  • @Saratiff definitely not too harsh! you are just being realistic and honest. I can barely eat anything and have lost 5 lbs. If it gets too extreme I will mention to my doctor. But, I am preparing myself for the worst (that this will last a long time) in hopes that I will be pleasantly surprised when it dies down. I honestly don't think my husband believed me when I told him how nauseous I was and that nothing sounded appetizing to me...now that he has heard me vomiting several times a day....he knows I'm not exaggerating. 

    @hannahb8319 I SO want to try eating low carb, as that was the diet I was on prior to getting pregnant. However, I just cannot even imagine the thought of me eating veggies and meat right now. All I can stomach is carbs right now, which sucks because I know eating them isn't making me feel any better.

  • For me I kept peppermints on me at all times they could calm my stomach sometimes. I also was careful to never let my stomach get empty - that always made it worse. When it got really bad I had meds to fall back on. Zofran didn't help me so I took phengren (sp?) when all else failed. 
  • May I vent a little? I'm feeling so sad because my appetite is like a 0 for the past week. Nothing sounds good to me and I have to force myself to eat because baby needs it and I know I feel hungry but the thought of eating just makes me cringe. I had one slice of cheese pizza and 10 nubs of baby carrots. Later I'll probably eat some Chobani yogurt. Please tell me it gets better  :'( . Thank you for the comments! I'm reading every one!
    It does get better. I spent the last two weeks starving, but with zero appetite. Now I'm eating all the everything...
  • Glad we're all in the same boat here. I have my first appointment scheduled for two Friday's from now and am keeping my fingers crossed the EDD according to conception is accurate. I don't wanna prolong this stage
  • finally gave in a took unison with b6 last night. I feel like a new women. Still nauseous, but no vomiting and actually could probably stomach some veggies today. 
  • B6 did nothing for me. Got the psi bands today and they've definitely taken the edge off (thank the good Lord).. honestly everyone's different and every pregnancy is different (this being my 3rd). Hoping this baby stops giving me hell soon so I can get back to adulting. 
  • @hannahb8319 I read it might be common to have low blood sugar during the 1st trimester. And I can attest to having low BS so for me plain carbs sound and work amazing right now. Rich foods, protein and meat make me feel put off. I have been low carb for a long time, love dairy and fish and now my fav meal is sourdough toast with Vegemite (salty Australian spread). 

    I would suggest dry ginger ale to sip on which for those feeling low BS or not eating a lot will help with energy. 
    I love freshly squeeze jucie right now because I can't eat as many meals so I can boost my nutrients through juice.

  • Preggo pops have been working ok today, but today has been a bad day.  Weirdly enough, snapple half and half has been amazing at work.

    I've always wanted to try vegemite. I love marmite, is it comparable?

    I absolutely need to try this.  I mentioned it MH last night, so he went to buy Unisom, but accidentally bought the diphenhydramine version instead of the doxylamine version.  So I'll be stopping at the store on my way home.  I really hope it helps.  
    @ninja_and_roo  I read online that B6 doesn't get absorbed well if taken with food, and to take it on an empty stomach.  Which doesn't make sense, since an empty stomach makes the nausea worse for me.  But I've been trying to do that, and I feel like it helps more that way.

  • @sandbar517 my OB recommended taking 25mg of B6 3 times a day before my meals. 
  • I haven't gotten to the nausea phase yet, but last pregnancy those seabandz (I think that's what they're called?) really helped me. I had moderate nausea but severe dizziness, and those little pressure points kept me in line. 
  • I'm struggling so hard right now. Just put on some Dora to babysit the kids and ordered pizza from my phone on the bathroom because if I get up I'll barf. DH is working until at least 9 so I'm going to eventually have to put the kids to bed. This sucks sooooooooo bad- haven't found anything yet that helps. Neither of my other two pregnancies were like this!
  • Mine is so bad I just had to quit my job:( I'm a nurse and standing for long periods to pass pills at a nursing home was killing me
  • Since week 6 (I'm 8 weeks now) I feel nausea almost every day. I thought it was weird that it was only nausea and gagging to awful "to me" smells and not actually throwing up yet. I'm glad I found this thread and see some of your remedies and see that I'm not the only one experiencing nausea w/out vomiting. Not that I want to vomit but sometimes I wish that I would hoping it would make me feel better. I'm a FTM, so this is all new to me and still waiting to tell people about it.
  • I found ice water with lemon and ginger helps. Watered down cranberry juice helps too. Sour patch lids help but then that’s all I will have eaten and wreaks havoc on my mood...sugar rush then crash. 
  • I have HG. I threw up so many times last pregnancy and was hospitalized 3 times. I have the worst anxiety about it. I started vomiting daily on Monday. Ugh. It's so hard to get through work. Yesterday and today I took an expired Zofran (from my last pregnancy). I had to. Hoping they give me something when I go next week. Nothing worked my last pregnancy. This time I ordered some Preggie drops and ginger chews - hoping they help. I hate resorting to medicine but I have so much anxiety. Everyday feels like I've got to climb a mountain. I don't know how some women do it for an entire pregnancy. Getting to week 14(ish) right now feels like an eternity. Ugh! Luck to all of you.
  • All I keep saying is I am so sick and tired of being sick and tired. It seems to be worst than it was before and while the B6 and unisom have helped, it has not fully taken it away. Hurry up second tri!!

  • So I managed to eat an entire garbanzo bean salad sandwich today for lunch (vegan here!) Only took me an hour! I would take a bite or two and then come back to it a few minutes later. And sip warm lemon lime Gatorade in between. I'm finding if I just literally take a few bites of something every few minutes it's easier. And crunching some ice chips rather than water. I don't know why by water is the worst drink right now. I also managed to keep an apple down today. Only had a few gagging incidents! I might try some hard candies though, thanks ladies! I see the doc tomorrow so hoping for some zofran as well. It was my lifeline with my first! 
  • @theletlers Vegan here too!  Did you get side eyes about being vegan during pregnancy?
