Your "ticker change day" is the day you switch over to being another full week pregnant (ie: 5 weeks instead of 4 weeks and 6 days).

If your EDD is 5/1, 5/8, 5/15, 5/22, or 5/29, this is for you!

1.  How far along are you?  How big is baby?

2.  How are you feeling?

3.  Any appointments coming up?

4.  Rants/raves/questions?

5.  GTKY:  If you could give one piece of advice to your 18 year old self, what would it be?

  • 1.  How far along are you?  How big is baby?
    6 weeks, sweetpea
    2.  How are you feeling?
EXHAUSTED!! The fatigue has not let up since last week. I just want to nap All. Of. The Time.
    3.  Any appointments coming up?
First appointment is Oct. 17 - two more weeks!
    4.  Rants/raves/questions?
Question for ladies who have used a midwife in the past: Did it really make a difference? I'm looking at practices that include midwives, and considering seeing a midwife instead of a doctor as long as no complications arise. I will definitely have a hospital birth though.
    5.  GTKY:  If you could give one piece of advice to your 18 year old self, what would it be?

Take advantage of free college in the Navy so you don't have to do it later. (I still haven't finished my degree!)

I wish I had known how good I had it for my first pregnancy. I am a SAHM and had left my job already (I worked long hours and was on my feet a lot) so I did so much napping. Now I have a 2 year old to keep up with. I know some women (superheroes!) have it much harder which I can’t even imagine.
Girl, same! I slept so much the end of my first pregnancy and even after DD was born, I was able to nap whenever she napped. Now I have to go to stupid work and when I get home to I have to do my chores until it's time for bed. Definitely going to sneak in a car nap at lunch today though
  • @sparklingdiamond This is my third time on progesterone and I've always been told 12 weeks. If I remember right, it's because the placenta takes over between 10-14 so 12 covers it without having to test again (since it's something that builds up in your system over time, 2 weeks off wouldn't drop fast enough to be concerned.)

    yay progesterone.... lol

  • @ladystinson Thanks!  I still have some left and it was kinda pricey, so I guess it wouldn't hurt to finish out the two weeks.  Although I certainly can't wait to be done with it! When you stopped, did you go down in dose or stop cold turkey?  I am on two a day right now.
  • @sparklingdiamond I was on 200mg once a day (at bedtime) and I just stopped. I didn't have any issues personally. Personally, I was told to follow what I did last time so I'll be stopping cold turkey again (in 4 long weeks... lol)

    what's your total daily dose?

  • @ladystinson Total is 200 mg I think.  100 in the morning and 100 at night.
  • 1.  How far along are you?  How big is baby?
    8 weeks, raspberry
    2.  How are you feeling?
Pretty nauseous all day long, making myself anything is quite the chore. Also feeling anxious, I have been having light spotting for a few weeks and my first appointment is next Wednesday.
    3.  Any appointments coming up?
    10/11 so still a week
    4.  Rants/raves/questions?
Just frustrated of how crumby I feel making it so I can’t be a good wife or mother. Feeling like a major slacker.

Don’t make promises you know you can’t keep.
  • @sparklingdiamond I wouldn't think they'd make you step it down then. if it was 200 twice a day then maybe. but 200 split like that, you should be fine to just hard stop them (disclaimer: of course check with your ob because I'm not a dr lol)

  • 4.  Rants/raves/questions?
My RE said I could stop the progesterone yesterday, but I know my OB had said I would stop around 12 weeks.  For those that have taken progesterone, when did you stop it?

I haven't stopped yet, but have been instructed to stop it once I hit 11 weeks. No one said anything about a gradual step down so I don't plan to, and I'm on a really big dose (600mg a day as suppositories).
  • 1.  How far along are you?  How big is baby?
9 weeks and a grape! (Which I've been eating a lot of lately!)

