PSA: BRU expected to declare bankruptcy

just saw this article that BRU and TRU are likely going to declare bankruptcy. If you have gift cards use them now. I worked for Borders when they went under and the gift cards were instantly worthless!

We used BRU for our registry and loved it but with this news I would def keep an eye on what they have going on when you start thinking about opening a registry.

I'm still not happy that borders closed. I couldn't care less about BRU though.

That sucks! We have a BRU right around the corner. It's great for when we need specific baby items and don't want to wait for Amazon. We also did one of our first registries there. You can bet your bottoms I'll be hitting up clearance sales if this is true!

The article going around FBook said they likely aren't closing stores. They just need to restructure their debt.

All of this makes sense to me with the exception of the gift card one. When companies do go out of business, they sell to liquidators, and trust that they do not give heads ups to the public on that. Once that happens gcs will be null and void. From going through this process, I'd recommend using your GCs now.

I had a friend that posted a picture from one of the stores. It said they are not taking returns or giftcards. I tried online and they work online.

A mom friend from my last BMB already had a store deny her GC's. Apparently you can still use them online, but I would really hurry to use them since it sounds like time is ticking.

Strange that they weren't allowed to us GCs. Sounded to me like they are re-organizing not going out of business. Plus the money has already been paid for the GCs. I can't see how they can deny you?

It sounds like a glitch since she was able to use them online. But still, makes me wonder...
