@MamaK225 after close to 2 months of injections back in the beginning of the year, both my upper outer thighs became numb with burning sensation. 7 months later and it’s better. But not 100%. Which is why in my last FET, I was told to do it with the 1 inch needle (instead of the 1.5 inch). But it was with the smaller needle that I had more pain and bruises!!! I’m going to continue doing it on the butt for now and see how it goes. It’s not the most convenient spot to inject yourself but once you find the position that works, it’s not too bad.
@tinjp78 going to get the injection every day seems very inconvenient. It’s ok for IVF as it’s only a couple of weeks. But with FET, I might have injections for 3 months!

@prudence9-2 I hope that these pain from those injections would easy up. Hugs to you sister... you are doing a good job. Pls imagine me as one of your invisible cheerleaders, cheering you on, whenever you are administering those nasty shots.
Thankfully, I do have an on-site clinic where I work (manfacturing facility, where it's hard for workers to leave for doctor's appts, flu shots, etc) and they can do my shots during the week if I want them to, so it's normally only weekends I have to worry about doing it myself.
@prudence9-2 - My RE's SOP is to do PIO & suppositories until 9-12 weeks (depending on your bloodwork at your appts). I do remember that once that period was over, it took NO time in forgetting the whole thing. I think remembering to take all the meds is what distracted me from being sick at all ... and it made trimesters 2-3 feel like a breeze. Hoping yours continues nice and smoothly and those weeks go by quickly!

@MamaK225 Funny that you mention the thighs, initially my first FET I was dead set on doing all injections myself (as a nurse had a fear of having DH do them). So I asked if I could do somewhere else and they mentioned thighs. Well, after the first night of injecting 1ml with a 22g 1 1/2 in needle, I was in so much pain the next day I could barely walk. That was when I asked if there was an alternative and switched to Crinone which unfortunately I did not absorb properly. I did two more nights of the thigh injections before the Crinone was delivered and it was terrible, took months for the numbness/tingling and discomfort with every step of walking to go away. I wish they had allowed me to use a 1in needle though, I bet that would make a huge different. My RE did say we would do PIO through the 3rd beta (hopefully!) and then could decrease frequency and add in Crinone, she said the farther along we get, the less important the support is to the pregnancy. If I have to do it a long time, I may ask for the 1in needle for my thighs.
@tinjp78 Thanks so much for the ongoing positivity, it is hard staying positive day after day, but I really appreciate the support everyone here offers me, it helps me remain hopeful!
@20T I hear you about the impatience, I am now resolved to trying not to test again to beta, so I feel a little better with hopefully taking it day by day, hour by hour. I really really hope we can both get our BFPs and get this month off to the most positive start!
@Prudence9-2 Fingers crossed you don't have the same reaction this time, my RE thought I may have a reaction to the sesame oil when I started using (I have sensitive skin), but luckily I haven't had any issue other than some mild itching occasionally to that area.
@prudence9-2 - I can't believe they *LET* you do thigh injections with a 1-1/2" needle! I'm so sorry you had to go through that ... I can only imagine how much that hurt! The nurse whom I had asked (she works at the satellite office that is only 90 min away from me v. the main office that is 2.5 hours) had suggested it when I did FET#3 because of the soreness/itchiness I was having, doing them in the lower side/back area, but said to order the 1" instead. I ordered a few - just in case I decided to stay with the way I had been doing it - but after the first two shots, I was a believer. I've had a friend who did her injections into her butt cheeks and said that was easier, as well. I would just be concerned with the amount of commuting and sitting I do each day.

So it's been another week and my progesterone still hasn't gone down enough to start... this is ridiculous. Have to say on BC another f'ing week. I am so over this.
@MamaK225 not sure, probably the last week of October or early November. I still haven't gotten started on medication yet. They are thinking it may be the prenatal I was taking that is keeping the progesterone up.
**TW** @Crystal321 - Ugh! That's so frustrating. I had originally wanted to do ours on the 13th (that was my DD's date) out of superstition, but DH is going to be traveling for work that whole week and it would've been logistically impossible to do ... had to push it out. I hate that yours hasn't come down. Was it leftover from a previous FET or just natural? I wonder if that might partly explain why we didn't have success on FET#3 - doing it so quickly (7.5 weeks) after FET#2.

@MamaK225 I’ve never done the injections in my thighs. Always in the butt. But because I’m so tiny they think I might have injected too deep so now I inject with 1 inch in the butt.
The numbness in the thighs was caused by the injections in the butt.

