TTGP Grad Check-In - 9/7

Hey there TTGPers! How are things going? Let's do a casual check in, but if questions/structure help you, then here are the usual to use as guidelines:
How far along are you?
How are you feeling?
Any recent/upcoming appointments?

  • @fishsticks-n-custard @lund Idk how you ladies can deal with a water aversion. My mouth is always SO dry I have to constantly be drinking water. You should try some lemon! Sparkling water sounds good though too.
  • @JJMNO1616 I'm normally a person who drinks about 100 oz of water per day, and for most of this pregnancy I've been insanely thirsty - insatiable thirst was actually my first pregnancy symptom! The water aversion only happened in the last week, but it already seems like it may be passing thank god. And your little gummy bear is perfect!!!

@looeeze hi! Yeah, I haven't been super active on this BMB, but I do like keeping up with my TTGP grads!

@cards10 sorry for your not-so-fun trip to the ER! I've definitely heard of pregnancy induced tendinitis, hopefully it doesn't become a 9 month long thing for you!
  • @kmalls glad you're feeling better lately. And wow how exciting you'll find out the sex so soon :):)
  • @fishsticks-n-custard I hear ya. We didn't do genetic testing last pregnancy because it was subject to our deductible and way waaay too expensive. This time I have the oldz so insurance completely covers it. Score.

@lund I think I'm feeling a little less nauseated too!  My face is so bad as well.  I don't remember having this problem with DD but it's really bad right now.
@fishsticks-n-custard water is hard for me too right now.
@JJMNO1616 yay for a great ultrasound!
    @looeeze I hope everything is ok  <3
@kmalls that's awesome you can find out the sex so soon!  All the genetic screening is OOP for us so we opted out of it.
@saralee797-2 I was drinking La Croix but I had to stop because it turned into an aversion for me.  So sad.

    AFM:
How far along are you? 10+3
How are you feeling?  A little better I think.  I have had horrible hip pain the past two days.  Only 30 weeks to go.
Any recent/upcoming appointments?  I had an appointment on Tuesday and the doctor used the doppler and he found the heartbeat at 179 (I think if I remember correctly)  It was really amazing to hear it and assuring.  I hate to have to wait another 4 weeks but I don't think I should buy a home doppler.  I think the anxiety of not finding the heart beat because lack of expertise and hospital grade equipment might not be worth it.

    edit: spelling
  • @mispanda Such a shame that turned into an aversion for you  :/  I struggled with whether to buy a doppler too. It would be so nice to have if it worked but I think I would freak if I couldn't find the hb.

@fishsticks-n-custard no, that position didn't hurt. The dr did ask me to do that motion. My pain was on the top of the wrist. Couldn't bend up or down. Hopefully you don't get it again!
Aaaand now you've made me crave lemonade!

@saralee797-2 glad your u/s went well :) and along with you and @mispanda I also debated getting a Doppler last pg but a bunch of bumpers talked about how much it stresses them out so I didn't do it.
  • @looeeze I have been thinking about you and wondering where you went. I hope everything with your family is ok.

@cards10  That's such a bizarre symptom! I would have had no idea either.

@kmalls  I think I am going to get a blood test to find out the sex at my next appointment in 4 weeks! It's crazy the things they can do. We also talked to a patient financial counselor at my Dr. office today and she told us we should just pay for the genetic testing out of pocket and not even bill the insurance because it will actually be cheaper. I thought that was weird.

@saralee797-2 Glad to hear your appt went well!

@mispanda I agree with the other posters that the doppler would make me go cray cray.

@stalkinghorse Oh no! I'm so sorry to hear about your tooth! Hopefully it can be fixes once and forall soon. Dental problems are the worst.

@hedgepig Hope you have a great anniversary!!
  • @stalkinghorse congrats on making it past your MC date! That feels so good! What a crappy tooth story, hopefully you can get that sorted out asap at home.
@hedgepig happy anniversary :) how did telling your parents go???

I haven't been suffering from super bad PGAL brain lately. I think I've been too busy and tired to really think about it. And it's been nice. But last night I had a dream that I was bleeding when I went to the bathroom. And I had this dream once last week too. Why the eff am I dreaming about going to the bathroom?! I guess my subconscious is still worried about it. The dream was real enough that I woke up worried and at first couldn't tell if it was a dream or I really woke up in the middle of the night and that was real. My Tue u/s, and hopefully some reassurance, cant come soon enough!
  • @lund Glad to see your post - I have missed you!
@fishsticks-n-custard I hope the time flies until your appt and that you're feeling better by then too!
@JJMNO1616 Look at that adorable little bean! <3
@looeeze I miss you too! Glad to see you here, and glad that this thread can be a safe place <3
@cards10 Yay for your appt next week! Sorry about the tendonitis.... I have definitely had some weird unexplained joint pain, including my wrist, and came to the same conclusion about the relaxin. Glad you're feeling better! Also, telling my folks was awesome - they are sooooo excited!!! It was really fun :)
@kmalls Glad you're feeling better too! Also, how did your parent meeting go?
@saralee797-2 I'm so happy for your good U/S with your LO wiggling all around!
@mispanda I'm very jealous of you getting to hear the heartbeat - apparently we will get that at the first midwife appt, but I don't know when that will be yet.
@stalkinghorse Sorry about your tooth! What awful timing!

