  • 1) How far along are you? How big is baby?
    26 weeks; butternut squash

    2) How are you feeling? Any cravings?
It's still up and down with the nausea, but overall the trend is improving.

    3) Do you know baby's sex? Have you picked out a name?
    Team Green.  No.

    4) Any appointments this week/last?
    Nope.

    5) Rants/Raves/Questions?
I had my first experience of baby CLEARLY kicking my FULL bladder.  Ugh.  Such a strange/cool/uncomfortable feeling!

    6) GTKY:  What are your plans for Labor Day weekend/end of summer?
We were supposed to have a quiet weekend at home, but then DH's mom announced that she was hosting an event on Saturday AND THEN her sister announced she was hosting an event on Sunday. Ugh.  (These homes are 1.5 hours away, so even a quick visit is an undertaking.)  Also, DH's aunt ALWAYS serves lamb/ham/beef or something else that I don't eat AND considers it rude when I don't eat it. :(   I wish she'd either give enough of a fuck to serve something I eat or give so few fucks that she doesn't notice when I only eat salad/sides. I've eaten this way for 20 years, she's known me for 5, it shouldn't be a surprise every time.   :p

  • 1) How far along are you?  How big is baby?
23+1, babies are the size of Barbies.

    2) How are you feeling? Any cravings?
I feel fine i guess. Stuffy sinuses, but I fcan't el like that's pretty much it right now.

    3) Do you know baby's sex? Have you picked out a name?
We've got two girls coming our way. We're thinking Penelope and Abigail, but I like Penelope and Amelia better. I'm working on my husband.

    4) Any appointments this week/last?
We had an anatomy scan last week. Babies are looking good, weighing 1lb 1oz each :)

    5) Rants/Raves/Questions?
These babies are kicking up a STORM!  I'm feeling them on the outside and the inside now. It's great!
It's been soooooooooo hot where I live. We've had a super cold and foggy summer her in San Francisco and then all of a sudden it's 108 degrees for 2 days in a row. This happens every year; summer doesn't start until Labor Day. I've be been trying to stay cool and drink a ton of water. Today I've got a pool party :) Good Labor Day weekend!

    6) GTKY:  What are your plans for Labor Day weekend/end of summer?
Haha see above. Floating in a pool with a hot dog or popsicle in hand at all times.
  • @amberwaves Wow that sounds annoying that his aunt is so weird about what you eat.
@breezybee Penelope and Abigail are so cute! Love Amelia too though.

    1) How far along are you
    ? How big is baby?
    24 weeks - eggplant or G.I. Joe

    2) How are you feeling? Any cravings?
Feeling good! Started craving milk. Which is super weird for me as I have never wanted a glass of milk on it's own in my life (I would only ever have it in cereal or alongside freshly baked cookies/brownies)

    3) Do you know baby's sex? Have you picked out a name?
Boy, and no. We won't choose until we see him.

    4) Any appointments this week/last?
    Nope

    5) Rants/Raves/Questions?
Rave: our new house has AC (in Seattle it's not common for most people to have it) and I'm LOVING IT

    6) GTKY:  What are your plans for Labor Day weekend/end of summer?
We've just been working on unpacking/putting things away. Tomorrow we're going to my grandma's to see family and eat ribs! This is my last weekend before school starts (Wednesday) so I'm trying to just relax.

  • @Amber_Waves ugh I hope the aunt is more respectful of your food choices this weekend!
@breezybee we have had the opposite weather- sweltering hot in august and cooling down/raining now. Enjoy the pool time!
@moonlady-2 I've been craving milk too, specifically warm milk. So strange and I haven't caved yet because I'm a little lactose intolerant and I don't want to see what happens lol.

    1) How far along are you? How big is baby? 26w (+2d), butternut squash

    2) How are you feeling? Any cravings? Not bad but peeing so damn much! Craving sweet pastries and chocolate.

    3) Do you know baby's sex? Have you picked out a name?
He's a boy and we have a name but have been having some second thoughts. Trying to agree on an alternative.

    4) Any appointments this week/last? Nope

    5) Rants/Raves/Questions? I've been pretty lazy about baby prep and finally got some nesting instinct kicking in over the last couple of weeks. It feels good to get things ready!

    6) GTKY:  What are your plans for Labor Day weekend/end of summer? On Saturday I spent a day with my closest friends shopping and eating, and yesterday went outlet shopping for some baby clothes with DH. Today we are going to PBK to order baby's crib and dresser, followed by bingeing on The Wire for the rest of the day.
  • @Amber_Waves  If that aunt gives you a hard time I'd use this occasion to confront her since you can blame anything you say on the hormones lol.
@breezybee  Glad you've started feeling all the kicks! It's been a couple of weeks since mine really started moving, but I still get excited every time I feel them!
@moonlady-2  @blueskies17  I'm not craving milk, but I drank some while eating a cookie the other day and was astounded at just how good it tasted! Also, @blueskies17  I'm a little lactose intolerant too and I drink Fair Life brand milk. It's lactose free, but (IMO) tastes like normal milk (unlike Lactaid), plus it has added protein and calcium.

