I bet most of you are going to go lurk Ju18’s FFFC for more fireworks today.

Yesterday, I needed to stop for tampons and wanted to stop for coffee. I only had time for one. I chose coffee & took a tampon from a coworker.

My FFFC, I'm not really that excited for Halloween this year. I could just skip it. I will have fun having trick-or-treaters at our house for the first time but I don't really want to put out decorations or make plans or think of a costume.

@krashke I'm with you on Halloween this year. DH and I are having a 'Stranger Things' viewing party a few days before and I'm more excited about that. I'm making an Eggo bar!

I'm curious to see what this drama is so I'm gonna go lurk here in a minute!

My FFFC: I think Evan Peters is super hot when he plays evil characters on American Horror Story. I can't tear my eyes away from this season because I'm simultaneously horrified and aroused and it's really messing with my mind. There were a couple scenes where I almost threw up. I have to keep my curtains shut when I watch it because I'm afraid I'll turn around and see a clown in the window. And I'm really nervous about Halloween this year because I'm scared some assholes are going to dress like those clowns and I'll be walking with DS down the streets trick-or-treating and will have to hide my terror so I don't freak him out, too.

DW thinks I need to stop watching the show but I can't. I love it and hate it. The writers have seriously insane imaginations.

@wishiwaspreggo Haha I had to stop watching AHS in season three. I kept having nightmares and it made my sleep issues worse. It's sick but seriously good writing.

FFFC....I let H fight my battles on everything but business stuff. Confrontation makes me shake and he's much better at it.

I love a good opportunity to get into a discussion about quality customer service with whatever customer service agent I have to talk to. And when MH makes the call I'm pretty much talking into his other ear asking if he asked them this or told them about that .

I've been lurking some of the BMBs like crazy the last weeks looking for BSC postings. June was really tame until it kicked off in the intro thread and then yesterday with the thread that's now closed! I have a feeling one of the ones involved yesterday and who only intro'd this week is going to be trouble... I read her intro and already thought "here we go...". May had a few flare ups but is calm the last week (TW they lost a few members sadly the last week or so).

Normally the the best drama happens whilst it's sleep time here in Europe though so they're normally closed before I can support former TTGPers :-(

Thought of another one as I was listening to her new album. I don't care what y'all say...I love Miley Cyrus. She was in Nashville last weekend while I was there doing her album release party at Tootsies and because we couldn't get in, we waited in the smelly back alley waiting for her to come out like teenagers and we caught some t-shirts from the show they were throwing into the crowd. I think she is really talented and I don't care if she does wild antics..."she's just being Miley"

I just bought five 3-packs of pregnancy tests from the grocery store, because as I was walking past I noticed that they each included a $3 off manufacturer's coupon. So...I am just being fiscally responsible by saving future me money, right?

@krashke While not a fan, I Iiked Miley (and definitely enjoyed a few of her hits) until the abrupt about face she did recently with the promotion of her new album. She's definitely not the only white singer (or person) to appropriate black culture and then kick it to the curb when it's not convenient/not commercially viable anymore but she did it in very obvious ways. I can't explain it well so I'll just link one of the many articles that explains why her behavior (to some, me included) is kinda gross and why I lost some respect for her. Not digging at anyone who likes her, just how I feel.

@zamora_spin while I recognize that her and other artists (Katy Perry) appropriate black culture with disregard to the implications, I disagree that it was an about face and just convenient for her at the time. At that time she was collaborating with prominent artists and producers in the Hip Hop and Rap genres. It also didn't happen overnight. She went through another odd phase in between then and now. And for probably the last year she has been more like she is now. I don't agree with how people pigeon hole artist or people in general into what they think they should be like. I like that she's not afraid to be herself or even to experiment with different things.

@krashke @zamora_spin I'm not a fan, but she was super cute when she was younger and has an amazing voice. She annoys me too much with her antics, but steps up in tough times e.g. Supporting Ariane Grande in Manchester after the attack there and I loved her performances the other night

Sorry new one - I love the rules here in TTGP re BFP postings

IF board is driving me crazy as some people think they can come in once or twice and post about how nervous they are then post their BFPs right in your face. But there doesn't seem to be any collective enforcement and I don't want to seem like a grumpy BFNer (though I already dropped subtle hints well before I knew my result)

I'm upset our random weekday board is as shut down. I have so much to say! First off I find it interesting while the UO conversation was happening in June18 the same thing was happening with Cam Newton (football quarterback).
He said "It's funny to hear a female talk about routes," People said it's sexist and others said it wasn't. Then people said replace female with black and it's racist...I just think it's crazy how these conversations are happening all the time still.
Edit--got caught off but it's hard to bump on the bus so I'll stop but it was so hard to not jump in yesterday!!

