Thoughts on Lorelei? Scarlett?

I love Lorelei! I think its very beautiful, love the way it sounds, and how original it is. I'm torn because of the spelling, Gilmore Girls references(I'm a huge fan), and that Lori might be a nickname. My other option is Scarlett and I'm torn because that might be too sexual and I don't like Scar as a nickname but its beautiful and strong. My husband prefers Lorelei and thinks Scarlett is trashy but he'll support whichever I choose. I honestly love them both and am losing so much sleep over this. What are your opinions on the names? Thinking of spelling Lorelei as Loralie, Lorelei, or Loralei. Thank you all so much. You have no idea how much stress I'm going through over this!

They are both really pretty, but I have a slight preference for Scarlett. If you check the Social Security website, Scarlett is much more popular than Lorelei (I'm not sure if popularity would sway you towards or away from a name).

It would bother me If my husband disliked the name I picked, so if you truly love them both, maybe go with Lorelei.

I personally prefer Lorelei over Scarlett, but the real cincher here is that your husband doesn't like Scarlett and you both like Lorelei.

I would stick with the traditional spelling.

I slightly prefer Scarlett but if your husband thinks it is trashy I'd def go with Lorelei, the regular spelling.

I personally like both names but Lorelei takes the cake. I'm a huge fan of Gilmore girls myself and I've always loved the name. If you choose Lorelei, I don't think you would regret it.

I agree with PP that both you and your husband should love the name. Lorelei is very pretty. I've never seen Gilmore Girls, but I do know the reference. I don't think that that's a deal breaker, though.

Honestly, neither are tremendously original. Lorelei has grown much more popular because of -- you guessed it -- The Gilmore Girls. Scarlett has just grown more popular and is pretty trendy right now.

Please don't intentionally misspell your child's name to make the name different or unusual.

I say keep looking.
