TTC After a Loss

TTCAL Check-In Week of 9/11

Re: TTCAL Check-In Week of 9/11

  • @ELeighMay is there anything he can do to reverse either issue? We are doing IUIs and the sperm wash does help with mobility.   I think there is something else but I can't remember.  FX crossed you get that 2nd lightening strike.  Anything is possible right...at least that's what I try to tell myself these days

  • Mack2342 He can do natural things like improve diet, take supplements, exercise and my favorite of the options is increase the BD frequency. Medically, we could try Clomid to increase the count, but that won't improve morphology. His motility is actually great. The ones he does have are good swimmers (this is my tiny glimmer of hope right here)! Morphology is the one thing that they know very little about. We are very fortunate to have a leading Dr. to treat him for this, but he said in all the ways we've advanced medically that's the one area that's left them baffled. They have no explanation for why low morphology happens and they have no fix for it.
We would have to pay out of pocket for IUI or sperm wash and simply can't afford it so we haven't even considered it, but his Dr. wasn't sure that it would work with him anyway so he didn't really encourage trying. The damage that the previous Dr. did with misdiagnosing him and putting him on the dangerous levels of testosterone did a lot of damage to his reproductive system.
  • Welcome @salvakla, I'm sorry for your loss. Hope your stay here is short. Just wondering though, would the taco truck also include mobile margaritas? Asking for a friend.... ;)
    Me: 39 DH: 39
CP 1/25/16 4.5 weeks, developed Graves' disease
  • amberruka OHHhhh, That's a seriously good question! And she did mention it made house calls. I would run behind that taco truck like a dog!
  • @ELeighMay man that sucks. I'm glad you are working with a doctor and I hope that more BD is in your future! FX crossed for you
  • Hi I'm new and looking for support TTC after loss. I had a d&c, hysteroscopy to remove a septum and laparoscopy to remove suprise endometriosis - all within the past 7 weeks. 2 weeks out from Hyst/lap and waiting to get AF. Allowed to start trying again Sept 26. VERY ANXIOUS to get AF and figure out my cycle after the MC.
Status: waiting for AF - TTC after Sept 26
Rant: my husband works on an oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico and left today for 4 weeks. With all the hurricanes it's a scary time to be on the ocean!
Dreams:  I've been taking melatonin to help me sleep so - they are wild!

    Not new. Still here. TWW

***TW a good friend is currently in labour. So many mixed emotions tonight. One of my close friends  (who has been such a rock for me these past few months) lost her baby 2 year ago at just a few weeks from full term. It was heartbreaking but she kept trying and got pregnant again. She's been having a pretty scary pregnancy as she has polyhydramnios (too much amniotic fluid) and the risk of stillbirth is quite high. She's 36.5 weeks and her Dr is inducing her first thing tomorrow morning. I'm so incredibly happy for her but I'm scared to death that something could go wrong again. And of course all of these emotions have opened up the floodgates for my own losses as well. Sometimes being a women is just plain freaking hard. ***END TW

As for dreams, I dreamt my boat was being stolen the other night and I was running after it but couldn't catch it. It was going through hallways and turning corners and everyone I got closer it would speed up. Someone was towing it but I couldn't see who it was. So random.

It's midnight and I'm exhausted so I'll have to catch up on my replies tomorrow but I wanted to quickly let both @Knottie1450313382 and @salvakla that I'm sorry you are joining us here, i hope your stays are short
  • @40momma FX for your friend. I really hope everything goes smoothly for her. Keep us updated.

  • I'm going to have to go back through and catch up to read everyone's posts! Introduced myself on last weeks thread.

We decided to evacuate last minute on Saturday morning from the Tampa Bay Area and just returned last night. Thankfully we have power and no damage to our house. Got the all clear that HCG was out of my system last Friday and could try again this cycle so we are on CD 13.
  • @40momma hope everything goes well for your friend!

@katie121209 That is great news about your house! And hopefully ur stay here is short!
  • Knottie1450313382 I'm sorry for your loss, but that's good that you got the "go ahead" to TTC. I had my D&C on 7/31 and waiting for AF was the worst part following the loss. I hope it comes quickly so you can jump back on the train. It's a bummer your DH is gone for so long. I complain about mine working insane hours, but he still comes home every evening even if it's 11pm before he walks in the door. I forget how lucky we are and how much harder others have it. I can't imagine trying to be away for that long. Can he communicate regularly so you know he's safe?
  • I had the most fun dream last night! I dreamt I was in Paris (I've never been and have never really had it on a wish list but now I do!). Anyway, I was running through the streets and over a bridge and I was just so darn excited to be in Paris and it was beautiful.

