Re: September IVF

  • What a wonderful result @adirat !!!  Fx for more and more good news to come.... ❤❤❤
  • @adirat wow! Amazing ER! I know you were concerned with your special genetic situation but that's really great by any standards! Fx on your fert report for Saturday!

@rainbows2018 hope you are doing better today. Keeping everything crossed for good reports back from the PGS testing next week.

@businesswife sending you thoughts and prayers for your freeze report today. I bet you and DH are on tenterhooks waiting to know.

@fuzzydust really really crossing fingers for your beta today too!

@artemis618 and @latvaughanash do you both plan to freeze all or more fresh transfers on the horizon next week?

I think I've updated everything in the spreadsheet - and added a few rows for the extra things like additional betas and PGS/PGD testing. Playing with this helps to keep me sane. Well... sane-ish...

AFM amongst the other symptoms, the cramps have been constant and increasing in strength the last two days. DH has been reminded that in case they get really bad or I spike a temp then he should take me to the hospital just in case. I'm really hoping it's just my body being too efficient using the progesterone from the crinone, but have the ectopic risk in the back of my head. For now it gets me out of grocery shopping and household chores this weekend :-) and I'm relaxing on the couch with the fire on as it's raining here today.

Do you have a normal AMH still? And AFC?
I'm also 39 with an AMH of 0.65 and AFC over the last 6 months of 1-4 each time only... so we weren't expecting numbers like yours, but my RE was still disappointed to only retrieve 1 and I'm researching like crazy for things to discuss at the follow up

  • @adirat thanks for the encouragement! I have no idea what's normal or not and at least if the progesterone is giving these symptoms then it should at least mean good progesterone levels!

And big congrats on your fert report - 7/9 is really awesome! fx for the freeze report too!

  • @adirat  Yay for your 7!  Another great % fertilized hopefully means great quality :). (We got our only PGS normal when 8/10 retrieved fertilized so in my head it works this way :p)

@emmasemm. Thanks for updating my column :) We certainly weren’t expecting numbers like those either.  The history of my other cycles (all at age 39) is in my signature (nothing like these #s).  If “normal” AMH >1, then as of last December (at 39 and 2 months) it was (1.42).  No clue where it is now.  Before this, I think I’d only had AFs counted at baseline after being suppressed by OCP or lupron, and my usual is 8-9.  When I went for my initial consult with the new RE a month ago (after a 3 month break), it was the day before FF thinks I ovulated (he confirmed that I hadn’t yet), and he counted ~17 tiny ones, which surprised me.  That was approximately with what I started this cycle as well.  So I think a natural start (nothing before starting MDL and stims on day 3) made a big difference for me.  And the microdose lupron flare protocol (with stepped down stims based on E2) was totally new for me.

This is such a frustrating part of science because so much is unknown and everyone is different.  Protocol makes a difference, and while we’ve gotten freakish (for me) numbers this time, quality is what matters at the end of the day and that remains to be seen. Who knows?  Your one could be it!

  • @adirat. Congratulations!!!!  7 lucky embies!!!  So happy for you, and will be thinking of you in the coming days... ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
  • I KNOW I wasn't supposed to test at home but I guess I just was hoping I'd see a positive after so many negatives.

    Is there hope for me?

This is my 1st IVF cycle. We went through 3 IUI's, one negative and 2 miscarried.

I had a DNC before we started this cycle and everything has progressed so well. Stimulated and got 13 eggs, 7 fertilized (4 ICSI, 3 reg) and we ended up with 6 viable blasts. 2 were transferred to me and we have 4 on ice. I just don't know how many more disappointments I can handle.

My transfer was Friday 9/22 and my beta is scheduled for this Wednesday.  I got a negative this am - not even a faint line.

I have symptoms but I've written it all off to the progesterone I'm taking so I cannot tell anything.

  • Ok guys let’s get more personal! I’m 6dp3dt and am dying to take a test. But only if it’s positive :confounded: my DH has talked me out of it three times today.

But I noticed a few days ago (sorry tmi) when I was changing that there was some very obvious “pimples” on my nipples. This is very new and they have continued to get more obvious and red. I looked it up and they are called Montgomery tubercles and are common in early pregnancy. Have any of you ladies had these and do you think it’s a side effect of PIO? I haven’t seen much on it being a side effect.

  • @loverin.  Don't do it.  The chances are so much greater the test will look negative - even if you are totally ku!!!  It's a setup for heartbreak... and then you may still get a + in a few more days...  Not having been there myself yet, I say try to just remind yourself, that YES!  Today, you are pregnant!  You don't need to take a test because it's true!  But 6dp3dt is way too early. ❤

@businesswife I’m not going to. Just really considered it but it wouldn’t have been first morning urine and like you said, it could be too early and I’d take a negative really hard. I’ll likely not test before beta Wednesday.