  • @stalkinghorse hopefully your tooth fix goes smooth today and you won't have to worry about it breaking anymore!
@kmalls that is tough.  DD should start preschool when shes 3 but only if I can get her to potty train.  They won't take anyone it diapers which I totally get but my child hates underwear and the toilet.
@cards10 sorry about those kind of dreams, they are the worst.  I hope Tuesday comes quickly for you!

  • @cards10 That is a terrible dream. I feel you on how vivid they can be right now though. Last night I dreamed that I had to pee in my make up bag because I had to go so bad. I woke up REALLY having to go too... I feel like bed wetting might be in my future  :/  please no.
  • @cards10 Oof, sorry you had to make the ER trip. But sounds like the safest bet was to go- I hope the pain goes away soon. And good luck on Tuesday, FX for you!

@kmalls That's pretty exciting! Are you doing a reveal or anything, or keeping it to yourself?

    @fishsticks-n-custard Mmm now I've got a craving for Chik-Fil-A...

@mispanda Agree about the anxiety a home doppler would cause. So happy that you got to hear a strong heartbeat! Did it help your PGAL brain?

@stalkinghorse Yes, the mint helps. I've just been using that as an excuse to eat a ton of junior mints  :/ How did your dentist appointment go?

  • @fishsticks-n-custard I somehow always want chick fil a on a Sunday. That food literally saved my life from MS about two weeks ago. So happy that you found the heartbeat. It is definitely an emotional experience!

Hope everyone is having a good weekend!! :)
  • @fishsticks-n-custard Awww, that makes me so happy!

  • @fishsticks-n-custard yay so glad you saw the heartbeat!!! Was that trans-abdominal? Impressive. So happy you have that reassurance so early!

and you just gave me serious flashbacks to 2005 when I lived in Atlanta and sat in the chik-fil-a drive in line for like 10 minutes saying "helloooo?" Until I realized it was Sunday. Face palm. I was from MI and had no idea about the closed on Sunday thing lol
  • @cards10 It was trans abdominal. I drank so much water to get a full bladder and good acoustic window. It legit looked 4 times the size of my uterus. I let the nurse and tech take a peak and she was like, "That's a big gestational sac." "No friend, that's my bladder"

  • @kmalls I didn't want to resurrect last week's WTF, but did your BFF come to her senses and decide to get her pregnant ass the hell out of dodge?

  • @fishsticks-n-custard ahhhh I'm so happy you saw a heartbeat!! That is SUCH an emotional moment <3

...and no, my pregnant friend and her two little boys and her husband did not get out of Miami. They lost power as of 7pm last night. I'm scared for them, though I'm hoping the shift in location of the storm saves them from the worst of it.

Speaking of the shift, my parents have a first floor condo in Naples -- which is now getting SLAMMED. Thankfully they're snowbirds and are still up here in MA, but they have little hope the condo will come out of this unscathed. So many people have it so much worse, though, so they're just thankful a condo is just a thing and they are physically safe.
  • Are you guys doing NIPT testing and/or an NT scan? I was given labs for the Materni21 test but I don't have an NT scheduled. My books seem to indicate that the accuracy increases if given together. Is it not necessary to do both?

@saralee797-2 - usually the NT scan is given in combination with a quad screen (also a blood test) and those increase the accuracy of both.

NIPT is more accurate either of those, so an NT scan isn't totally necessary. That being said, I'm having my Panorama blood draw on Monday and my NT scan on Friday -- not entirely sure why. It seems like overkill.

    Edited for clarity
  • @saralee797-2 My understanding is identical to @kmalls - I am getting Harmony NIPT on Tuesday and it is supposed to cover everything that the NT scan + quad screen would have, and with better accuracy.

  • Okay that makes sense. Thanks @kmalls @hedgepig I feel better now.
  • @looeeze sorry about the delayed response.  I haven't been on in a few days.
Hearing it did help PGAL brain but then afterwards my anxiety came back because I have to wait 4 weeks to my next appointment.  I'm just going about my days now trying not to focus on anything because if something is going to happen it's out of my control.

@fishsticks-n-custard so happy you found that heartbeat!  It's a great feeling when you see it.
  • What's going on this weekend ladies?!

I have a headache that Tylenol won't touch and I'm currently trying an ice pack on the back of my neck. Really putting a kink into the start of the weekend. Better not ruin my shopping plans tomorrow!!!
  • Laying in bed right now wondering if this evening sickness is going to let up so I can eat dinner tonight. No real plans for the weekend. Probably just some cleaning around the house and a Costco run. Serious adulting over here.
  • @saralee797-2 I have migraines and mine just started ramping up (which happened when I was pregnant with DD too). If it's any consolation, they were better by 17-18 weeks and stayed much better til I delivered. But I feel you. Also have one right now and the tylenol did not help.

@JJMNO1616 Ugh, I have the evening sickness too. Been dry heaving intermittently for the last hour.

@kmalls That sounds like an awesome weekend! I hope y'all have fun.

AFM, working overnight tonight and then a birthday party tomorrow (assuming I can wake up in time to go!)
