Pretty pushers !

So I just wrote in my MOM's group but I 100% recommend everyone to buy a pretty pusher for their hospital bag . I don't sell them , nor do I have anything to do with the company but it was probably the best thing I took with my to the hospital looking back on my birth ! It's a dress specifically designed for laboring women so you don't have to wear the huge obnoxious hospital gown that flaunts your naked rear every time you stand up :) it ties around your neck which makes it easy to unfold for breast feeding after baby is born if you go that route , and it has ties over the tummy that allow the baby monitors to easily hook up etc . I was on the fence on if it would be worth it with my first and now I buy them for everyone as baby shower gifts so I wanted to pass along the tip :) I think the base model , 1 color is 25 bucks ish .

  • Latched mama makes a beautiful one too!

with DS1 I used a skirt and a sports bra and with DS2 never had time to get out of my clothes lol. But I agree that it's so much nicer to be in your own non-hospital clothes!

  • Last time I wore the hospital gown and was drowning in it as I’m really petite. This time around I’m going to wear just a nursing tank top with a blanket covering my lap. With how many times they needed to check my lady bits and how hot I got during labor, I’d rather just be comfortable. Besides, modesty goes out the window once you’ve had 8 people staring up the chute at one time...
  • I ordered one of the Posh Pushers because they had a sale on Zulilly! It comes in tomorrow, but I'll have to look into these too!
  • Thanks for the reco ladies! So many things that you just don't think of, I am eternally grateful for this group lol! <3
  • My BFF got me one when I had DD. I wore the obnxious hospital gown for actual L&D, and then put my Pretty Pusher on afterwards. I washed it, and got it clean, so I'm taking it with me again. I'm going to try being in a sports bra and skirt this time, and then get into the pretty pusher afterwards.

  • FTM and I'm not even sure what to wear. I want moderate coverage for if there's someone in the room and I don't want them to see everything I've got but I also want to strip quickly. I thought about a nursing bra and a skirt. There is a labor tub where we will be delivering and I want to get in so the skirt is easy to toss off. The nursing bra, I thought, would be good to use for skin to skin after DS is born. Of course, I've also considered just doing the whole thing naked because everyone who works in the hospital is gonna see me that way anyway so why not just expedite the whole thing.
  • Last time I brought nursing tanks and pj pants to wear around. I'm planning on doing the same this time, as well as bringing a zip up hoodie. I'm having a repeat c-section so they'll make me stay for 3 overnights so I want to feel comfy and I am not a sleepshirt/nightgown kinda gal, so the hospital gown stayed on me until I was allowed to shower and then I was in real clothes.

  • Nursing tank and skirt is a good idea-- I think I may need to follow that advice. But I do want to wear the gown during the actual labor/delivery part of it just because there's so much leaky fluids that I wouldn't want my regular clothes to get ruined. Last time I wore a regular bra under my gown and got so sweaty after pushing for 2 hrs (plus hooked up to IVs so taking the gown off wasn't an option) that I ended up having my husband cut off my bra with scissors to remove it since it was drenched in sweat. I just needed that thing off lol. I think I'll go braless this time to avoid that situation again.

  • Anybody bring clothes to wear and not be able to actually wear them? I wore a sports bra and shorts while laboring but once I got the epi I had to wear the hospital gown.

I bought and packed a couple night shirts.... Never took them out of my duffel bag. Lol. Once I got the L&D gown on, I stayed in it until DS was born. Then they offered me a nursing gown, and I wore that until we went home. I thought they were comfortable and I liked that I didn't have to worry about getting fluids on them. I'm planning to just wear the hospital gowns again this time around.

  • I really want to bring my own gown too! I just hate all the prints I’ve seen, why can’t they just make solid colors??!! Why am I so plain and picky?

Speaking of clothing items to pack in the hospital bag, last time I was sent to the hospital and got induced after a doctors appointment, so the only shoes I brought with me were the ones I was wearing. They were some very comfy vans slip-ons but when it was time to go home, my feet were SO SWOLLEN and I couldn’t fit them on my feet! LOL so I had to ask for a second pair of hospital socks and double layered, and that’s how I hopped in the car. I’m already browsing the internet for some super comfy slippers to take with me this time  :)
  • Oh gosh @agalvarado Yes I remember my feet being HUGE. Worst looking feet ever. I'll have to remember to pack slippers. DD was a June baby so I had flip flops
  • I wanted one with DD, but read conflicting reviews, and ended up not getting one. I didn't want to spend money on something that would get ruined. I'm glad I didn't get it, because it would have been pretty stained up if I had. I labored in the hospital gown and then had nice things to change into afterwards. That's what I'll do this time too.
  • With DD1 I packed an outfit to labor and deliver in, as well as a bikini to wear in the hot tub and clothes for post delivery. I wore the nursing gown the entire time- except for while laboring in the tub- I just went naked then. I wore the gown the entire time I was there. I didn't want to risk ruining my own stuff.

I didn't have time to consider changing with DD2; I delivered her in the oversized ON tee shirt dress I was wearing when I arrived. I actually did change into clothes post delivery with her, though I can't remember if it was the same night or if it was the next morning, post shower.

I wore flip flops home with both girls- probably not going to work out so well in January! Swelling was only an issue with DD1, when I received fluids.

The gowns at my hospital didn't tie; they snapped. They also snapped down the arms, so they were easy to use to nurse in and easy to take off if you had an IV.
