Rant/Rave: Two raves: 1) I had a dream that my period started...woke up feeling really sad but remembered it wasn't true! 2) I didn't start my period yesterday which means that my LP was not 9 days again like it was last cycle. Woo hoo!
GTKY: What is one thing you’re glad you tried but would never do again? I'm going to go with the Tower of Terror ride at Disney World. I'm glad I tried it, but I do not like the feeling of dropping from any sort of height. It makes me queasy and light headed and I walked around in a daze for a while afterward. I don't even like watching DH fall from heights in his video games...it makes my stomach lurch! (PS - don't mind me, I'm feeling gif-y today!)
Timing - also see below - but we also HIO Saturday and Monday morning, just in case
Testing - officially my RE will test 6th October (16DPO) but I will test out my trigger shot this week, and if AF hasn't already arrived I guess I will cave 2/3 Oct as those are public holidays
Typical LP - 14-16 days but this could be different after the IVF meds
Rant/Rave - all raves today! So today we got through our first IVF cycle! And we have one egg currently having a wild party in a dish with lots of DHs spermies! For most people only one egg would be a disaster, but on Friday we thought we would not get any so this feels like a huge victory. Now we have a one day wait to see if fertilization takes place. If it does the resulting embryo will be transferred to my uterus on Friday afternoon. If not then we will have learnt about a so far unsuspected fertilization issue and then know we have to use ICSI next time. So basically we are looking at it as a win-win. Also the meds went well, except a few headaches and dizziness, so we are good to go next time and know which changes to make to the medication to try to get more eggs next time. And the rest of the day is a couch day for me recovering from the anesthesia:-)
GTKY 1. Eating Dourian fruit (it stinks!) 2. Travel and alone and stay with complete strangers in remote places (I'm seriously lucky I didn't meet a serial killer) 3. Ride around a 2* cross country course - how I didn't die falling off over some of those huge fences beats me. If I was a cat I'd have used my nine lives several times over already... 4. Complete the GWO courses to enable you to work offshore on wind turbines - it includes helicopter survival and working at heights - videos in spoiler if you want an idea!

