Hi! I'm about 8 weeks pregnant right now and couldn't be happier about this pregnancy! Aside from a couple of close friends, my husband and I haven't told anyone. I've really enjoyed this experience of just us knowing and dreaming about what is to come. At first, I felt like week 12 couldn't come fast enough, so that I could tell everyone. Now, I'm dreading it. I think I'm afraid of friendships changing, or about families being especially critical (which both of our moms tend to be). Is it normal not to be excited to tell everyone?
Re: Not excited to announce first pregnancy
As for your mom and MIL, it's kind of the same thing. They'll likely tell you whatever they want to say. You will either have to stand up to them or ignore it. You will be getting input from tons of people. When I was 30 something weeks with DD a random guy in the grocery store told me I should put back my soda because it was bad for baby. Unfortunately it's just part of it and all of your feelings are justified.
On the other side you will have doting friends and family who want to pamper you and the baby. You will have strangers smile at you and encourage you. You'll get to have people love your child as their own. It's really exciting, even if some of it totally sucks.
