I was at my in laws' today and found myself halfway through a burger before realizing it was pretty darn pink (eek!). So, of course I'm freaking out and worried I've done something awful to harm my little pal, but I'm also just thinking about how many rules there are to pregnancy.
I hope I get better at learning/remembering them (assuming everything does turn out to be okay.) Has anyone else had any slip-ups with this pregnancy or others?

@tincupchalice That's pretty much me too. But on rare occasion, I'll even have a small glass of wine after second trimester.
I just can't live my life on egg shells like that. I don't judge women who do more. I try not to judge women who do worse (although that's harder because literally less is drinking, smoking, and worse). I take my vitamins and live my life. I have way too much other crap to worry about.

It wasn't hard for me to stick to the rules in my first tri last time because I was so sick. Now that my morning sickness is ramping up again, it's the sameness. A lot of things just sound bad to me.
I threw up until 28 weeks, too. I wonder what changed that week. My son was born at 34 weeks though, so I only got a few weeks vomit free. That is good to hear it wasn't as bad with all of your pregnancies. I used Zofran, but my new OB wants me to use the other stuff (dic-something). She said if I was still sick, she would let me use Zofran, esp after 9 weeks.
I have noticed too that that protein helps, like hard boiled eggs were usually a safe choice. I am already a member of the HG Facebook group. I joined it before I even got my IUD out--I think it will be a good resource.
I did get a dental x-ray during the TWW. It was our first cycle NTNP, so I just didn't think it would happen so fast! I told my OB and she said not to worry about it.
I've said this many times on these forums, but I highly suggest reading "Expecting Better" by Emily Oster. She's a data analyst/economist and looks at the actual studies related to pregnancy rules - and what she finds may surprise you.
So far this book was hands down the most useful pregnancy book I read, not because it tells you what to do, but because it calmly presents the data on every major decision you'll need to make during pregnancy, and then encourages you to form your *own* opinions based on it, instead of treating you like an idiot who can't be trusted to understand anything other than black-and-white 'rules'.

I had to cut out coffee as it makes me sick this has happened to me with each of my
pregnancies that's the one sure sign I'm pregnant
For those feeling bad about eating medium rare steak, at least the Mayo Clinic book claims that eating a medium rare steak is fine - it's just a rare steak they restrict. So I haven't been worrying about that!
Honestly that's what drives me crazy more than anything. The "rules" seem to vary so much from book to book or doctor to doctor that it makes it all seem like bullshit to me. All the listeria focused restrictions seem pointless too since the outbreaks recently have been as likely to be cantaloupes and bean sprouts as milk or deli meat.
I am torn between thinking the rules are dumb and feeling guilty for not following them so I'm basically just super inconsistent. So I'll tell hubby one day we can't go for sushi, and then the next day order smoked salmon eggs benny with soft poached eggs for breakfast
I have been pretty strict about the no alcohol, and no high mercury foods, since those seem to be based on real science to me.
I've recommended this book so many times that the author should really give me royalties or something lol