YA'LL! I am over here now FINALLY! CD/DPO: 14/1 Timing:
Typical LP: Shorter than desirable.
Testing: let's be honest..... R/R: headed out of state to see one of my best friends! Shout out to Wisconsin ladies! GTKY: Paris. It was not amazing and magical for me. I suppose my master's,too. I would have regretted not getting it. On the other side, now, I'm like meh, could have done without it. Paté (? Goose liver).
@emmasemm I'm with you on traveling alone and staying in random places with random people! FX so hard for you & your petrie dish with an egg & spermies. Keep us updated, friend!!
Sorry about the BFN @offtoneverland Also, I'm with you on the feeling of falling. I hate it - - even when a car goes down a hill the wrong way, and makes my stomach drop.
@emmasemm FX crossed for you! Is there anything the RE can do to encourage fertilization?
Month/Cycle: 2/2
CD/DPO: 29/11-13?
Timing: ?
Testing: BFN again this morning, but my cycle is normally 28 days, so who knows.
Typical LP Length: 11-13
Rant/Rave: I'm not out, but still getting BFNs. So who knows. No AF symptons either.
CS/Q:
GTKY: What is one thing you’re glad you tried but would never do again? Eating pineapple and scallops. No thanks. Also, ziplining. Did it once. Not again.
@emmasemm wow i'm so excited for you! fx to you. so glads the meds went well because i know that's often an iffy party and now you know. Relax and have a wonderful day! Also that GWO course looks amazing and i could never do it--well done!
@jrm_14 welcome! I feel like i haven't seen you around --but that's probably the whole WTO vs TWW thing. Enjoy WI and your friend. I also agree with you Paris was nice but not awe inspiring.
@marcus7676 You definitely aren't out, but i am sorry for the BFN. oh i loved zip-lining! also were the pineapple and scallops together? or you don't like them individually?
Month/Cycle: 18/14
CD/DPO: 33/13
Timing:-2
Testing: no more
Typical LP Length: 12ish
Rant/Rave: FF took away my testing, my temp was down again this morning and i have cramps, so i became a realist this morning and didn't even waste a test. I'm ready for next cycle because i need to ovulate before 10/10--right now FF is predicting 10/9 for O, so i'm nervous. DH travels 10/10-10/12 and then 10/15-10/25. FX my body ovulates on time.
CS/Q: chart in spoiler
GTKY: What is one thing you’re glad you tried but would never do again? Alaskan cruise--was gorgeous, but don't need to do it again.
@blackhottamales pineapples and scallops are each individually terrible IMO. Trying them together would just be plain awful. I've tried each, no need to do it again! Sorry for the impending AF.
@emmasemm I have my fingers crossed so hard for you and that little egg! Please do keep us updated. @blackhottamales Sorry your temps are trending down. Fx your O timing works out for next cycle! @offtoneverland I absolutely LOVE Tower of Terror! I think they are taking it out at Disneyland (or have already taken it out?) and I'm sad about that. I once got to ride it twice in a row because my friend and I wanted to buy the photo, but it never showed up from our first ride. When we asked, they said someone had done something "un-Disney" in the pic, and let us ride again so we could buy one.
Rant/Rave: Going out for sushi today for lunch with friends! Yay! Work tomorrow
GTKY: What is one thing you’re glad you tried but would never do again? Not actually sure. I've mostly enjoyed the 'things' I've tried/ done. Maybe get married? This one is going so welln so I'm glad I did it - don't want to have to do it again. I think I'll keep him
@jrm_14 congrats on moving over to TWW! And thanks a lot for your good wishes. I have so far resisted calling the clinic's 24 hour helpline to ask in advance lol. I also share a bit the Paris view, I twice had things stolen there and once was sick the whole weekend and didn't leave the apartment...
@marcus7676 thanks - this time we are using "normal" IVF where they "wash" and sort the sperm, wash the egg and let it get comfy in the culture medium in th dish, then they add in millions of the best freshly showered sperm and wait to see what happens! The other commonly used technique is ICSI where they actually inject one selected sperm into an egg, which helps if the sperm are not getting through the outer wall of the egg, or in case the egg is super tough (in very basic non embryologist language!). If we have a problem this time we will consider this - but it is extra expensive and if there is no male factor known it shouldn't be necessary.
@blackhottamales thanks! And actually the injections were really straightforward to do and side effects manageable so if anyone is thinking of doing any medicated cycles in the future then they will do it no problem! The GWO courses were awesome but really pushed me to my limits in terms of overcoming a fear of heights and a fear of being submerged in water. At one point we jumped 5 meters into the water (with full survival suit and climbing gear) - oh and in the dark with a man made storm happening - strong winds and fake torrential rain buffeting you. The instructor did give me a gentle push to send me over the edge hehe! I was really proud to have done it afterwards, and got huge kudos from all the young fit guys we have working offshore all the time. Some of them were on the course with me and instead of the tough rude guys we hear about all the time they were all absolute gentlemen.
@darkstar42 thanks for the visit and good wishes! I did laugh at the "un-Disney" hehe
@mylitta - that was a great way to answer the GTKY!

