I appreciate cultural names, and live in an urban area, so I am used to meeting people that don't have traditional American names. There will definitely be pronunciation issues when people first read his name, but it sounds like a fairly easy name to say once you know how to pronounce it.
Although I'm all for parents naming their child a name that is culturally significant to them, I would take into consideration the area I live in. Is it likely that their will be other children (not necessarily Indian) that have cultural names, or will he be the only one?
I was unclear - yes baby is Indian. We want an Indian name that is easily crossed over, has a cool look, is unique, etc. That's why we wanted to go with Dhruv but want opinions on it's likability, pronunciation, is it teasable, etc. Thx for the replies!
I think people will ask how to pronounce it but then get it right after the first time or two. I don't see any obvious way to tease a kid with the name. It has a "cool" sound to me.
Re: Dhruv - Baby name?
I like it, it definately fit him.

If you're appropriating a name to look "modern/cool", hard pass.
