I've seen a few cuties in the Announcements & HDBD boards, but for the rest of us with shy furry friends (or furbabies who couldn't care less about our bumps, like mine), now's your chance to show them off!
Give us photos, names, ages, cute stories, quirky behaviors... whatever you feel comfortable sharing.
I'm sorry the images are so huge. The first one is before we even took them in, the male who has chosen me as his person climbed into my vehicle with me one morning on the way to work. What stray does that?! I knew at that point we would be taking them in. We'd sit, DH and I, on the front stoop and they would come running over to us. We set out food but they wanted attention and love way more than they were interested in the kibble. We just looked at each other and knew.
Shadow the bigger male sleeping in my clean laundry.
And both Shadow and Eve (we took them in on All Hallow's Eve) "helping" DH put together the crib (trying to eat Styrofoam and batting around packing material).
This is Riley (1yr F) and Jax (6yrs M). At first, Jax wasn't into Riley because this girl is seriously crazy and he is so chill. But now I can't get them to stop running around the house together. I just try to ignore it in preparation for motherhood haha
These are my sweet 4-year-old cats, Ro (black, the brother) & 13 (long-haired tabby, the sister). DH & I adopted them just before Halloween when they were about 6 weeks old. We both grew up with cats but neither had had a male cat before and had no idea what a needy little love-bug he would be. They both have amazing personalities and crack us up every single day. And they have absolutely no clue that there's a baby on the way and that life is about to get reeeal noisy and messy and unpredictable...
Top is Flora who will be six in November, bottom is Tully who will be four in October. We got Flora four years ago and Tully three and a half years ago. They both have their own physical quirk--Flora you can see has one ear up and one down, and Tully has a little stub tail that you can't see in the picture.
This is our 5yr old rescue, Ragabash: She's 65lbs of muscle, and the best snuggler in the family. When she's not enforcing family couch-snuggle time, or obliterating her new favorite toy, she's diligently keeping watch on the neighborhood. Rags likes long walks, anything coated in peanut butter, destroying softies, and bread in any form.
These are my little loves. Bailey is the yorkie mix who I got when I was a sophomore in college and is inseparable with me when I'm home. Guinness is the shih tzu/Maltese mix who is a crotchety old man and hates strangers. Penny is our golden doodle who just turned a year old and is full of energy and loves to cuddle. They all really love toys, treats, and sleeping.
This is my little bunny love, Emma. She is litter trained and free to roam. She loves giving kisses and getting head rubs. I stole.. I mean, saved her... from my rambunctious twin niece and nephew. (They've since gotten a dog which is a much better fit for them.) I am obsessed with her and she knows it!
Top left is Gizmo she is 5. The tabby next to her is Yuri one of the babies and he is almost 5 months old. His sister Luna is the same age and then next to her is Mama Bear aka Silver. She is mom to Yuri and Luna. Unsure of her age since she was a stray from a coworker. She looks about 1/1.5 years old.
Heres my pup, Marley looking all guilty of something lol She is a rescue pitt mix and is an absolute sweetheart. She's approximately 7 1/2 and is my sons best friend.
Here are my two cats, Baxter and Charlotte, and my dog, Henry. Some days it feels like animal kingdom around my house, but I love my little furry buddies!
This is Nibbles. She's my little dumpster kitty. I rescued her from under a dumpster at my work. The next day we found the rest of the litter and found a rescue to take them.
These are my sugar gliders Taco and "the baby". She never got an official name, so the baby stuck.
This is Bojangles and Sampson. I was supposed to go pick up one black kitten because I promised my ex a black cat when we bought a house. Well they said these two were always together and were the biggest and smallest of the litter. How could I only come home with one?!
And finally we come to my baby Kip. My brothers Great Dane had 17 puppies and my mom wouldn't let me have one. They called him "the ugly puppy" and she surprised me with him a few weeks later!

This is Molly. She is four years old and still has the energy of a puppy. I was nervous about how she’d be with our daughter but she’s been great with her and our daughter just adores her!
Here is our dog, Lucy. We just adopted her in July. She was about a year old then:
This is our cat, Lance. He's a Manx. We've had him since 2014 when he was just a baby cat. I'm not really a cat person, but he is the sweetest. He loves the carseat and the stroller.
Both of them are so good with DD. Hopefully they adjust well to having 2 around!

These are my babies/monsters! The left is Willow and she is 2 now, and on the right is Orlando who is now 9. Willow came from a home that was just not ready for another animal. At the same time I was actually actively looking for a friend for Orlando. I instantly said yes and brought her home. She is so spunky and keeps us entertained, her fur brother not so much always!
My buddy Orlando has had a little harder time. He adopted me when he was about 5 years old. He was originally in an outdoor shelter surrounded by other dogs. Being a pit-bull mix he was towards the top of the list to be put down. During his time there he was also left out in the rain and had been beat up by other dogs (to this day he hates any form of precipitation or wet grass). He still has little "chips" out of his ears from the other dogs. A local no-kill shelter here saved him and brought him locally, where he then found me! He has been the best boy I've ever had and I spoil him rotten every day, because he deserves it! (Don't worry Willow is super spoiled too!).
I don't think either of these two have any idea what is about to come when the baby arrives!!
ahhh! i love this thread so much! look at all these handsomes! i'm that crazy person that has to stoop down to pet and talk nonsense to every dog i pass on the street. let me tell you, that is becoming more difficult, and it is sad
here's my girl, zephyr, she's a full JRT, just turned 8. my son snapped this pic himself when he was barely two, out of pure luck using a very expensive camera (my uncle is brave, to let him touch it...yikes...)
we used to have a min pin we rescued in 2011. we didn't know his age and he was in very poor health when we got him, but he passed away very unexpectedly in his sleep right after i had my son in 2014. we thought he was only 7 or 8 at the time but he had a really tough first 4-5 years and it shortened his life a lot. he was so happy with us and we like to focus on his last three years instead of his earlier trials.
prior to this pup we had another JRT, his name was sparky.