Hi all, I am back, had our glorious wedding in July and took the summer to relax and settle as a family (I have a 10 y o son so involved some blending!). All good now, and back here!
Month/Cycle: 1/1
CD/DPO: 18/4
Timing: -5, -4, -3, -2, 0, +1
Testing: unknown
Typical LP Length: 28 days
Rant/Rave: Nothing really! Just kind of meandering along right now!
CS/Q:
GTKY: What is one thing you’re glad you tried but would never do again?
I lived in South America for a year as a volunteer, loved it, but would never do it again, it was hard and often times felt like a thankless task!
Wellllll just started red spotting so AF is on her way. Ugh. I know I've only been trying for 4 months, but you guys this TTC thing is SO HARD. How do you not let it consume every portion of your life? I think I really need to make some changes with how I go about this mentally next cycle...any advice? I guess on the positive side, I will get to drink lots and lots of alcohol on our upcoming cruise. To continue with the HIMYM gifs:
Now for you guys (an upside to starting AF is that I get more time to get to know you guys...you all are seriously awesome and I wish I would have joined TTGP sooner):
@emmasemm So happy that your procedure went well! Good luck! FX so hard for you. What did you do on your lazy day lounging around the house afterward? Also, how did Dourian fruit taste? Was it awful?
@jrm_14 So glad to see you in TWW finally (just as I'm about to leave...boo)! I seriously cracked up at your HIMYM gif. Good enough! Hahahaha. Have fun in Wisconsin! I loved Paris, but I went there when I was in 11th grade, so it was prime time for teen romance and an obsession with all things French.
@marcus7676 I hate scallops too! I do like pineapple, but I hate the feeling it leaves in my mouth since it's so acidic. Sorry for the BFN and your abnormally long cycle. Hope you get an answer soon.
@blackhottamales Glad you enjoyed my gif party! Sorry about impending AF. It's super disappointing. Really hope your body cooperates so you can HIO and catch that egg! What about the Alaskan cruise makes you not want to do it again? I would love to go on one!
@darkstar42 Yes, they're redoing the Tower of Terror at Disneyland to theme it like Guardians of the Galaxy. Not sure how it's going to be. It's pretty sad they're getting rid of the classic ride, but they're supposed to be keeping the same concept. That's so funny about the "un-Disney" picture! I wonder how often that happens.
@Mylitta How was your sushi? Love your GTKY...that's a good, unique answer I didn't think of!
@gene_genie Congrats on your wedding! I hope it went perfectly. You have great timing. FX for you!
@blackhottamales Sorry about AF...we'll be CD buddies though! See you in WTO. ETA: you can also drink lots of drinks with me virtually since that's what I plan on doing...
For me...each month i set a new goal towards meeting our TTC goal. the first 12 months were to ovulate (because you know i'm not getting KU'ed without an egg), then reduce stress, increase exercise, decrease alcohol, temp...I picked one thing a month and have tried to build on each month. I think this month will be two items: no soda/increase water intake (already failed because had a soda with lunch but i've been really bad lately so starting on CD 2) and adding CM to my chart. It makes me re-motivated each month that i'm doing something to increase our odds. I won't deny it's hard and some days i just want to cry (and i do) but i'm glad you're here!
**this was worded really poorly, but my brain hurts and i can't concentrate**
@blackhottamales Don't worry about the poor wording. I edit all day long so by the time I get home I'm like eff it I'm gonna write what I want! Thank you for the tips. I really like your idea and will find something to focus on this cycle. Good luck with your no soda/increasing water intake this month. And I'm of the opinion that everyone deserves to splurge on CD1 so don't feel bad about that!
@offtoneverland@blackhottamales. Sorry for CD1 I like the suggestion of changing 1 thing a month. I struggle with temping consistently and then stress over adding 15 other changes.
@emmasemm. P.s. you're brave with the dourian fruit. Did you say when you'll get an update from RE?
LOVE ziplining! Why won't you do it again @thshaw?
@emmasemm@offtoneverland@jrm_14 Thanks guys... I want sure what to write so my default is drier sarcastic type of answers. - ok... that might be hoping a bit far, but yay I'm trying to move out of lurkdom. (Also, sushi was great!)
@emmasemm Best of luck with your procedure! I hope those swimmers and egg make some magic happen! Also, you are brave to have tasted Durian! It smells so foul I don't think I could do it.
Month/Cycle: 3/3
CD/DPO: 28/11
Timing: -4, -1, +1
Testing: Didn't test today after feeling a bit discouraged from two negatives yesterday and day before (even though it was early). My optimism may rise enough to test again tomorrow or just wait to see if AF shows up (she's due on Fri).
Typical LP Length: 12
Rant/Rave: Rant: I have broken out with the most giant zit on my chin. It is seriously like the size of Mt Vesuvius and I don't think it's shrinking any time soon. Really pissed at my body for that one.
CS/Q:
GTKY: What is one thing you’re glad you tried but would never do again? I'm not proud of this one, but I did Ecstasy once when I was 19 and had a great experience, but I made a very conscious decision to never do it again because it was definitely something I didn't want to get into.
*visiting from WTO* @offtoneverland and @blackhottamales I am so sorry for AF's arrival, but I am looking forward to spending time with you lovely ladies in WTO. It seems like that is where everyone is right now! @offtoneverland--I hear you. I think it has become harder each month, but having the mandatory benched month has lifted my spirits a little bit because I relaxed for a month (as I could not do anything). I think @blackhottamales has some good suggestions of making little changes each month. Also, have you every listened to the How to Get Healthy and Pregnant podcast? I've listened to a few episodes and there was a good one with a guest speaker who was a counselor working with couples TTC. One piece of advice she mentioned was to plan things that you can look forward to that are not TTC-related. For example, plan a trip with a friend or sign up to run a race or apply for a new program, etc.
@jrm_14 Woot woot! Glad you made it over to TWW, friend. Have fun with your bestie! Anything fun planned for your visit?
@emmasemm So excited for you! Please keep us posted this week on how the fertilization goes. FX!
So I don't normally post an update on the day before's thread but I'm mobile and can't set up today's thread because...
I AM SO EXCITED!!!
Our one little egg fertilized perfectly and they will do the transfer tomorrow!!!!!!!
So now it just has to keep going for 24 hours and then we will have a chance. We have made an embryo!!!