@prudence9-2 i believe it was nature's own... i used to use Stewart's. Going back to the old one. I guess they want it down to 0. I am just super frustrated, lol
@MamaK225 I’m using the gluteal muscle! High up on backside near flank. It wasn’t painful when I did it this AM! Hopefully it continues to be good. They gave me the option of the PIO or the vag suppository. I didn’t like the idea of cream oozing out and possible vaginal reactions as I’ve heard other women have. Plus I still want to be able to have sex and she said I couldn’t with the suppository. Lol.

@prudence9-2 wow you’re doing your own PIO shots? That’s so awesome! They showed my husband to do it during my appt and they marked my butt with a sharpie. I’m still really nervous about him doing it but since our first shot on Tuesday has to be done at a specific time, I have no choice. I can give people shots but can never to do it to myself. Before Ivf I was terrified of gettin shots.
@mjpbarretto I was also terrified of needles before! It’s amazing what we can do if we really want to
when I was doing IVF at least the needles were small. This long PIO needle really freaked me out. Also to twist like that so I’d be able to give it to myself and doing it with the left hand. But now I feel like I mastered it. Haha.
And thanks, I hope I won’t have the same reaction this time around!!

Hmmmmm. I'm not sure if I need to tw but here goes anyway... *TW* I'm 16dpo and this is the 3rd day AF is late. My Af isn't usually like that, it comes like a soldier, always on time, plus I got a regular cycle. Anyways, I got my first day urine and used a cheapie hpt, no second line, I felt/imagined there is a shadow but prob not. I'll check again tonight. end *TW*
my tentative FET date is 10/31, im not sure how this delay will affect this schedule, oh well hoping and praying for the best.
@tinjp78 that is odd. When was your ER? Could the cycle be off due to meds?
Which bring me to the question I’ve been wondering about and keep forgetting to ask my MD. I have an FET coming up in 2 weeks - today is CD7 - I’m on Estrace and will start taking PiO in about a week. Will these drugs keep me from ovulating naturally? If not, am I supposed to use protection this cycle - not that it’s likely that we’ll conceive naturally but still how does that work?
@rainbows2018 They should have you trigger once your follicles are the right size, so that they are controlling the timeline. People can ovulate through the meds but I think it’s rare. I was told once I triggered with the 10,000 units of HCG that we should either not have sex or use protection because they didn’t want me “to be Octomom” LOL.
@tinjp78 I would call your doctor tomorrow and ask. I got my period about a week after my ER. And immediately got on bcp. The meds will mess you up, for me, I just got my period wayyyy faster (I have PCOS so I never get my period on time)
@rainbows2018 are you on lupron? That's what suppresses ovulation. Are you monitoring your O? I would just email the question now, that it's top of mind.
@rainbow2018 and @coco305 thanks for the response. I checked my notes from my last appt with my Dr and she specifically told me to call her if I don't get my AF by 10/9...and so we are calling today.
Actually, after my ER last month, I got my AF on time but I got a weird spotting until 14 days after my first day of Af. This is supposedly the 2nd AF before I begin my prep for my FET at the end of this month.
Im not freaking out but actually a bit excited. I've not been late for a period so I can't help feeling hopeful that this could be it. On the other hand, there is a possibility that my body is reacting to the meds I had for my ER last Aug. The medicine I'm taking now is my nasal spray (the Gn-RH) agonist.
i checked my LH today with an OPK and there was a faint line.
@tinjp78 oh, I can't help but be excited for you, too! Are you coming off a reteieval cycle tho, or did you have a natural cycle break off in between? We're you temping? Did you track your BD to see if you might have had timing during FW??? I know for me, both times after retrieval I got AF only about 10 days later, instead of my usual 14. Now I'm on BCPs, tho, so I don't have any experience how the next complete unmedicated cycle went after ER...
@tinjp78 eeeee! I can’t help but feel excited for you either, please keep us posted!!!
Anxiously waiting for the FET this Wednesday!! Day 4 of the PIO and boy I’m startjng to feel it! Sore boobs this AM! Wowza!
i do have a question. I’ll be clarifying with my RE on a Wednesday, but the nurse told me to avoid “strenuous activity” during the 2WW. This is all relative to everyone though. My DH and I are going camping this weekend and we were planning some small hikes in the mountains. Does anyone think this is OK that’s had FET before? I plan on picking easy easy hikes so hopefully it’s more like walking for a couple miles.
Me 30 DH: 31 Married for 7 years Dx: MFI TTC since 2016 August 2017: IVF #1 (11 eggs retrieved, 8 mature, 3 fertilized with ICIS, 2 Frozen) FET #1: October 11th -- Beta only 12. CP FET #2: January 12th -- BFP!
@tnh0413 everyone's RE is different, but mine told me no excercises at all. Nothing that gets your body temp too warm, especially by your belly. Mine puts their patients on bed rest for the 3 days following the procedure as well (I think this is common). Personally I wouldn't risk it if you are able to reschedule, but that's just me.
@tnh0413 maybe my doctor is on the other side of the camp, but they told me resume activity as usual. No bedrest, nothing like that. Personally, I would just say use common sense and do what feels good and easy and comfortable for you, no going overkill or trying to set PRs lol, which it sounds like you're doing by picking easier routes and sticking to the "bunny trails." For me, I wouldn't stress, but definitely run it by your nurse if you're unsure. ;)
@tnh0413 my doctor is like @BusinessWife’s doctor, telling me I can resume normal activities. As long as you go on the easier hike, I think you should be okay.
At what time is your transfer on Wed? Mine is at 2 pm PST.

