    Any appointments coming up?
I had one on Monday. My next one is 10/11 and I should be getting my referral for a NT scan soon. We saw baby, who was actually measuring one day ahead of my EDD based on my O date, and got to hear a heartbeat.

    Questions?
    nothing right now.

    How are you doing?
I feel better now that I went to the doctor and heard the heartbeat, but I know I will still panic every time I get an ultrasound and worry that something is wrong.

GTKY: what is your favorite guilty pleasure (food item, TV show, etc.)?
TV- the Bachelor franchise. I just can't help myself. For food, non-pregnant me loved McDonald's cheeseburgers.

    @CraftyG
I think I am overall more calm about this pregnancy. TW- I was more of a stress case with DS because we conceived him immediately after our loss and I wasn't expecting to get pregnant so soon and I had no idea how far along I was initially because I never had a period. End TW

Next is Oct 17th for the NT scan. I will be able to breathe after that one.

    Questions?
    None this week.

    How are you doing?
This stupid subchronic hematoma is driving me mad with worry.

GTKY: what is your favorite guilty pleasure (food item, TV show, etc.)?
I recently ate almost all the chocolate and marshmallows we had in the pantry for the girls to make s'mores with... oops.

    Any appointments coming up?
Intake on Monday and then US on Tuesday. Please get here soon.

    Questions?
    Nope

    How are you doing?
Not great. I had a dream that I miscarried and then I had to have a job interview with one of the managers at work. I think the worst part was that I wasn't devastated in the dream. It was more like resignation. Like I resigned myself to that pain and existence. Which just really really sucks. I don't want that to become my norm.

GTKY: what is your favorite guilty pleasure (food item, TV show, etc.)?
I'm a candy fiend and I love watching tv. All the tv.

I have an u/s with the RE still scheduled for the 2nd.  I was going to cancel since I went ahead and did my first OB appt this week, but now I think I may keep it since I found out my office doesn't do the NT scan so I won't get that 12 week u/s.

    Questions?
Have any of you had to go to the MFM for a consultation on genetic testing?  My stepson has spina bifida so they want us to go for a consult.  But I have already had a child with DH and he is completely fine and all they did then was the NT scan.  They didn't make me go to the MFM.

    How are you doing?
Ok, just super tired.  And feeling kinda meh about everything right now.

GTKY: what is your favorite guilty pleasure (food item, TV show, etc.)?
I love watching America's Next Top Model.  I don't know why I like that show so much.

How far along are you? 8 weeks today

    Any appointments coming up?
I'm diabetic so I have an ultrasound and appointment with the MFMs on the 26th and then I told my OB I wanted to come back at 10 weeks as that is my furthest loss. I'll see them back Oct 6th!

    Questions?
anyone do the Maternit21 test? I'm considering it as long as insurance approves.

    How are you doing?
Really positive which makes me second guess myself even more? Pgal brain is crazy.

GTKY: what is your favorite guilty pleasure (food item, TV show, etc.)?
fries. I just want to eat tons of fries. McDonald's specifically.
  • @cups4 I'm going to call my insurance to make sure they cover it. And if they don't, finding out how much it will cost. We will most definitely take that test (it's already scheduled for my 12 week appointment). My DD2 has developmental delays, and although that obviously cannot be diagnosed through this test, I know that I need to be absolutely prepared if this baby will need anything more than love, diapers, and milk. I wish I would have known all the struggles and help my daughter and I went through and needed before, instead of it being sprung on me. Again, she has nothing that is chromosomal and purely a fluke thing, but it made me extra strong in my belief that being prepared is always best.

  • @rachelg777  Yes, they did the NT scan there with my last pregnancy.  And they were going to have me do the Verifi test at their office this time, but when I brought up the spina bifida thing again they decided to refer me out.
  • My kids are off school so I'm at the point of the week where I don't know what day it is...
    and then it hit me...

7 years ago today was my 12 week scan where we found out DD1's twin was no longer living.
I'll be under my covers if anyone needs me.