Our three goats Bea, Gracie, and Cupcake. B & G are 5-year-old Nubian twins and came to us for free when a friend-of-a-friend moved to a city. We bought Cupcake for $125 last year; she's also about 5 & is a lamancha/alpine mix. They are pets (no breeding or milking) and they keep the poison ivy under control.
our dog Vin. 5-year-old shelter special. She's a sweetie, but can be jealous of my attention, so we think the baby may cause her a bit of upset.
We have two barn cats from the humane society's feral cat program. They've been here for 1.5 years and are quite social now. We can pet them, but not pick them up. Chelsea (tabby) and Manny (black).
And 24 chickens! We got them for the eggs, but I love their personalities (which are quite distinct!) Some of them have names. The yellow one is my favorite. Her name is Rogue & she's a total bad ass. She comes when called and will hop into my lap for snuggles.
@Amber_Waves OMG (as in, oh my goats!). How cool that you guys have goats and chickens. All of your animals are gorgeous. My mom had chickens for awhile, and since she'd gotten them for eggs we named them all after egg dishes: Custard, quiche, etc. Then she got this particularly fiesty one that ate all of her blueberries and broke the plants and was gifted a new nickname: coq a vin.
I'm loving seeing everyone's fur (and feather) babies! Our black lab is named Leeloo, the black long haired cat is Sookie, the orange and white cat is Poly, and the bunny is Holly.
@ktcakes87 Yes! We're big fans of that movie! Her full name is actually Leeloo Dallas Multipass Susie Phillips (the Susie part was added because I'd always dreamed of having a black lab named Susie when I was a kid lol).
This is Leia, our 9-month-old shepherd mix. She's decided she's responsible for protecting me and follows me everywhere. Other hobbies include collecting and chewing sticks on the deck (she has an impressive pile) and herding the neighbor kids.
@rebeckyjoy Our dog also loves to chew sticks and almost anything outside--she munches on acorns, little pieces of branches, etc. I have never had a dog that did this to the extent she does!

Roxy (tan) was abaondoned tied to a post outside our house in below freezing weather. She is an absolute love bug who snuggles and plays with everyone
Natasha (black) was rescued from the local high kill shelter on a free adoption day. She normally likes her space and isn’t super dog friendly but likes Roxy and will tolerate our foster animals. Currently has a torn ACL that may need surgery She is my shadow and follows me everywhere.
Meet Guinness. My friend rescued him and his two brothers as feral kittens. He is the sweetest most chill cat I have ever met. He loves to play with Roxy.
And meet Max. Our current foster dog. (Wanna adopt him?!?) He is our boomerang foster dog. To sum it up we found him as a stray... he got adopted. One year later they returned him. I don’t know what they did but he was alll kinda of screwed up. We worked with him for months and he is wonderful... at our house. He sabatoges every potential adoption. We have had him back for a year now. Seems to be our forever foster haha. He is the best snuggler of the bunch.
Love this thread! This is Izzy, a beagle/dachshund mix, 5 years old. DH rescued her when she was 3 months. She is super sweet and cuddly but takes forever to warm up to new people. Once you're in though, she'll want to be your best friend. We take her for "big girl walks" (aka - hikes) on the weekend which she loves. During the work week she sits on top of our living room couch and looks out the window. It's a tough 9-5 but someone's gotta do it.

Meet Gus. He's a 5 year old maltipoo. He's always been more on the timid side and we were SO worried about him with DD but surprisingly he is absolutely wonderful with her. Even though she is wild and often what I consider a little rough with him. Hopefully baby #2 will be more on the gentle side.
@balletnerd I love your rescues' stories! I will only ever adopt my babies as soon many need love! All the rescues I have had are the sweetest babies ever!! Growing up we too fostered, so I know exactly where you are coming from. Sounds like Mr. Max already has his home
This is my big baby Hank. He's 2 years old and the first dog I raised from a puppy. A few years ago we had my husbands boxer he brought into our relationship was hit by a car and didn't make it we've always been dog people so we adopted a little dachshund 6 months later who became my little buddy but my husband still missed having a big dog. I came home from work one night and this tiny puppy (Hank) was in my living room. My husband found him from some lady on FB and decided to give him a home. I was beyond pissed bc I knew I would take the responsibility since my DH worked nights and let's just say DH was in the dog house! Anyway we lost our dachshund to a grand mal seizure which I was devastated and had I not had Hank I know it would have made it that much worse so he for sure has turned out to be a huge blessing to our family...Also, my family dog that we adopted as my Christmas present as teen once we finally moved into a house we could have a dog again had passed 2 years ago as well. His name was Riley and he was beyond the best friend ever. He showed me unconditional love in the purest form at such an important time in my life. My mom actually named me after her childhood dog Jenni and now that we're having a baby I've decided to name her Riley. It's a pretty silly notion but means a lot in our family.
@kersey0208 I just teared up at work because of the naming thing, and thinking about losing pets. It's so hard to lose a pet. (Omg, typing this is making me tear up even more! I have to stop!)
This is Mr. Snow. He is a purebred himalayan rabbit and just turned a year old this month. I named him Snow because we brought him home the day a big snow storm came in. My kids added the Mr. and it stuck. I love him. He's litter trained and has a very funny personality. He is also a therapy pet, i take him to my group meetings for women who have been sexually assaulted, and they cuddle him during discussions.
