@sardavbak Yeah, while I'd be happy with a weekly I feel like we don't have enough regular participants lately so monthly is a good choice.
I'm good! NT went well (whew!) and supposedly out of 1st tri tomorrow (unless you think 1st tri lasts till the end of the 13th week, in which case I'm currently shaking my fist at you).
We haven't told everyone yet, but told my MIL a few weeks ago and she keeps saying "two for one!" like it's a deal at Walmart or something. She means well, but it makes me cringe a bit.
As someone who isn't in love with unsolicited advice, I will say I'm enjoying the fact that I can play the twins card whenever someone pregnancysplains something to me.
What about you guys? Done genetic testing yet? Eye rolling some multiples comments lately?
@sardavbak. Been stressed lately! We are still trying to figure out the type of twins I have. Either mo-di or momo ... so I've been trying not to google too much. I'm scheduling a high risk appointment sometime this week or early next week to help determine which type and then the treatment plan can be made from there.
We've told close family and friends since I did have an ED scare earlier last week with some bright red bleeding. Ended up being a subchorionic Hemorrhage... which has now started to resolve. So, thankful, for that. But, it was stressful and I felt like holding in the news of the twin pregnancy from loved ones was just adding to the stress. Everyone is excited, but anxious as well to find out more answers. Now it's just a waiting game.
@vflux33 I've been playing the twins card lately too lol. A friend of mine basically said I needed to suck it up and push through the fatigue and I was like "well, I'm growing two humans, so it's more exhausting than a single pregnancy was!" (Read between the lines, lady!!)
We had the NT scan about a week ago, good measurements for both. Also had the bloodwork done for testing and anxiously waiting on the results! It won't tell us genders for sure unless it's 2 girls, but I'm anxious to know if there is at least one boy or not! We'll do anatomy scan at 18 weeks, which is 4 more weeks of waiting!! I'm dying to know!!
@sardavbak Nice! I decided I couldn't emotionally handle knowing the sex of one but not the other and it wasn't covered for me/didn't feel I needed the extra genetic stuff so we won't know anything until our anatomy scan in over 5 more weeks. I can't wait to hear your update!
Hello! I haven't introduced myself yet. My name is Amanda. I'm 37 and expecting unexpected fraternal twins on March 16. We were very surprised to find we were having twins, a consequence of being an older mom, apparently! I live in Washington State and have a 20 month DD.
So far this pregnancy has been simultaneously easier than my last one (surprisingly little nausea and no vomiting) and harder -- I already look like I'm 5 months pregnant and feel just generally uncomfortable all the time.
My NT scan was on Tuesday and I was super nervous but the measurements came out well. Also, an unexpected surprise, the technician was able to tell it was b/g twins! I'm mostly keeping that to myself for now because I was skeptical that they could tell this early, but the dr said he could confirm it with 70/80% certainty.
I'm looking forward to chatting with other multiple moms about our shared challenges and experiences!
Hi @awdonovan, congrats, and welcome! Glad to see a new MoM face here, it's been feeling a little lonely for us lately! Also I like seeing more west coast people here (I'm in NorCal)--I feel like this site trends east coast/midwest.
I don't know about the whole determining sex thing that early, so it makes sense you'll be keeping that to yourself until you confirm again with a later ultrasound. At my NT ~12 weeks I was told telling that early was not possible.
I look 5 months pregnant too (confirmed by my doctor). This is my first pregnancy so I don't have a comparison point in my head but it's been a bit tough for sure.
If you haven't intro'd yet in the intro thread for March I'd go for it. That way if you want to participate in the general threads for the month people will know who you are.
So we still haven't digested the fact that we are having twins yet. Wasn't even really a possibility in our minds! The ultrasound tech told me and I called him a liar. *oops*
all we know so far is that they're di-di
I told my s/o that I'm twice as tired and twice as grumpy #pregnantwithtwinsexcuses
@awdonovan the poor tech... I didn't believe him at all... I left his office in such a hurry that his receptionist chased me down the hallway with the reqs for my bloodwork (and I forgot to go pee! lol) I'm still in shock
Hello everyone! Im having di/di twins that are due March 9th. They are boy/girl twins. I am currently 15wk3days today. I was told they wont let me go over 37wks. Have any of you been told when you will have them? I have my first cervical check ultrasound this week with my ob. I would be happy with a weekly as well, but a monthy would still be fine. Anyone have any appointments this week?
@momma6angels11 I totally replied to you in the intro thread before even checking here--oops! I'm 14 w 5 d with di/di and when I asked my OB what to expect with a timeline she just said we can't predict that now (this is my 1st and 2nd and no preexisting issues that we're currently aware of so all kind of a guessing game at this point).
Hey!@cowboycorgi how are you and baby a doing? @vflux33 yeah i posted here right after i posted my intro. Ive got a placenta previa at the moment..praying it moves off my cervix soon.. baby b only has one artery in her cord so we will have to watch her more and that could even make us go earlier than 37weeks. So you haven't been sent to a MFM doctor yet?
@momma6angels11 Nope, my HMO's policy (which all doctors have to follow) is that with a di/di twin pregnancy you only see a MFM if there is a known complication later on. I did switch to a hospital with a MFM on staff though. I have mixed feelings about not seeing a MFM TBH-- glad they don't see a need to send me to one, but wish I could check in with one. My new OB has been trained in/and has done twin deliveries at least.