    1) How far along are you
    ? How big is baby?
    24+2, two little chinchillas!

    2) How are you feeling? Any cravings?
Last night my hips were killing me when I was trying to sleep. Hoping I can find some ways to combat that pain moving forward. No cravings, just love food in general lol!

    3) Do you know baby's sex? Have you picked out a name?
One boy, one girl. Elliana and Evan <3

    4) Any appointments this week/last?
I have an OB appointment on Thursday and I'm guessing he'll tell me when my one hour GD test will happen. We also have a meet and greet appointment with a potential pediatrician on Wednesday, so hoping that goes well.

    5) Rants/Raves/Questions?
Rave: DH and I went to Babies 'R Us on Saturday to check some products out and I tried some gliders for the nursery. Just getting excited because it's starting to feel more and more real! DH also started moving the guest room furniture out of what's going to be the nursery and we painted a big square of the color we want on the nursery wall. It looked nice!

    6) GTKY:  What are your plans for Labor Day weekend/end of summer?
We went to a Labor Day party yesterday, which was pretty fun even though the weather was kind of crappy. And I started sanding the dresser for the nursery on Saturday and will finish sanding and start painting today!
  • @Amber_Waves - so glad she finally made some items you could eat!
@leilagphillips - it really is starting to feel real!
@moonlady-2 I hope you enjoyed your last weekend before going back to school
@breezybee it's so cool to feel the kicks!

    1) How far along are you
? How big is baby? 25 weeks...size of an Oscar statue!

    2) How are you feeling? Any cravings? Bigger, lots of kicks now, occasional uncomfortableness. But still really can't complain compared to others. No real cravings. I have decided I'm officially having an aversion to orange juice. I usually love oj, but I just don't like it anymore.

    3) Do you know baby's sex? Have you picked out a name?
Team pink! We've got a small list but nothing definite.

    4) Any appointments this week/last? Had an appointment that went really well. But then I failed my 1 hour gd test, which is super frustrating. I'm trying to not be toooo concerned because

1- my test was in the afternoon and from what I've read a lot more false positives occur in an afternoon test compared to a morning test.

2 - it seems like different doctors use different levels as the cut off. Internet seems to tell me the cutoff is 140, but my doctor does 135. I came in between those two numbers, so hopefully it's just my Dr being cautious and I'll pass the 3 hour test.

    5) Rants/Raves/Questions? Anyone else take the 1 hour test in the afternoon? How did yours turn out?

    6) GTKY:  What are your plans for Labor Day weekend/end of summer? We went to my in-laws, which was fun. It was a pretty relaxing weekend.

  • Hey Saturday folks!

    1) How far along are you
    ? How big is baby?
26 weeks, the size of a head of kale.

    2) How are you feeling? Any cravings?
I'm feeling alright.  Still having some hip/pelvic pain, but trying to do my stretches and keep moving.  As of a week or so ago, also feeling way less energy than I was before.  Ugh, and got my first hemorrhoid a few days ago, right before our long weekend vacation road trip.  It's healing up now, but ouch, pretty bad timing!  :/

    Not really on the cravings.

    3) Do you know baby's sex? Have you picked out a name?
Nope, and still working on names!

    4) Any appointments this week/last?
Midwife monthly appointment tomorrow, and they'll also finally schedule my glucose test.

    5) Rants/Raves/Questions?
I posted about this in the symptoms post earlier, but also almost passed out in the middle of the night last night, getting up to pee.  I had rolled all the way flat on my back, and I guess I was so zonked I stayed there for a while.  I'll be using my snoogle every night from now on, that was really scary!  DW heard me as I grabbed the wall and side of the bed, and thank goodness I stayed on my feet.  She sprung up in a second and took over helping me out.  I am so grateful for her, and the fact that she is so calm, sweet, and no-nonsense in difficult moments.  So yeah, that's my rave for sure.  Just so so so grateful for my great partner. :)

    6) GTKY:  What are your plans for Labor Day weekend/end of summer?
We went to Chincoteague Island to the beach with my sister-in-law and her fiance.  It was just lovely.  Gorgeous beach day all day Sunday, but definitely lots of traffic driving out Saturday and back on Monday.  We saw some of the wild ponies out on the marsh during a drive along the wildlife loop on Assateague, ate great seafood, and ice cream every evening. :)

  • @leilagphillips and @Tennis11785, it IS really starting to feel real.  Pregnancy is no joke!  I keep trying to think about it as if I'm training for a marathon.

@leilagphillips- I so feel you on the hip pain, especially while trying to sleep.  I see the midwife tomorrow and I'm going to ask for a referral for a P.T. I think.  I hope it gets better soon!

  • @collectiveliving I did some googling on combating the hip pain while trying to sleep and saw that a lot of people suggested getting memory foam pads for your bed. I also saw several people say to keep your legs separated with a pillow to keep your ankles from crossing while you sleep. I didn't buy a foam pad yet since they're pricey, but I did put a memory foam pillow that I have under my hip and I put a boppy between my legs while I slept. I wouldn't say it was entirely comfortable, but it did ward off most of the pain. I still had to switch sides periodically through the night, but it definitely was a significant improvement over the night before!
  • Thanks @leilagphillips!