  • @yesthisiskim0401 I love marshmallows so much!  Big hugs to you today.  Take care of yourself.   <3
@sparkymcgeee I am so sorry about your dream.  That can be so unsettling!
@sparklingdiamond We went to a perinatologist for our consult with genetic testing.  BIL is a CF carrier and DH has a congenital heart defect.  It was mostly the NT scan and the anatomy scan, along with the blood tests for items we were at risk for.  If the anatomy scan had come back with any worries about DS's heart, we would have been referred for another test related to that and adjusted where we would have delivered based on needed a pediatric cardiologist.  Luckily, everything was fine!
    @rachelg777 yay appt twins!
@cups4 I need to check what options we were given for insurances.  I am doing any and all tests offered.
  • Having weird cramps that feel like inflammation.

My guilty pleasure is my morning coffee.  I know it's not supposed to be bad to have only one cup, but it still feels wrong!

  • 1. 5w1d

    2. Had an ultrasound today to check placement. Everything went so well and so much better than it ever did with my loss. It was such a relief. I still get anxious when I'm on that table though waiting to see my baby.

I'm on vacation the next 2 weeks so I won't have another appt with my RE until 8w on 10/11. I have my phone evap for my OB on 10/2 but that is just a colossal waste of time. I have to make my OB appt as soon as I can even before I get released by my RE. Not ideal but pre-auth is messing my timeline up badly.

    3. No questions yet. Just trying to make things line up.

    4. I feel like garbage reheated twice. But I take that as a good sign.

    5. Ummm, rough sex? *tee hee*

I plan on getting the Maternit21 or Harmony. I'm old so my insurance should cover it. I'm pretty excited about it. It was still so new when I had DD.

  • How far along are you?
    ~4 weeks, 4 days

    Any appointments coming up?
Nothing is even scheduled yet, which is driving me crazy. My hospital system went to a centralized scheduling call center, so if I call my OB's office, I don't even get to talk to anyone there. With my loss (and DS) my 1st appointment wasn't even scheduled until 10 weeks. My doctor told me when I got pregnant again to send her a message through the online portal and she would get something set up sooner. I sent a message on Friday and her nurse replied that she would pass the message on to get something set up. I still hadn't heard back today, so I went to send another message and the system said she was OOO through Sunday.

    Questions?
Is anyone taking baby aspirin? After my loss, my OB said that was something I could do for a next pregnancy, but I haven't yet. I'm scared to take any medication during pregnancy and don't think I have any blood clotting issues, which is what it is supposed to help. I read some research on it and it seemed to be inconclusive.

    How are you doing?
I am struggling mentally today. Not feeling symptoms, which is making me nervous. I just want to fast forward a few weeks.

GTKY: what is your favorite guilty pleasure (food item, TV show, etc.)?
    The Bachelor franchise and DWTS.
  • @CraftyG So with you on the non satisfying poos.
@mileswithmyles I really hat eh anticipation of the ultrasound and then I can't even concentrate when I am in there and it is a good ultrasound and end up not being able to remember anything.  But we've only had one good US so far. Hoping our 10 week US is great.
@yesthisiskim0401 I'm probably thinking way far ahead about NT scans...but I've read that if you re over 35 they do a cell test.  I am wondering if I have to bring it up with my doctor or if she brings it up to me?  I am a ftm and this is all very overwhelming.  We aren't announcing until after that NT scan anyhow.
@sparkymcgeee give me all the watermelon sour patch kids.
@rachelg777 I have milestones too.  Helps get through the weeks!
@cups4 I have heard about that test and don't know whether I bring it up at my 10 week US or the doctor brings it up to me.  I wonder if you have to request it?  It is on my "ask list"
@thedawkterswife So happy to hear about the great scan. Keep em coming.
@GeekBeagle My OB mentioned baby aspirin after my first loss and then said not to take it.  I was confused.

    How far along are you?
    8 weeks 1 day

    Any appointments coming up?
    October 2nd

    Questions?
I am wondering about this preauthorization from insurance for the genetic testing and wonder why I need preauthorization if I am AMA. We will do it anyhow as we have an HSA and when we reach 4,000$ everything is free after that.  And no doubt we will reach that with the birth.

    How are you doing?
I'm okay. I am constantly worried that something will go wrong. My therapist gives me all of this positive visualizations and relaxation techniques but they don't always work. I am going to try acupuncture next week. I am hoping that helps relax me a bit. I am fine all day at work until I get a little TMI wet feeling down there and assume it's blood.  I have been spotting since my BFP so that doesn't help things at all but I am actually way to used to that now.