    2.  How are you feeling?
Hitting 9 weeks has been a good milestone for me. My anxiety is finally starting to subside a bit. I was feeling pretty good with no morning sickness or fatigue until last weekend and my fiance and I joked that baby, "came in like a wrecking ball." I have been exhausted. Also, I tend to get dizzy/lightheaded really easily. But overall, really good and I cannot complain.

I learned a little over a week ago at my first ultrasound that I have a small SCH but luckily I've had no spotting/bleeding from that and no activity restriction. Praying it heals up on its own and quickly.

    3.  Any appointments coming up?
First ultrasound was right at 8 weeks and we saw baby and heartbeat. Next is at 12 weeks so 3 more weeks to go!

    4.  Rants/raves/questions?
Two raves, unrelated. First, I am loving listening to pregnancy/childbirth/baby podcasts. It's been a great way for me to start absorbing info as I do things like drive, walk the dogs, clean, cook, etc. Second, we just watched the series premier of The Good Doctor and LOVED it. I have a new appreciation for laying on the couch and watching TV thanks to this pregnancy. :)

    1.  How far along are you?  How big is baby?  10w Strawberry

    2.  How are you feeling?
Much better! I don't feel sick all day, usually just in the evenings and I have more energy. I still crash in the afternoons but before the I'm fine. It's so nice not to feel like death all day, every day!

    3.  Any appointments coming up?
Nope. I saw my midwife last week.

    4.  Rants/raves/questions?
I'm loving flavored sparkling water when I feel sick- it really helps me. I gave up on the zofran because it made me sleepy and the unisom and B6 didn't do anything for me.

    5.  GTKY:  If you could give one piece of advice to your 18 year old self, what would it be?
Stop ruining that beautiful body with alcohol!!!
  • @jessdup89, I used a practice that had both doctors and midwives.  I'm pretty sure a midwife delivered DS.  I had a med free hospital birth and everything was great!  The hospital was very good about honoring your requests, so I think it all depends on your hospital.  In the end, the person on call delivers your baby, so I didn't get TOO attached to any one person.

    1.  How far along are you?  How big is baby?
    6 weeks - sweet pea

    2.  How are you feeling?
I woke up feeling pretty rough.  I have been really tired, so that's not new, but I felt so nauseous.  When I was in the shower, I was dry heaving and would have thrown up, but I hadn't eaten anything since dinner the night before.  I've been gagging brushing my teeth too.  I nibbled on breakfast, so I ended up being okay.  It was just a hard morning.  I know a lot of you have it worse, so overall, I can't complain!

    3.  Any appointments coming up?
October 13th - Next Friday  I don't know what this first appointment is going to entail because I wasn't with this practice when I had DS.  I had some early spotting and cramping, so I'm really anxious to hear the heartbeat and make sure the baby is doing well.

    4.  Rants/raves/questions?
No rants this week.  I'm just praying that this little one is growing and healthy right now.

    5.  GTKY:  If you could give one piece of advice to your 18 year old self, what would it be?
Don't worry about your weight!  One day you will WISH for that body!  Also, DON'T GO TO THAT PRICEY COLLEGE!  You will be working your butt off for the next 10 years to get that thing paid off!

I ended up in the ER after delivery and my midwife stayed with me and held my hand the entire time. I don’t know of too many doctors that would do that!
  • 1.  How far along are you?  How big is baby?
    10 weeks, a strawberry

    2.  How are you feeling?
After feeling great all last week while traveling the nausea and throwing up returned last night with a vengeance. Only positive is I don’t feel quite as exhausted all the time.

    3.  Any appointments coming up?
Tomorrow! I finally have my first appointment and u/s.

    4.  Rants/raves/questions?
Assuming tomorrow’s appointment goes well we’re telling our grandmas then announcing. We took pictures of the boys last week at Disneyland and I can’t wait to share them.

    5.  GTKY:  If you could give one piece of advice to your 18 year old self, what would it be?
When your high school boyfriend breaks up with you move on, the world isn’t ending, and date other guys.