No news yet from my friend, I'm hoping it's because she's too busy snuggling her little one, waiting patiently on pins and needles

@ELeighMay I'm so sorry for the news, hugs

@GeekBeagle - how did it go with your friends? I find sharing my news scary but helpful with the healing process

@robyn2201 you're welcome to our snow up here in Canada any time! I actually live on the west coast where we mainly get rain and only a week or two of snow but last winter we got hit hard with 3 -4 months of the stuff and they are saying this winter will be similar. Ugh.

@MooFish2364 that dream sounds gut wrenching

@Mack2342 your dream - blech!! no thank you
  • @40momma we are in New England and it's supposed to be a horrible winter. I don't mind winter in Dec but hate it otherwise!! I don't do winter sports or anything. I much prefer every other season!
  • @40momma Telling friends went well. I wanted to say it, but didn't know how and eventually the husband asked, "So what's been going on, anything new and exciting?" because we hadn't seen them in a while. I said "Well nothing new and exciting" and went on to tell them. It helps to have some sort of prompt. They were very supportive and it felt good to have it out in the open. They said that they had thought something was up based on the last time we saw them (it was 3 days after my D&C).

Therapy also went well and I liked the therapist.
  • @GeekBeagle It's funny how sometimes good friends just know, glad it went well

@sprkls8506 I'm originally front the east coast (of Canada) and we used to get horrible winters but the last 2 or 3 years they've had quite mild winters where as us on the west coast have gotten hammered. I think I'm going to need a hot sunny vacation somewhere tropical to get me through
  • sprkls8506 I'm in Minnesota and our winter this year is supposed to be super bone-chilling cold, but virtually no snow. I'd far rather have the snow, but it draws out our fall a bit which is never long enough.
  • @40momma we were in Niagara Falls this summer and we were thinking the mist must cause some crazy weather conditions. We have had two not so horrible winters. Snow but we weren't buried. A tropical vacation would be great during the winter!!!

@ELeighMay I've heard Minnesota winters are brutal!!!
  • sprkls8506 Compared to other parts of the country I would say they're pretty brutal. We get blowing and drifting snow with wind chills down to -50*. Our coldest day last year without the windchill factor was -38*. I've always lived here so I don't even realize that they'd be considered harsh, but occasionally I come across someone who isn't actually from here and it's interesting to get the perspective of someone who's never experienced it. My cousins wife from California had her first winter here and it was a hard learning curve for her. She couldn't figure out why our cars have electric cords hanging out the hood or why everyone drives around with a bag of kitty litter in their trunk. She was also not a fan of driving on the lake for ice fishing. I would think a Canadian winter would be worse than ours. I get sick of summer if that's even possible, but I do miss the sunlight. It's dark when we are driving to work and dark when we head home. That gets old.
  • @ELeighMay I cannot imagine moving from CA to Minnesota !!! I don't know if I could make that move! We have random days til wind chill that cold but they are rare!! Soon we do the clock change and I miss the sunlight when we do that! We have been trying to take advantage of the last of summer every nite with walks!
  • 1. Hi. I'm Vanessa. Been lurking for a bit, and decided to try and post more often.
    2. MC in July at 8 weeks. Had first AF and are actively trying.
    3. R/R? Not right now.
    4. GTKY: More sleep. Is it weird to be so tired you dream of having more time to sleep and relax? lol
  • Seriously tho. I need to be able to turn off any pregnancy updates on fb-even celebrity related!!  :D
  • nessie1313 I'm sorry for your loss, but welcome to the group. There's far too big of a group of March '18 ladies here.

sprkls8506 Can we also include ads for maternity clothes to that list? It pisses me off every time they pop up.
  • @EleighMay @sprkls8506 Yes please, turn off all the pregnancy/baby related ads and announcements! I have maternity ads, breastfeeding ads, baby clothes ads, you name it. And nonstop friends of mine getting pregnant or having babies.

@nessie1313 @salvakla Welcome to the board, I'm sorry for your loss.

@40momma Oh my goodness, I can only imagine what your friend is going through. Please keep us updated, I hope everything is going good for her! I was told before my MC that I had a 35-50% chance of miscarriage or stillbirth at any point in my pregnancy, even if I carried full-term, he could still be born stillborn. So I was definitely imaging all the worst-case scenarios for myself. It's such a horrible feeling to know of a high chance of MC or stillbirth.

