PGAL Friends I need you

I am sorry to start a separate thread for this but I am at work and mid-panic. I had been feeling goldfish wiggles this week but I feel like I haven't felt any today or yesterday and it's freaking me out. Plus when I wipe there is a small amount of pink blood that I am almost positive is from irritated labia but is still freaking me the frick out. I just panicked and same-day ordered a Doppler. I can't get out of work until late this afternoon but would you try and go to the doctor or take a chill pill

  • Anytime you are anxious like this just call up your OB as soon as they open.  <3  Hope all is well.
  • At this point it’s completely normal to only feel sporadic wiggles. They don’t even have you start counting them until 3rd tri. If it will make you feel better definitely call the doctor.
  • I had some swimming going on every night for four days in a row and then three days with nothing. My appointment was Wednesday—the third day of nothing. I still haven’t had any movement that I can notice but at my appointment Wednesday she found the heartbeat right away on the first try and we listened to it for a couple of minutes because my two year old was fascinated. Sending you hugs. I agree that your peace of mind is important so give your doctor a call.
  • Firstly, huge hugs. Secondly, I'll echo what others have said. Go to the Dr or call your OB for some peace of mind. It's totally normal not to feel flutters consistently yet. But I also get what mind torture that is.

It'll give you peace of mind to call. So call. When in doubt, call. That's what they're there for.
  • I'm so sorry you are going through this amount of anxiety hopefully for nothing. It is so hard to shake those negative thoughts!

I am just now getting over a stomach flu and couldnt feel any 'goldfish wiggles'. It's hard to remember baby is still so tiny and hard to feel at times.

Like other posters have said, if you need to visit your OB to put your anxiety at ease, do it. The staff understands, and it is better for you.

Please do not be shocked if you cant find baby with a home doppler! They can be difficult to learn, and can cause greater anxiety. Have your nurse teach you how to use one.

    *hugs*
  • I am completely with everyone else:
It's normal to feel something and then not for a bit. They're both surprisingly big at this stage and also still small and not super strong and have plenty of cushioning. It's completely possible that baby just changed position to one where there's more room to move around. Or is just doing more resting while you're awake.

But, the anxiety is real and it's not good for you. I just look at my copay and just ask, "Is it worth $X for peace of mind?" Yep. You could even stop by a doc in a box for this one if OB can't get you in.

And, as far as the home doppler goes, ditto what @cowboycorgi said. It can both be a huge relief on days that I'm starting to get anxious (I try to keep it to once a week) but, this week, it took a little longer to find it and I'm not going to lie, I was starting to freak out. As the pregnancy moves forward the location moves. And, as the pregnancy has moved forward, baby's now able to dodge it much better so there's some amount of chasing the kid around. Even did it to my OB. She put the doppler on and found it in an instant but it was immediately gone and she had to go searching again. So just remember that it is merely one tool that you are not fully trained to use that isn't the same quality as your doctor's and if you can't find it, it's most likely not indicative of a problem.

Let us know what the doctor says.  <3

  • I second what @Cowboycorgi said - those home Dopplers can cause more stress than necessary - if you feel it will help you, just make sure you have somebody show you how to use it so that you don't worry yourself further.

Call your doc and see if they can squeeze you in for a quick check in.

    Sending virtual hugs!
  • No advice, just with you <3

hopefully you're able to get some peace of mind asap

  • Go in for peace of mind, dear. I know if it were me that’s what it would take to calm me down. Hugs your way.
  • I agree with everyone else. If you need to see your doc, give them a call to at least ease your mind. But it is normal not to feel any consistent movement at this stage. Or any movement at all. Sending good thoughts to you!
  • The ladies above covered it, but I'm sending you all the positive vibes  <3