@loverin I agree with @BusinessWife.  I don't know whats wrong with me but this IVF cycle I tested a couple of times, I'm 8dp3dt and it's negative, but there's like an indent so now I'm obsessing and googling over indents and evaporation lines and man... it's not fun. I didn't even know that was a thing until now.  :/ Anyway!  I hope you can find something to distract yourself and put your mind at ease! Thinking of you!

@jaygrand welcome to our group! I know the feeling of trying to figure out if symptoms are progesterone or something else.  It sounds like you did a fresh cycle d5t on 9/22? The 2WW is torturous.  We're almost all going through it now so we're here for you! :)

  • @cxsimo08 thanks for the welcome.  I've done the 2ww a couple times and it's never been this difficult and I don't know what made me test, but I regret it. I'd rather have seen nothing. I did have a fresh transfer. I dont know what the stats are  frozen versus fresh - I would assume fresh would be best, but i dont know. I wish the best for everyone here. It's been a really hard weekend. Not going to lie.

  • @loverin I agree with @businesswife and @cxsimo08 -- I would wait. That said, I think that symptom is a good sign! I haven't heard of progesterone doing that before. But give yourself another couple days :)

@jaygrand Sorry it's so difficult for you :( My RE told me that frozen has a higher success rate than fresh, actually. So while I very much hope that your fresh transfer takes, don't worry if you have to try frozen, too.

  • @adirat thanks, I hope so too. I'm grasping to a little bit of hope and just trying to get through the weekend.

@artemis618 thanks a lot - yes I could see your outcomes in your siggys but wasn't sure what your baseline was. Looks like you have a much better AMH and higher AFC than me. Though the numbers you got would be good for an under 35!
Do you get an update today, or waiting for the final freeze report on Tuesday?

@latvaughanash fx for your D3 update today and that you're still on target for Tuesday transfer!

@loverin I totally sympathize with you, it's torture not knowing and so many of the symptoms could be either the real thing or just the progesterone. Like @adirat said I can't see anything that reports it as a common progesterone side effect, but I did find some research related to HCG. So I'm going to keep my fingers crossed for you!
And whether to test or not is very individual. I also can handle the one random test coming out negative very well, so that's why I've tested every day since trigger (as mine was an HCG one). I actually feel like it's been a bit of a de-sensitizing process. I knew of course it would be negative each day at e.g. 2dp2dt so for me it's actually taken some stress away from the testing so far. Not sure how well this strategy will work in the last day or two before beta, but I will let you all know. I have successfully used the de-sensitizing approach for several "phobias" before and I guess you could call fear of seeing BFNs a phobia!

edited as I pressed post instead of save lol! Trigger happy ;-)

@cxsim08 that's still early but an indent is maybe just the start... although we transferred same day you are one day ahead of me... how is the SS going too?

@jaygrand welcome, like the others said there's a lot of us in the same boat, so looking forward to giving support to you and receiving it back! @loverin has her beta on Wednesday too

@cmiller73 hope all is good with you during TWW too

@jaygrand this process is so hard of course ur having a tough time. you're not out at all!!! Every time a transfer is done he sometimes takes ur pnut a few to decide where they would like to make their hope for the next 9 months.  I did an FET this time and tested early at 7dpt and I starting crying as I saw nothing.  Others were getting positives at 5/6 days.  Now I thought maybe like u there was something by the dent too and I questioned it but was still so sad.  My friend took the pic and put that effect to make it look like a negative exposed photo and she swore she saw something.  She actually helped keep me a Lil sane through the day.  Trust me I'm still panicked everyday.  8dpt I saw the faintest of lines.  9dpt was a hair darker and 10dpt it stayed the same.  Finally 11dpt I felt like I could really see the line.  1st beta was 75, 2nd 246.  Hang in there it does take longer for some to get a positive why they tell you to not test!!!  I thought I was being good waiting till day 7 as I was planning on testing the day before beta....but I see why they say not to do it!!

Fresh vs Frozen there's so much on it and every clinic is different.  I was terrified of doing an FET and only wanted to do a fresh transfer, to me it was snap crackle and pop.  ER Done wait a few days and right back got ur pnut.  I think it's perfect.  (TW I did do a fresh and got my BFP with twins but also MC at 10wks so no more fresh for me...really it was more for my age and RE and OH wanting phs done.)
You're not out and are still PUPO! Try and hang on to that!

@latvaughanash Amazing!!!! So happy for you! <3

@emmasemm Thanks lady! How is your 2ww going? Is your cramping feeling better at all?  I'm getting cramping like you too.  I was at Trader Joes today and it was bad, had to go sit in the car. I'm sure it's just the progesterone trying to trick me slowly.  Try not to worry too much about ectopic.  My doctor said that was a very low risk with IVF and decreasing more and more.  What is SS? Sorry this is the first cycle I've been on fertility boards and can't find that one on google! :)

  • @latvaughanash That's wonderful news! I hope they all keep growing beautifully!

