Re: Symptoms Week of 9/11

  • @vflux33 I've been pretty lucky when it comes to stretch marks, but I do have them on my boobs, belly button thanks to the piercing I needed so bad as a teen, and my butt cheek/high upper thigh area. Ah well. Worth it.

  • 12w5d, and I feel like my nausea is only getting worse. I've thrown up 3x today.

Any STM that benefitted from unisom for the nausea? Just wondering when you were able to stop taking it. I know everyone's different, but after a few attempts to stop and failing miserably (puking the next day) at almost 13 weeks, I'm really starting to wonder when my best chance of weaning off would be. Forming a dependency is what I'm most concerned about. Also, I'm sick of having a bed time haha.
  • @sarah_haha760 I believe I stopped around 15 weeks.
  • the sinus pressure headaches are going to drive me batty!
  • @chasingroygbiv I'm in the same boat. Made it through my first pregnancy with one stretch mark. ONE. I'm 13 weeks now and I can already see 3. Must be karma coming back around for me.. boo.

It makes me really happy to see so many people describing themselves as hungry. It gives me hope that I'm going to get past the "vomit at every smell" stage soon! It's gotta go, I'm over it.
Also I noticed a lot of fellow chronic headache sufferers on here. Unfortunate fact that may help, if you're taking Tylenol often enough for your headaches it can actually make them worse in the long run. They're called "rebound headaches" or so says my neurologist. Pregnant ladies really get the short end of the stick, huh.

  • I just want to share this in case it helps anyone (maybe it's already been mentioned?), but I woke up with a more-terrible-than-usual headache (verging on my menstrual migraines of yore) and decided to try rubbing peppermint oil into my forehead for the first time ever. It helped BETTER and QUICKER than anything!!
  • @orbmaker i use peppermint oil for headaches too.... I can't remember who posted it, but someone mentioned a while back that it's not recommended during pregnancy- so I stopped :/

I did mean to ask my doc about it  - but I forgot so I'm erring on the side of caution.

Also - lately my headaches habe been in my sinuses and unfortunately I can't put the peppermint that close to my eyes without causing extreme discomfort. Tylenol also doesn't work for this particular headache. Only "pressure" seems to help. poor DH pushes against the bridge if my nose and under my eyes until i fall asleep. What a guy!
  • @bb3vj3n I did some preliminary googling prior to use and it wasn't on the list of "banned" oils during pregnancy. I did read something that suggested no more than three drops of any essential oil during pregnancy at a time... I did three drops on a cool, damp washcloth.

(probably best to confer with MD or midwife tho.)

so sorry you're dealing with that! Your DH is sweet.
  • I actually reached out to my OB's office about essential oils, and they said they're safe! @bb3vj3n & @orbmaker
I'm a massage therapist so I had some concerns about using EOs on clients, and I was told that as long as it wasn't causing me discomfort (nausea, headaches, etc) that it was safe to use them. She said to stay off the internet because there's so much conflicting information out there.  :D

@sarah_haha760 I'm in the exact same boat as you. I'm worried I won't be able to sleep without Unisom now, but the two times I tried to stop taking it, I was so sick the next morning. I'm about 13 weeks too, and  I wish I had an answer for you (and me), but just wanted to offer you real empathy! <3
