There are some women on in the general community (not this board specifically) that are just nasty for the sake of being nasty to drivebys. I get that they are annoying. I get that you don't want to deal with it again. I get that it's rude of them. I don't get being nasty right away. I try to be nice in the beginning. I will answer their question and point them to the pinned posts because they were probably just ignorant of our etiquette. I only snark if they come back and are rude, snarky, or nasty to me. (Like our fun little post earlier this week) I just feel like yes, snark is sometimes necessary and that doesn't make us terrible people or bullies or whatever else we're called but kindness is also necessary and is better as a first impression for the drivebys. If you're nasty right away then sometimes those names we're called are warranted and true.
I have had it up to my eyeballs with pseudoscience nonsense and I'm going to throat punch the next person who demonstrates a complete lack of basic scientific literacy. WHYYYYYY did I join a due date group on Facebook? Whyyyyyy????

I hate when people use the words baking or cooking in reference to being pregnant. As in, "Let that LO bake a little longer!" My baby is not a roast that you will consume when it's at the right temperature.

Chewing with your mouth open is annoying and a bit disgusting. I don't want to hear it and I certainly don't want to see it. I see so many adults doing this and it makes me wonder where their manners went...if they ever had any to begin with.
I'm starting to be that bitch who flips out on people for not practicing proper car seat safety. My neice's infant seat straps were so loose today I could put four fingers under the straps, sideways. I'm over my parents trying to tell me that I need to go ahead and turn J's car seat around. I'm over them telling me his straps are too tight. They're not. My car seat is installed properly and I'm following the rules. This is not an option. What is wrong with people?

OMG I am in the same boat! MIL won't tighten the straps on the car seat in her car for DD and it absolutely drives me nuts! She also doesn't take her coat off before strapping her in either in the winter. If she's in an accident, she'd rather DD be warm. Um, what? I'd rather her be SAFE!!! To this day, it's still an argument and she still won't fix it.
@ivyvines6 One of my good friends who claims to be a helicopter mom, yet allowed her 6 year old son to sit in the front seat of her car, always side eyes me for still having my 3 year olds rear facing. It's no skin off your teeth, so keep your unasked-for opinion to yourself, please.

That's when you stop letting MIL drive with you DD in the car. You're the parent. I've told my older family members this. My kid, my decision and it's not up for debate. You do what I ask you don't care for my child.

In surprised you still let her take your DD! I would be like do it right or not at all.
Yep I make people prove to me they know and practice car seat safety when they drive with my daughter. Which is no one except my parents and best friend. I'm laid back about literally everything else but after a horrible wreck a few years ago, I'm a psycho about car safety.
On the note of car seat safety, I read an article the other day I found interesting. For forward facing seats, the weight limit for using the LATCH system includes the weight of the seat. So if your LO plus the seat weight surpasses the weight limit, you need to use the regular seat belt and not the LATCH system. https://www.yahoo.com/lifestyle/1-car-seat-rule-even-180503520.html

@ivyvines6 I flipped on MIL when she let him ride forward facing before he was supposed to. Add it to the ever-growing list of reasons she won't be watching this baby once it comes.
@sparkymcgeee@heelsidehero@sandbar517 If I want to teach dance in the evenings, I rely on MIL to pick up DD from daycare twice a week. I love my MIL and couldn't ask for a better one, but this makes my blood boil that she won't listen to me on DD's safety. I always get the "my kids turned out fine without all this extra stuff" speech every time I bring it up. Hard-headedness runs in the family and after being married to DH for 8 years, I've learned to just accept it. Once it starts cooling off, I'll be bringing it back up again the importance of DD's safety. If MIL does ever get in so much as a bumper thumper and DD's in the car with her, the mama bear claws are coming out and I won't be so lenient. When DD was still itty bitty, I had issues with not wanting to play "pass the baby" and feeling pressured to give her cereal at 3 months. I even got the side eye when I told them I didn't want to use the same coming home outfit that was used for my nieces 15 years prior. DH's family has traditions that I didn't grow up with, most of them being the opposite of what doctors recommend now, and it's hard to have my voice heard and accepted at times. This city girl still has a hard time adjusting to rural, back-woods country life.
JenniatONU me too. Love reality shows that involve competing. I always wanted to be on Survivor. @sandbar517@sparklingdiamond The worst. Gives me the creeps....and bun in the oven.
I only respond to people in my PGAL and Ticker change thread to reply to at least one other person (even if it's not me.)
@zizzabell523 I don't say this to scare you but you might have have a chance to not be so lenient if you let things like car seat safety slide. I totaled my Tahoe within a few streets of my house. Accidents like that happen close to hope a lot. Our guard is down when we're comfortable in our area.
I actually texted a crash test video to my parents to show them why I still read face my older toddlers. I kept DD1 rear facing till she was 4 and that was unusual even a few years ago. Anyway, crash test videos always work. They are horrifying.
@zizzabell523 I don't want to keep beating a dead horse, but waiting for a fender bender to talk to your MIL about her safely taking your child around kind of scares me. There is a viral post going around facebook about a woman who was hit very close to her home and the only reason her kids are ok is because of their car seats. That fender bender may be way worse.
Buttercream icing is disgusting. Whipped cream frosting all the way.
I live for this thread. But, I am coming up with a blank this week. But ohhhhh do I ever agree with all of this carseat discussion. I am a FTM and I already know I'm gonna bug the shit out of all of my family members by being a stickler for safety. But, it is so necessary!
This car seat stuff is so important but I finally had to eat my foot.... I wanted to rear face my 2 year old until college but she won.. she was so difficult to get in her car seat she would arch her back and push her feet against the back seat and throw such a tantrum I thought people would call DCF on me but it was imppossible to get her straps tight enough. She would be able to slide down the chest clip and push her arms through the straps and would turn around and just about face us to say hi when we were driving. It was terrifying. I called the manufacturers eveything and there was nothing I could do.
I decided it was safer to forward face her and have her strapped in correctly then to rear face her and not know if she was strapped in or not
@zizzabell523 do you know any cops? or someone who is married to/related to a cop? You could always request a pull over to scare her into getting her act together if she thinks she'll be ticketed/fined (since the safety portion isnt doing it)

For the most part I agree with you! I hate it when a good cake is just smothered in frosting, especially since I hate most kinds with few exceptions. I love some good royal icing on my sugar cookies, but frosting.... On anything.... Not so much.