GTKY: what is your favorite guilty pleasure (food item, TV show, etc.)?
Love shitty reality tv competitions like survivor and big brother.  I'm lame. And I love salt and pepper popcorn.
  • @cups4 I did MaterniT21 in my first pregnancy after a quad screen came back as 1 in 12 for Down Syndrome. The test was a big relief to us. I wanted to skip the quad and just do MaterniT21 in my second pregnancy, but my insurance would only cover it if I came back with an elevated risk on the quad screen. Luckily the quad screen came back okay.

@GeekBeagle I took baby aspirin in my second pregnancy to prevent pre-ecclampsia. I delivered at 27 weeks with my first and around 37 with my second. Neither baby or myself had any adverse reactions to the medicine, and I am confidently taking it during this pregnancy, too. It made a world of difference for me.

    How far along are you?

    5 and 5.

    Any appointments coming up?
I have a dating and viability scan and my first nurse visit a week from tomorrow. I see my OB in early November. My scan is with the MFM doc who was part of the care team that saved my daughter and I during our battle with pre-e, and we saw him during my second pregnancy, too. I am really looking forward to saying hello and having him be a part of this journey as well. He's a sort of curmudgeonly old man and I just think he's fantastic and hilarious.

    Questions?
    Not today.

    How are you doing?
My nausea has turned up a couple of notches over the past few days, which is unpleasant, but reassuring. It's helping me to turn down the worrying a bit.

GTKY: what is your favorite guilty pleasure (food item, TV show, etc.)?
Taco Bell. ALLLLLLLLLLL the Taco Bell.

  • @GeekBeagle I took baby aspirin every day during my successful pregnancy, but I had also begun taking it to aid conception.  This was the result of advice from other cysters, not a doctor - and these women told me that if you haven't already been taking it prior to pregnancy, not to start during pregnancy without your doctor's approval.  I did have a very healthy pregnancy, so if your OB recommends it contemporaneously, I think you should do it!

  • @justsuzie Geez OB, make up your mind, lol!
@firefliesandfjords and @Shima42 Thanks! Good to hear that it has been helpful for some. I guess I'll follow up with my OB about it.
  • @GeekBeagle I am on baby aspirin because I have an MTHFR mutation.  I am not a fan of medications in pregnancy in general, but feel any very small risk is well worth the potential benefit.

GTKY: what is your favorite guilty pleasure (food item, TV show, etc.)?

    5 weeks 5 days

I have an appointment scheduled with a midwife practice a week from today - it's basically just a meet and greet/patient history appointment though. I'm excited to get my other appointments (RE: first ultrasound) set up!

    No questions!

I've been okay. Nauseated AF today. Nothing sounds good which is tragic. Also my breasts are crazy sore. I'm also experiencing a horrible exhausted/insomniac paradox right now. Otherwise I'm great though!

Guilty pleasures: Sushi :'( (which I'm obviously avoiding now. It's low key tragic) Grilled Cheese sandwiches, Outlander.

  • @CraftyG,  I have moments where I am super calm and collected and others where I'm a total nut. Luckily, the calm moments heavily outweigh the nut moments, for now.
@yesthisiskim0401, schs are super scary and dreadful. I had 2 different ones my first tri with our last pregnancy. The only silver lining is you get monitored more closely and get more u/s to see lo.
And I hope you are doing better now that the anniversary has passed for you. Hugs to you.
@geekbeagle, I am on baby aspirin and have been since I got dx with MTHFR in 2014. I took it throughout my twin pregnancy and continue to take it to this day.
@justsuzie, I did some acupuncture our first round of ivf and it was pretty relaxing. I fell asleep on the table once or twice.
And I also get the weird wet feeling and swear it's blood until I go check. It's hard to explain to others the way it feels and triggers your mind.
@firefliesandfjords, is it a requirement for mfm docs to be old, grumpy, funny men?  The one we had for our twins was the same way! And he was super to the point which I also loved. Hope your appointment went well.

Afm, I don't know how I read through this thread a couple of days ago and then didn't respond at all. I'm blaming it on my 3 am insomnia bumping.

