@anewadventure @flowerpower5838 you both make fair and valid points. Perhaps I should have worded my post differently to say I did my research and found what I was most comfortable with rather than making specific statements.
I know when DS wasn't sleeping well I felt like there must be something wrong with me that I can't make him sleep or stand to listen to him cry. I don't think it matters what you choose someone always says something that makes you feel like you're a bad mom, so my apologies if my post made others feel that way. I have total faith that all of you genuinely love and care for your children and have their best interests at heart.

@elcd458 I'm wondering the same thing. Growing up we weren't allowed in our parents' room, and I'd like to do the same with our kids. At least keep them out of my bed. DH thinks my family is cold and heartless, while I think his is too emotional and attached, but I don't see why having/sharing personal space is indicative of your love.

@elcd458 I have the same thought. I don't remember ever sleeping in my parents' bed, but I would watch TV in the middle of them sometimes (in a king). We have a king, but our dogs sleep with us. One sleeps at our heads, so there goes any room. Also, if you move in your sleep and startle her awake she'll snap at you...sooo I really don't want my child sleeping next to her even if there was room!

@anewadventure @failuretofly Semi-on topic, said in a Jerry Seinfield voice - What is with people always asking how baby sleeps?? And it's always older women. I can smell their judgement from a mile away from my answer was not through the night lol.

@babybison My parents always left their door open at night in case we needed something or got sick, etc. but I never ever remember me or my little brother going in there for the purpose of sleeping with them. It's like we knew it wasn't an option or something. I do remember my brother being in a bassinet as a baby, and I'm sure I was too, so I know at some point we were physically in the room with them before moving to cribs. They would let us sleep in their bed (but by ourselves) if we were reeeeally sick and had to miss school, but I think that was mostly because their bedroom had a TV so it was easy to keep us entertained while also keeping us quarantined.

I remember the only time I was "allowed" in bed with my mom was during storms. Even if I got a little upset from a scary dream or something I would stay in my bed or I knew I would get in trouble. But lightning and thunder scared the bejeezus out of me; I would crawl in her bed shaking like a little chihuahua so I think she knew I was genuinely terrified lol

I remember sleeping in my parents' bed on occasion. I think mostly it was if I was sick or had a scary dream, it definitely wasn't a nightly occurrence. I would sleep between the two of them. I'd be okay with my kids doing the same, but I don't want to make a habit out of it (plus even with a king there will be limited room for the two of them at once!).

@flowerpower5838 OMG YES. That question was the bane of my existence for the first year. It made me ragey, then I'd take it to heart that I was failing because he was waking, even though I was actually totally fine with getting up with him. How is it anyone's business as long as DH and I are happy and well rested how often the baby is waking?