  • Yes we can - via text and sometimes calls weather permitting. It's definitely a wild life.
  • @katie121209 @Knottie1450313382 @nessie1313 @salvakla Sorry for your losses! Hope your stay here is short
  • @mack2342 Ha! Must have been Flip or Flop. They’re always getting into really nasty houses! I think I will make some kind of a complaint after my surgery goes through.

@moofish2364 Me too! Castor oil seems to be amazing. I know my friend who has endometriosis has moved towards the dietary changes and she mentioned that it has really worked for her. I think it’s kind of like paleo but without red meats?

@dpjennifer Hey bench buddy – thanks for your company :) This is true. Nothing that was done physically hurt me. It was very sloppy though and I would hate for someone who is maybe nearing the end of their ability to get pregnant (age wise) to have this kind of a delay.

@leahcimmichael Your DH is so adorable!!!  I think the online review may be the way, since it’s really just the sloppiness and precious time. Dpjennifer made a good point, since I wasn’t harmed in any physical way, it may not be worthwhile to push it up through the main clinic.

@salvakla Welcome to the board. I’m sorry for your loss. You can swing that taco truck over to my house any time. Perhaps you missed your calling?

@eleighmay Yes, thankfully there was no physical harm, but I definitely wouldn’t want someone else to go through this, especially when it’s a straightforward fix. I’m so sorry that happened to your DH. I’m hopeful that you will have luck on your side again, whichever route you choose to pursue.

@knottie1450313382 Welcome to the boards. You may want to change your name to something more recognizable so we can recognize you moving forward :) Anyways, I am also having a septum removed the end of this month (all prayers focused on this). How was the procedure recovery? FX for you that everything was fixed and you’ll be well on your way!

@40momma Wow, how hard for your friend. Is there any update. FX for a safe delivery for her.

@katie121209 Glad to hear that you were not majorly impacted by the storm.

@sprkls8506 Ugh I have heard that we are in for a terrible winter too. We are kind of due but I am hoping it doesn’t end up being that way. Thankfully we have a snow blower this year.

    @geekbeagle Glad it went well!

    @nessie1313 Welcome to the board.

  • @msstephanielynn yep, similar to paleo. Endo diets mostly say to cut out caffeine, alcohol, red meat, dairy, gluten, etc. I don't follow a strict diet but do cut out or swap foods where it's feasible. My RE doesn't seem to think I need to do anything like that but I don't see how it can hurt.

  • I got a sympathy card from the hospital today. It was signed by one of the nurses that took care of me during my D&C. Sweet gesture, but seems kinda weird to get it 6 weeks later. Did anyone else's hospital do something like this?
  • **TW @msstephanielynn @fishee333 @MooFish2364 @sprkls8506 and anyone else who was wondering - my friend had her baby and everyone is doing well!! Huge sigh of relief. **END TW
  • @40momma that is great news!! Congrats to your friend!!
  • 1. Introduce yourself (if you're new) Newbie here, but I've been stalking the forums til I was able to comment!  Our daughter was born still 3/10/2017 at 41 weeks.

    2. Status? CD11 WTO.  Hubby is eager to TTC, I'm just going with the flow...trying to not think too much about it.

    3. R/R? Not much, not thrilled about returning to work last month, but not rant worthy.

    4. GTKY: what have you been dreaming about lately (literally)-anything weird, i.e. skating on mashed potatoes? Anything you feel like sharing...

I can't remember anything specific other than 1. I've been dreaming a lot more than I have in the past 6-7 months and 2. They're really vivid dreams.  I haven't had anything like it since I was pregnant with our daughter.
  • @cara228 I am so extremely sorry for your loss. Your story sounds really sad, but we have all been there with the mourning and anxiety to ttc again. I am really impressed with your "going with a flow" attitude, I wish I could sometimes just relax and think that way, but I am total control freak. I hope you are here only for a very short time!
  • @aga31 Thank you, it hasn't been the easiest "go with the flow", sometimes my Type A personality appears
  • @cara228 so sorry for your loss.
  • @cara228 I am so very sorry for your loss. I hope you can find some comfort here.
  • @cara228 I'm so very sorry for your loss.

    @40momma that is great!

@GeekBeagle I got a sympathy card from the same nurse with both of my losses.   It also included a card to some WINGS events like a memorial service and a remembrance walk.  We are planning on going to the remembrance walk in a couple weeks.
  • @cara228 so sorry for your loss.  I can't imagine the pain you must have felt.