@cxsimo08 I know, the abbreviations can be so confusing... I've seen SS can mean "symptom spotting" (looking for symptoms that you're pregnant before testing during tww) or "special snowflake" ;)

  • @cxsimo08 SS is symptom spotting, if you do this too much it makes you BSC (bat sh*t crazy) ;-)
Im not sure if I should congrats for getting cramps??? Feels a weird thing to say!
The cramping was more manageable today, but I'm so bloated and tired and my boobs, well DH is happy at least ;-) Though now I'm wondering if the aches I've felt today are a cold/flu/virus as I've got that "pre tonsillitis" feeling in the back of my throat tonight...
Good news is I have the next two days off work so don't have to do much - except a long awaited neurologist appointment! Because I mean I haven't seen enough doctors the last month hehe...

@latvaughanash Yay ER day buddy!  That’s fantastic news.

And thanks for asking @emmasemm - I actually just got a day 3 update text that I wasn’t expecting (which makes me wonder if this guy delivers bad news via text too...):  “17 of the embryos developing well! Will update you in 2 days”  I didn’t even ask whether I’d get a day 3 update since (sort of like with the monitoring), it’s not like I can do much about how they’re doing. Also, my first cycle this year I was super annoyed that my RE didn’t even tell me I wouldn’t hear anything between fert and day 5 reports, so I just kind of prepare for that now (except when we were considering a day 3 xfer).  So grateful most of them are still in the game (especially since our *TW* loss was a year ago today), though the tough days are ahead...

I get anxious just reading about all your TWW experiences.  The wait between ER and PGS results nearly kills me (although sadly, I think perhaps it has gotten a touch easier with experience).  I don’t even know what I’ll do when I finally get to transfer something.

  • @artemis618 your magic power continues!!! 17 on day 3 really must be some kind of record...

I'm really interested with all the text message communication many of you get... and voicemails...

For us, patient confidentiality is super strict. I even had to sign a separate form to say they could give our results to my DH (e.g. In case he answers my phone or they can't reach me)! When I answer the phone they ask me for my full name, DOB, DHs full name and DOB and my insurance card number. Just to make sure they give the info to the right person!

Ah-ha! Thank you @adirat and @emmanemm! I like the special snowflake one haha! @emmanemm I know what you mean with the boobs! I'm only wearing sports bras now, even to work! Oh no, I'm sorry  your feeling sick but it will be nice to be off work.  Do you have any good shows you're going to binge?

So my SS is mainly cramping but I do have a hives on my hand and down my arm that appeared today.  I'm kind of freaking out about it because nothing on google sounds good if you get hives and if I remember correctly, last time I did IVF I had hives on my hand too and we all know how that one ended up. Anyone else have hives before?

@emmasemm thatnks for checking in :) I'm doing ok.  I've been crazy busy through yesterday getting jobs filled at work before I left for vacation this week (YAY for vacation!)

Symptoms aren't that bad... a bit nauseous every morning and night (worse when hungry), still light headed and winded with activity so trying to keep it minimal (which is hard to considering my job is 100% on your feet and running between two buildings all day...).  Still feel bloated but not uncomfortably like before when recovering from ER.  I think I was much more swollen this ER so that made it all worse.  Peeing more frequently and random weird food 'moments' (ate one serving of baked beans and was like OMG these are awesome... went for seconds and was like OMG GET THESE OUT OF MY MOUTH THEY TASTE LIKE METAL).  More crampy at night but have that lovely dull ache right above my pubic bone. I also will get a quick headache for about 5-10 minutes then it goes away... not sure if it's the Estrace or (FX) rising hCG :)

The countdown to the Anniversary escape (starts Thursday right after beta!) begins... 4 sleeps til beta!

@latvaughanash thats an amazing update!!  You have some over achievers there :)  Excited to hear your next update!!

emmasemm you said it best! @artemis618 let the magic continue, great update!!

cmiller73 seems like your keeping busy which is great, but I have to say that metal taste I've heard is a pregnancy symptom :)  excited for your beta?  Are you POAS prior?

cxsimo08 are you in pain at all anywhere?  what else are you taking.  Beside my vag being on fire i got a rash/hives on my chest and face from it.

@emmasemm i'm surprised your beta isnt a lil sooner...How much progestrone are u taking.  I'm so bad i never know what its "suppose" to make you feel.

@Hopeful_mom I'm not in pain other than cramps but the hives on my hand spreading down my arm itch.  I'm just taking pre-natal and PIO and I didn't change soaps or anything and been pretty damn lazy around the house all weekend.  Maybe I'm allergic to the oil that the progesterone is in but that wouldnt align with your rash since you're on crinone,  which I don't think has oil right? Does your rash hurt or just itch?

@cmiller73 I heard metal taste is a pregnancy sign too! Fingers crossed.

  • @artemis618 I love that you got a surprise day 3 update! AND that it's so good! Yay :) It is really interesting that they texted you that information, but whatever, I would like to have it however it was delivered! But you're right, hopefully they take the news into consideration before just sending a text!

@Hopeful_mom My husband is sure it's his "super sperm" but I think it's because of a bunch of changes I made after reading It Starts with the Egg. We won't ever know, but glad they're doing well so far!