Definitely have tried different  pillow combos... I am going to go see a P.T. hopefully soon as well,  I definitely want to do whatever I can to keep moving and walking as much as possible, especially at just 26 and a half weeks!

  • I've been kind of quiet lately because I honestly just didn't want to talk about the results of my first fetal echocardiogram. I think I mentioned it in this thread only (or MoM thread). I really try hard to keep a positive mind, but hearing that my baby girl may have a congenital and probably life threatening heart defect really just had me in a slump. During the initial test, they couldn't get all of the measurements they needed for either baby. However, they noticed that baby girl has a right aortic arch and that is usually an indication of congenital heart disease. The doc also mentioned that it could be nothing, but we may want to think about having an amniocentesis. I could only schedule the follow up for a almost 3 weeks later. At first, the positive thinking was working, but then we started making purchases for the babies and it freaked me out at the thought of having to possibly return things or just that one of our babies may not make it past a year. A few days before the repeat test, I had several meltdowns, but still kept trying to think positive. Well, I'm super excited to let you all know that baby girl will be just fine! The repeat test showed that she does have a right aortic arch, but structurally the rest of her heart measurements were perfect and more than likely a congenital defect would show some type of structural issue as well. Plus, since I had the MaterniT21 testing come back normal, this doctor is not worried. He was super thorough, drawing diagrams to show us the arch and the minor issues it could potentially cause. Yesterday was such a hectic, but great day. I'm so happy my babies are OK and I hope that none of you have to go through these types of scares. I'm going to answer the weekly questions and comment on others later today. I have a ton of work to do today. Thank you all for listening/reading about my vent! I was still lurking here and there, but just didn't have much to say for a couple of weeks.
  • @clovelyone I am SO GLAD everything turned out okay for you and your baby girl! I actually started tearing up when I saw that she was okay. I hope the rest of your pregnancy is as stress free as possible!
  • @clovelyone Those three weeks must have been so stressful. I'm so relieved that your repeat scan had good news!! It's good to have you back!
  • @clovelyone I am so glad that your babies are ok.  Good to see you back as well.

  • Thanks a lot, ladies! I really appreciate your support.

@Amber_Waves I'm glad that they cooked something you could eat. I also understand that kicking the bladder thing. Sometimes, I feel like the babies are tap dancing on mine.

@breezybee I love Barbies! Glad your scan went well and that you found a pool to lounge in. My SO has only felt kicks once and I can't wait for that to become regular.

@moonlady-2 Yay for AC! Hope you've enjoyed your time off now that it's time to go back to school.

@blueskies17 I'm peeing a lot more now too.

@leilagphillips I love your baby names! Ugh! Pediatricians...we need to think about that and daycare.

@Tennis11785 That sucks you failed the test! I'd definitely schedule a morning appointment. I totally crashed a few hours after my test over the weekend (in the morning), but I passed. I had eggs and bacon for breakfast and then drank the drink.

@collectiveliving How did your midwife appointment go? Glad you're OK after the dizzy spell.

    1) How far along are you? How big is baby?
25+5 and babies are the size of cauliflower.

    2) How are you feeling? Any cravings?
I keep getting bouts of diarrhea here and there, peeing a lot and having hip and low back pain. I'm craving everything sweet. The cider mill I love opened this weekend and I had a donut sundae (a warm spiced donut with cinnamon ice cream and caramel) and yesterday had a piece of chocolate cake with a whiskey butter sauce and ice cream to celebrate the good news about the babies hearts. No regrets either LOL.

    3) Do you know baby's sex? Have you picked out a name?
A boy and a girl and yes, we finally decided on first names, but need to work on middle names.

    4) Any appointments this week/last?
I passed my 1 hour glucose test this weekend and had a great repeat fetal echocardiogram. That was literally the best news!

    5) Rants/Raves/Questions?
Rant: I wish I'd stop getting diarrhea off and on. My stomach feels sick and I end up not eating much those days which probably isn't the greatest for the babies. I know they get their nutrition first, but I feel guilty.
Rave: Both of my babies are healthy!!!
    No questions at this time.

    6) GTKY:  What are your plans for Labor Day weekend/end of summer?
We watched football and went to the cider mill on Saturday, Sunday went to the Jazz festival and did a ton of walking (and stopping to sit every 5 minutes LOL) and Monday we looked for cribs and car seats.
  • @clovelyone Thanks! Yeah... we need to look for daycare too, but I've been putting it off because it makes me sad. :unamused: I do have a couple of places in mind though. Also, my ulcerative colitis flared for over a month from the end of my first trimester into the beginning of my second trimester until we finally got it under control with some additional meds and despite that, my LOs were still measuring ahead at my last appointment, so try not to feel guilty. Those babies are resilient!
  • @clovelyone the appointment went just fine. Thanks for checking in and sorry for the delay!  I was in DC for a work conference last week, and wow, travel takes a lot out of me.  Glad to be back home now, and I am definitely sleeping with the snoogle pillow every night now. :)