One of my placentas was also covering my cervix at my last ultrasound but they all said not to worry about that this early because it usually moves later. If it sticks around then I guess I might see a MFM after all. Did they tell you that's a concern already?
Crazy (and a bit scary) how the standard of care for this stuff varies so widely!
@momma6angels11 My doctor told me she wouldn't let us go past 38 weeks. I delivered our DD at exactly 39 weeks. I'm due mid-March so I'm just planning on mid-to-late February now! I went to a MFM for my NT scan and NIPTs blood test, but thankfully those results turned out fine so fingers crossed I don't have to go back to them later in the pregnancy!
@vflux33 its good that you dont have to go to a MFM yet. The MFM told me not to worry about the placenta yet as it could move, but that i should expect more spotting/bleeding because of it. They will be watching that, but an ob could also watch a placenta too. @awdonovan it was my MFM that said 37wks. Its great that everything looked good on your NT scan!
Mine said if I go into labor after 36 weeks they will let them come, but they also won't let me go past 38 weeks. I'm being seen by my regular OB - they said they have plenty of experience with twins and don't refer out to MFM unless issues/higher level multiples.
We also did the NIPT testing and found out no major genetic issues and at least one BOY in there! We won't know if it's B/B or B/G until the anatomy scan in a few weeks though - I'm dying to find out!!!
@momma6angels11, Doing well! I just had an ultrasound on Tuesday, and NO MORE SCH! However complete placenta previa so continued pelvic rest. Baby A is looking very healthy, and dancing up a storm. Baby B is still hanging around, but I know I will be sad when the ultrasound comes and he is completely absorbed. I like seeing evidence that he existed, even if it is just for me.
Sorry to hear that you have PP as well. We still have plenty of time of it to move, so FX that it does so quickly. Also positive thoughts for your Baby B that 1 artery keeps giving baby all it needs!
Hi all I haven't introduced myself yet, I'm expecting di/di twins towards the end of March, but my OB doesn't want me to go past 38 weeks so we are looking at closer to mid March (which means DH might end up sharing his birthday, lol). Our littles were conceived through IVF so we weren't super surprised that we are expecting twins. Most (if not all) of our friends and family know we are having twins because I have been blogging about our infertility journey and most have been supportive about it (I've gotten the standard "do you know what you are getting into?" and "Are you sure you're ok with twins?" comments from a couple of people).
I'm feeling ok, morning sickness came and went which I feel very blessed about. I am having one of the longest running stiff necks of my life right now which is a bit of a pain because I can't use my normal treatment for it (muscle relaxers). I also have had a really bad runny nose the entire pregnancy so far, which is just irritating, lol. We do plan on finding out what the genders are, but we are waiting until our gender reveal party after the anatomy scan to find out.
I'm currently just seeing an OB/Midwife (they are at the same practice so if the OB isn't available I see a midwife). Since these are our first 2 we aren't going to see a MFM unless there is a problem. Our OB and the midwives at the practice have all delivered twins so that isn't something we are super concerned about.

is anyone else still struggling with MS? I'll be 16weeks tomorrow and am continuing to throw up almost every day. I've got an appt on Tuesday so I'll ask my OB then, but SO. OVER. BARFING. Ugh
@sardavbak I'm one of the lucky ones who has MS alllll pregnancy long. I don't even do pregnancy tests at this point because I know as soon as I puke. Lol. I've always been offered diclectin but all it does is make me sleepy.... like I need help in that department.
@sardavbak@syssa-o I'm sorry you guys are still feeling so sick! I'm 15 + 5 and although I still have to be careful about avoiding certain meats and brushing my teeth, I haven't felt really sick for the last few weeks (I am getting lots of other not fun symptoms but not MS). I hope you guys feel better soon!
Thanks @Cowboycorgi im definitely praying the pp move quickly, and that baby B thrives despite the 1 artery cord. That is so awesome that your sch cleared up! Im so glad baby A is doing great. I pray your pp fixes itself as well. @amanning2011 im so thrilled to see you here . I wondered what happened to you from the fet group. As for MS.. im sorry for those who still have it. I sometimes get sick from taking all the supplements they've got me on but thats about it.
@notthefather I don't know, but I've been wondering about @Gingham too... I think last time she stopped by she said she had horrible MS and was on here less because of it, but that was awhile ago. Been thinking about her and @missydallas too. If either of you see this I hope all is well!
We ended up losing one of the babies at almost 12 weeks (no heartbeat, last appointment with the RE), so I've been in a funk. Although I was completely overwhelmed at the thought of having triplets, this was still devastating. The other two babies are doing really well, though. I'm still having ultrasounds about every other week, but should be put on a "normal" schedule after next weeks appointment.
Still have pretty intense all day nausea and exhaustion, ugh! Hope everyone is doing well and I will check in more often
Oh @Gingham I'm so sorry. I don't think anyone could blame you for being in a funk. I hope you get some physical relief from the nausea and exhaustion soon. I'll be thinking about you and your sweet babies.
*lurker* @Gingham, I'm so so so sorry for your loss! I understand that confused feeling of being overwhelmed and devastated at the same time. I'm glad you checked in, and hope your nausea eases. *hugs*