I go to combined OB/midwife practice. With DS1 I saw the midwives and loved them. The oncall midwife came to the hospital after we called them when we were having issues with the nursing staff not listening to me about my failed epidural (they usually don’t show up until closer to delivery once you get an epidural). She discovered problems with my labor and stayed with me from that point on through my c-section. She held my hand and helped keep me calm through the spinal since DH couldn’t be in there. She was absolutely amazing!
  • 1.  How far along are you?  How big is baby? 7 weeks, and about the size of a raspberry

    2.  How are you feeling?
Mild nausea most days, worse after trying to eat. Sleepy alllll the time!

    3.  Any appointments coming up?
    First appointment on Friday!

    4.  Rants/raves/questions?
Toast first thing in the am and tylenol PM are my lifesavers right now

    5.  GTKY:  If you could give one piece of advice to your 18 year old self, what would it be?
To go to my dream college or to not be afraid to move far away
  • @jessdup89 Yes, having a midwife made a huge difference for me. My first birth experience was with an OB and I ended up being induced because she was going to be on Christmas vacation when I was due and she said I "would NOT want to be 41 weeks pregnant." Induction came with a lot of complications for me and the baby plus 9 months recovery from an episiotomy. The epidural was a nightmare (I could feel him fishing around my spine). My OB barely managed to catch the baby then ran off to another delivery.

The second time around I had a midwife, went to 41 weeks, went into labor naturally, pushed that baby out without meds and fully recovered from tearing within 6 weeks. My midwife gave me her cell so I could text any questions and call when I went into labor and she and my doula were at the hospital with me from the time I was admitted until after my daughter nursed for the first time. Huge difference so I'm doing everything the same way this time.
  • 1.  How far along are you?  How big is baby?
    6 weeks a sweet pea
    2.  How are you feeling?
Still soo exhausted. Bits of nausea
    3.  Any appointments coming up?
Tomorrow intake and probably will get a real appointment day at that time
    4.  Rants/raves/questions?
    Nothing at the moment
    5.  GTKY:  If you could give one piece of advice to your 18 year old self, what would it be?
dont be afraid to be out on your own. Go to college out of state see more.

  • I had a midwife for my first one and it was fantastic! I ended up having a c section, but they were still at the hospital and were in recovery and everything. It was reassuring because I knew that someone I knew would be there, with doesn’t always happen with an OB and they came to visit me at my house after I was discharged so my son could leave NICU earlier!
  • Y'all have definitely made me want to see a midwife now!
  • I posted in the wrong ticker day change last week, I really go here based on LMP.
    1.  How far along are you?  How big is baby?
    7 weeks, blueberry
    2.  How are you feeling?
nauseated and exhausted.  awesome with a 2 year old toddler and working full time.  (i know i'm not alone)  Today i threw up in my car, thankfully i had an empty cup to use to catch it.  I'm now at work, and feel just gross.
    3.  Any appointments coming up?
First appointment isn't until 10/25! I can be patient sometimes, but I am really having a hard time being patient for this.
    4.  Rants/raves/questions?
When is everyone going to announce to their managers at work?  last pregnancy I think I waited till i was about 16 weeks.  Not sure if I will be able to last that long this time.
    5.  GTKY:  If you could give one piece of advice to your 18 year old self, what would it be?
Don't be afraid to be independent and go for what you want.  Spend time with loved ones more.

I'm wondering the same thing! I actually JUST started my new job about a month ago, so the timing for this isn't ideal (but when is it ever?). I'm definitely going to wait until after the first ultrasound. My supervisor (under my manager) already found out because I can't keep a poker face to save my life. He doesn't seem to mind at all, so I hope my actual boss will be accommodating as well! I'm working in the federal gov, so I know there are certain procedures in place that will keep me safe from any discrimination. Since I'm so new though, I'm confused about the maternity leave policy. And bummed because I have to save all of my vacation and sick days for after baby comes and I'm not going to have much :(
  • 1.  How far along are you?  How big is baby?
11 weeks. Baby is the size of a lime.

    2.  How are you feeling?