@BusinessWife Hello Im not coming off from a retrieval cycle. I'm on a two month natural cycle break. I was to wait for my second AF after ER to start my prep for FET for the end of Oct. I got my regular AF last month, but I got weird spotting which lasted for 14days from day1 of AF. Anyway, we tracked the dr prescribed BD and completely ignored that nasty spotting. My bbt is elevated.
@tnh0413 Wednesday is so soon!!! I'm so excited for you! I'll be thinking of you and cheering you on that day.

@tnh0413 - My RE said that "normal" activity is fine about 12 hours, post FET. But nothing too far out of the ordinary. I would think a casual hike or two would be just fine, but if you are nervous, you could always sit it out.
@tinjp78 - Exciting and frustrating all at once! Any news from your doc? We you doing a medicated FET? In the 4 FET cycles I've done/am doing, I've only gotten AF twice (when stopping BC, switching to Estrace for the escalation protocol), so not terribly unusual. Worse case, they'll check you @ your doctor and will tell you if you've ovulated (and you'll have to stop this cycle) and/or if you've got an unexpected surprise

But no other restrictions and can resume normal activities (whatever is normal for your) after 48-72 hours. I asked about gentle yoga night of transfer, and they discouraged it so I did a meditation with very light movement for first 15 minutes instead. I had my transfer Monday 10/2 and took it easy most of the week, but Thursday did resume my normal activities (including several walks) and over the weekend just stopped and rested when I was tired or wasn't feeling well (I've been having cramps, nausea, lightheadedness and headaches since 2dp5dt, so my body is forcing me to take it easier than normal). But if it's normal and comfortable for you to go camping (weather permitting), and plan those hikes, if you don't feel up to it, just listen to your body. But during one of my TWWs, I went up to New Hampshire for 5 days in the middle (3dp-8dp) and did some hikes, it was best for me and really got my mind off what was going inside my body, helped relieve stress and just make me feel so positive! Good luck with your transfer in 48 hours. I hear ya about the PIO too, the side effects are really confusing, especially after transfer!
@tnh0413 and @prudence9-2 Just stopping by to send you both super sticky vibes for your transfers on wed!!!

@tinjp78 going to get the injection every day seems very inconvenient. It’s ok for IVF as it’s only a couple of weeks. But with FET, I might have injections for 3 months!

@Crystal321 - Ugh!

Lol.

@prudence9-2 I hope you don’t have the same reaction to PIO this time. Keeping you in my prayers for a successful transfer next week.
when I was doing IVF at least the needles were small. This long PIO needle really freaked me out. Also to twist like that so I’d be able to give it to myself and doing it with the left hand. But now I feel like I mastered it. Haha.
And thanks, I hope I won’t have the same reaction this time around!!

@mjpbarretto I was using Nature's Own with DHA. I switched back to stewarts though and hopefully that fixes it
my tentative FET date is 10/31, im not sure how this delay will affect this schedule, oh well hoping and praying for the best.
My hpt got me like this early this morning...
@rainbows2018 are you on lupron? That's what suppresses ovulation. Are you monitoring your O? I would just email
the question now, that it's top of mind.