@blackhottamales yeah I can't believe randoms was closed! I was just getting up to date and then no more posting possible! Nobody was arguing, nobody was getting angry with one another. Ahhhh.

I had a thing this week with a co-worker who asked me if I was applying for a new role that's just been posted in our company - I said no and he said "oh thank god for that, if you were I wouldn't bother as you'd be the only person who's not male german and over 50 so they'd have to give the job for you. It's a good thing you're not black and a single mother too". I walked straight to HR and reported him - and then spent half an hour with the guy (and HR) trying to explain why what he said was wrong...

I had on an old pair of underpants today (backup security for AF). I have an irritated spot in my inner thigh. I could not handle them rubbing it anymore. There is no way in hellllll I’d take my pants all the way off in the bathroom and risk touching the floors here at work. I had no scissors in my office. So, logically, I ripped the sides and slid them off. Problem solved.

FFFC I’m oddly proud that a thread I started got shut down. Even though it has nothing to do with me.

In a similar note to sexism, another FFFC is that I hate that I feel the need to explain why I didn’t change my name when I got married. There are lots of reasons but the most easily accepted one when telling people is I didn’t want to do the paperwork. Why is that more acceptable than I just like the name I’ve had for 28 years?

@SkilledSailor. Ohhhh girl, don’t get me started on maiden vs married names. I was not going to change mine at all. I ended up adding a 2nd last name. Professionally, I only use my maiden name. IDGAF if you think it will make my H sad if ‘he has dreamed of having a lady with his name his whole life’. IDGAF if you think it’s ‘confusing to have 2 last names’. IDGAF if you think I won’t ‘feel married’ without the same last name. IDGAF if you think I’m ‘a little too feminist.’ F*off, people.
Bonus MIL story: knowing I’m very adamant I would either go by my maiden or Maiden Married name, she had a 9x13 pan&lid engraved for me for a shower. With ‘First Married’ name. “Well, your First Maiden Married’ name wouldn’t fit.
LIE. (It does, I had checked into buying one recently).
FIL ordered me large print Reader’s Digest subscription last year (side note: best gift ever!! #OldLadyAtHeart). He also put ‘First Married.’

No, “I don’t see what the big deal is” and “can’t you just accept they won’t acknowledge your legal name?” doesn’t cut it. It isn’t just them. Every freakin’ body does it.

Keeping my name in any form doesn’t make me a bra-burning feminist (I’d die of back pain without a bra, anyways).

@jrm_14 Whew girl, that'd really rub me the wrong way! Most people ask if I'm changing mine (I'm not). The in-laws are Chinese and it's not really custom for the wife to change her name so they don't care one bit. I just think it's weird that other people would care what my last name is other than when they're writing me a check.

@jrm_14 & @SkilledSailor I feel the same but opposite. I have friends who shame me for changing my name. I respect (and quite frankly couldn't give AF) their choice to not change, but don't judge me for making the decision to change mine.
And @jrm_14 that passive aggressive stiff from you in laws is crazy.

Mostly, the passive aggressive BS from my ILs is the worst it. And who cares if you change it or keep it? Just have a last name. Who cares what the female is most comfortable with?!
ETA: MH has a pretty awful last name, IMHO. As in, VERY easy to make fun of with derogatory remarks. At least mine is cool

@SkilledSailor @jrm_14 @blackhottamales , I guess my FFFC is that my first/last name is the same as a famous actress...and I did change my name to that. My maiden name was unpronounceable (like, wasn't even pronounced correctly for the language it came from and set people up for disaster), so it was totally an "upgrade" for "cosmetic reasons, lol. I probably would have done differently for professional reasons if I had a good one. I now get a lot of comments on whether my parents named me that on purpose (the actress is a bit older), but nope! My mom also "upgraded" as well from a name with a pretty bad connotation for elementary school kids.
