Stretch Marks : oil, cream, or don't bother?

Re: Stretch Marks : oil, cream, or don't bother?

  • My mom has terrible stretch marks... I got lucky and have none. 4th pregnancy - age 41... so my skin is getting thin and losing elastic. I have used "mothers special blend" oil since the beginning of my first pregnancy in 2003. I gained 65 lbs in my first pregnancy (I'm 5 feet tall). I don't know if the no stretch marks has to do with the mothers special blend, but I'm definitely using it morning and night. I think its an almond oil, cocoa butter, vitimin e oil and coconut oil blend.

  • I'm using mothers special blend, but I don't think it's helping.  I've had stretch marks since I've been 13, so I'm over it.
  • I read that Belli Oil is good and that it's important to spend a lot of time massaging it in. Also, hydration and exercise. I've been trying to finish a Brita pitcher a day. I don't even think that's a lot, but it's definitely a struggle for me!

    I found this article helpful.

"Dr. Wang offered up a few pieces of advice for pregnant women. For one thing, he said you should start thinking about preventing stretch marks in your second trimester. "What I would suggest for prevention would be creams containing centella [like Belli Elasticity Belly Oil, $34] or hyaluronic acid, as well as some kind of stretching or aerobic exercise. Massaging each quadrant of the abdomen for about fifteen minutes each day—those would be safe things you can do during pregnancy that might be helpful," he says.

    Be healthy and happy XO
