You ladies are lovely. Keep up the snark, especially when people are trying to use "logic" (code: not logic, actually emotion and misinformation) to beat out science.
Too many people in this discussion to tag, but if I find out I'm having a girl, I might be down for a small sprinkle just for a few clothes. If we're having another boy, I still have all of DS's stuff, so depending on who asked I might say ok, but most likely I'll say it's not necessary because even if it's not about the gifts, people still bring gifts and we have enough junk.
@JanaBonfield Food rules are for untrustworthy food sources, as far as I'm concerned. And if you don't trust your food, why are you eating it?
@sandbar517 You aren't supposed to wash most of your clothes after every use, just underwear and most of the time knit shirts that come in direct contact with your armpits. But even then, if you put on deodorant and they aren't wrinkled, you can get away with a second wear, according to some official looking chart that I can't find now

My FFFC: Im a body-positive person in general but being pregnant again has me feeling some type of way. I gained a lot of weight a short period of time in adulthood, and last pregnancy no one could even tell I was pregnant until I was almost 9 months. I just looked like I was getting fatter. No baby bump, no pop. I'm fat, but had very strong abdominal muscles, so I think that may have had something to do with it. So it's shallow because it REALLY doesn't matter, but I'm really hoping that I get that second-time pop I hear about from btdt moms, because I'd love to actually look pregnant this time, and have people know from looking at me that I'm pregnant.
@christycalifornia Preach, sister. I'm fat so pregnancy just makes me look fatter. I ended up not gaining any weight with my daughter so basically my fat rolls just evened out sorta? I despised never getting to experience the round baby belly even though I was just as miserably pregnant as a typically pregnant lady. It's a double edged sword to want to look pregnant this time though - I don't want to be any bigger than I was before because I will be soooooo miserable but I want to look like I'm expecting. I'm probably fucked and destined to just be fat.
I don't "get" Star Wars. My husband is a huge fan and I'm still jnot entertained regardless of how many times he tries to explain why it is so amazing.
@sharkmama39 a shower is meant to be gift grabby. I'm not saying people who have showers are bad people, I'm actually saying I don't think a second shower should be side eyed for being gift grabby when all showers are meant to give gifts. It's literally "shower you with gifts."
ETA: I probably will have a shower as it's pretty customary in my region for that to happen. I was long winded in saying I think second showers are fine. Sorry for any confusion.
I'm fine with showers/ second showers. The way I see it is it's just a nice excuse to get everyone together as we only see the whole family at like Christmas and weddings. If you don't wanna give a gift then don't give one, if they're pissed you didn't give a gift that says more about them than it does about you!
@thedawkterswife oh, how I feel you! With DD I actually had to work hard not to lose weight. I lost 15 lbs my first trimester (I think cutting out all the empty booze calories had something to do with it... ) and only ended up gaining 14, which was all her and the water. I was happy for that, because pre-preg jeans came back quickly, but the double edged sword is real. I never stopped looking lumpy. Solidarity.
