It takes guts to be that rude via email to people!
  • @Sissy42 WTF?  That is so uncalled for!

I am mad because I wanted a small pumpkin for our announcement and could only find ones that were painted on one side.  Which is fine because I can just use the other blank side.  But it was $3.49 for a tiny pumpkin!  The bigger ones were cheaper!
  • @sparklingdiamond, agreed. There's no way I could have pissed her off already!

With the pumpkins - have you checked your grocery stores? Our krogers and HEBs are starting to have those bins of hundreds of itty bitty pumpkins. Why on earth are all the pumpkins you've seen been painted on one side? Like designs? That's so weird
  • @Sissy42 Yea it was at Kroger that I got this one!  I went ahead and bought it because I am impatient and don't have time to go around looking for one at lunch lol.  But yea...not sure why they were all painted!
  • Mine goes to my health tech who didn’t understand my note so instead of asking for clarification sent the patient home instead of getting him in to be seen.  It’s mt fault because my note wasn’t clear yet everyone in the department read the note and knew exactly what it meant!  She’s worked here two years and doesn’t even know the basics re: her job!!
  • Okay, WTF WEDNESDAY! Is anyone else having problems with scheduling and their employers? I used to be scheduled 4-5 days a week and since they found out I was pregnant, I've gone down to 2-3 days a week. There's newer people than me getting more days too. I have the less amount of scheduled days. Unfortunately, it's a privately owned restaurant, so there's no HR department. Has anyone been in this situation or know what to do? I feel like it's discrimination and they're trying to get rid of me knowing that I'll be gone come April...
  • @korpuskhristi does the restaurant have under 50 employees?  If so, federal law does not protect your job, unfortunately.

  • @ngolimento the owner owns the restaurant, a club locally and out of town. We're all under the same business name. There's over 100.
  • @JJMNO1616, that is so frustrating! Whenever I'd lose therapy notes or evaluations, I always felt like I missed something writing it the second time around!

@Sissy42, I can't believe someone was the condescend via email! So rude! Sorry you had to deal with that!

Then absolutely talk to your boss and let them know that they cannot restrict your work without violating Title VII of the Civil Rights Act.

Unfortunately in America worplaces find ways around these violations (suddenly the employee is a terrible worker and gets reprimands), but your boss set themselves up for a direct violation.  That is dumb.

Yeah I would definitely point out to them that you're getting fewer shifts than you had before and fewer than you'd like; tell them that you noticed the change only after you notified them that you were pregnant, and ask them directly if that change is related to your pregnancy. That conversation at least puts them on notice/creates a record that you are unhappy about the situation and have reason to believe it's related to your pregnancy.

I would say something to your manager so a convo is documented.
  • @angiek1 @lindsye @ngolimento
thank yall! I will say something tomorrow about it. I had thought it would be risky since some places could say something about performance and blah blah blah that's why we cut your hours. I know that's not the problem... but I will hopefully have it straightened out. I've been on the job hunt recently, but it's easy having this job to help with any transition and I've been there a year.

I’m just smiling because a lawyer is the only professional I have ever heard use the word probate. Not a lawyer dig at all, I just got a giggle out of it  :)

  • I'm sure you're right, @g_amoss! I'm not working as a lawyer right now (although am having plenty of oral arguments in my capacity as a SAHM), but a lot of the language, etc is so engrained in me that it pops up into conversation all the time. Thanks, law school!