How far along- TBD. Wonky cycle, wasn't tracking, best guess is 6ish weeks.
Appts coming up- we have our u/s scheduled for Thursday of this week, but that may be getting bumped up.
Questions- am I being crazy? DS woke up at 330 for who knows why. I went and rocked him a bit and got him to fall asleep twice, but couldn't get him to do it in his bed. So at 4, I brought him to our bed and I started to get cramps. They were mild at first and then got severe enough to cause me to double over and DH to panic. He wants to call the RE in the morning and try to push up the u/s to today. I don't know what to think. It's 5:30 now and they've calmed down a bit, but for awhile I was convinced I'd stand up and have blood everywhere. Now they're about a 2 out of 10 and earlier they got to be like a 7. Maybe I just did too much during the day? Maybe it's just loss brain and panicking making it worse?
How are you doing? - I was doing alright until these early morning shenanigans. I had been pretty confident this week. Even mentioned name ideas to my mom.
Guilty pleasure - Definitely trash tv. I love "reality" shows, but not the Bachelor. I also love food and my big comfy bed.

  • @suchaglencoco I don't think it would hurt to call the RE and tell them about the cramps and see what they think?
  • Ugh I had my first bad pregnancy dream.

I accidentally fell asleep before getting ready for bed. Lights on, contacts in, etc. (I unfortunately do this all the time and DH falls asleep downstairs.) Anyway, I woke up around 3:15 a.m. and got ready then went back to bed. I was having some cramps and was having a hard time falling back asleep because my mind was racing. (TBH, I think the cramping was gas.) When I did fall back asleep I had a dream that I had another MC. I was even messaging my OB in our online portal about it (I had actually been messaging her before I fell asleep the first time). It was so real to me that I woke up in a panic and had to make sure that I wasn't bleeding. I am hoping this is the only time it happens because it really shook me.
  • @GeekBeagle I had HORRIBLE gas cramps around 5.5-6 weeks.  They were so bad I convinced myself something was wrong. SOrry about the dream.  At least your awake rational mind can kick your dreamtime mind's ass back out of the picture.
  • @rachelg777, DH called the RE this morning because he was panicking a bit still. By the time the nurse called me back, the cramps had intensified again. The nurse agreed I should come in a couple of days early so we're going in this afternoon. DH came home from work to watch the kids so I can rest with the cramps again.
We're preparing ourselves for the worst and praying for the best.

@GeekBeagle, that sounds like an awful dream, but I am glad it's just a dream!
  • @suchaglencoco I'm glad they are fitting you in. Hopefully LO is just growing. I'll be thinking about you and keep us updated!
  • @GeekBeagle I took it with DS and am now.  It was supposed to help me with implantation according to MFMs.
  • @suchaglencoco Thinking good thoughts for you, please keep us updated!!

    Me, 35 Hubs, 32
    Married June 2012
BFP June 2013- blighted ovum, D&C Aug 2013
BFP Oct 2013- twins!  A&H born May 2014
    BFP Aug 2017- EDD 5/8/17

  • If the RE didn't have the probe in me, I'd have been jumping like Rachel and Phoebe! Instead I cried and made her check for a twin, haha. I don't think I could take twins again as much as I thought I could before our bfp.
No cause for concerns were seen, so cramps are being chalked up to growing baby and I was told to relax.
  • Hey ladies.
    I’m 6w1d
    first appointment is next Thursday.
In super nauseated. No appitite tired as shit.

  • @scoot44 glad you have some pretty strong symptoms

    Any appointments coming up?
I have an US next week and I can’t wait!!

    Questions?
    nothing yet

    How are you doing?
I’m ok. Doing the crazy symptom dance in my head. I was feeling sick everyday and now that has settled. I had my HCG checked early last week and it was great (1101). But now the worry has creeped in again. My last loss was right at 6w. Ugh.

GTKY: what is your favorite guilty pleasure (food item, TV show, etc.)?
Teen Mom and Total Bellas. Can’t help it - addicted to them both!

    P.S. -
just knowing that this thread is here helps so much. I figure if I get really scared I can always post. Thank you ladies!!
  • Having a stressful week but I know we're only 5 weeks in and have a long way to go.  Lots of pulling and tugging feelings inside so hopefully that's just things moving around.  First US in 3 weeks.