@augusta108. Sorry for CD1
@offtoneverland. I likes rides like that, but I don't. Ha,,does that make sense? I don't want to do them, but then I enjoy them. Have a good day!
Sorry about the AF @Augusta108
Not again.
@Augusta108 sorry to see you go
@emmasemm wow i'm so excited for you! fx to you. so glads the meds went well because i know that's often an iffy party and now you know.
@emmasemm I have my fingers crossed so hard for you and that little egg! Please do keep us updated.
@blackhottamales Sorry your temps are trending down.
CD/DPO: 26/13
Timing:0
Testing: bfn yesterday, just waiting for af
Typical LP Length: 14-16
Rant/Rave: Going out for sushi today for lunch with friends! Yay! Work tomorrow
GTKY: What is one thing you’re glad you tried but would never do again?
Not actually sure. I've mostly enjoyed the 'things' I've tried/ done.
Maybe get married? This one is going so welln so I'm glad I did it - don't want to have to do it again. I think I'll keep him
I also share a bit the Paris view, I twice had things stolen there and once was sick the whole weekend and didn't leave the apartment...

I lived in South America for a year as a volunteer, loved it, but would never do it again, it was hard and often times felt like a thankless task!

Rant/Rave: Nothing really...just waiting around.
CS/Q:
GTKY: What is one thing you’re glad you tried but would never do again? Ziplining!!! it was amazing, but not something I'd try again.
FX for you!

@emmasemm. P.s. you're brave with the dourian fruit. Did you say when you'll get an update from RE?
@Mylitta. Great GTKY answer
@marcus7676. MH hatttes pineapple, too. I personally would eat it every day!!
@gene_genie. GL! Your timing looks Great. Did you get a chance to intro in the newbie thread?
@thshaw. Girrrrrrl, I LOVE ziplining!
LOVE ziplining! Why won't you do it again @thshaw?
@emmasemm @offtoneverland @jrm_14 Thanks guys... I want sure what to write so my default is drier sarcastic type of answers.
- ok... that might be hoping a bit far, but yay I'm trying to move out of lurkdom.
(Also, sushi was great!)
@Augusta108 , @offtoneverland and @blackhottamales I'm so sorry about AF showing up for you ladies! The letdown is real. Hope the drinks help lift your spirits!
@emmasemm Best of luck with your procedure! I hope those swimmers and egg make some magic happen! Also, you are brave to have tasted Durian! It smells so foul I don't think I could do it.

GTKY: What is one thing you’re glad you tried but would never do again? I'm not proud of this one, but I did Ecstasy once when I was 19 and had a great experience, but I made a very conscious decision to never do it again because it was definitely something I didn't want to get into.
