@mintea I too love Tallulah and MH likes it as well but I can't decide if it's a name that anyone would take seriously when she's 35. Ehhh. My BFF and I have had the discussion about how some names are so cute on littles like Micah for instance, but don't really grow well when they are adults. Also, my friends named their daughter Elowen Aiofe Rose and I will say that the mocking of Aiofe is very real in our group. Lol. Sorry!
@isntthatspeshul I also like Killian by my husband vetoed it pretty quickly.
girls names have been agreed on...middle name will be Jane after my late aunt and if we do have a girl, we are waiting to meet her before we officially pick one of the three.
for a boy we cannot agree on ANYTHING. We had a name chosen during our last pregnancy that we both loved but *TW* decided not to use it in any future children after we lost the baby. *End TW*. That said - we have not been able to land on any other names. DH absolutely 100% insists that a boy is to have my father's name as a middle name. I love that he wants to do that for my dad (who only had girls so none of us to carry on the family name) ..... but I don't like it. I love the idea in theory - but Ronald for a middle name doesn't sound right with anything. Open to suggestions!!!
Any first born girl (if I have one or more girls) has to be named with an I to honor my maternal grandmother (we're Jewish too, but for some reason my family only does this with maternal grandmothers). We don't have to use the exact name though.
MH and I love the name Persephone, but it means queen of the underworld, so hard pass.
@fatstagnation I'm irish and I love hardcore Gaelic names but my husband has a hard time getting behind them. Our last name is French so it makes it hard for them to flow together, I'm hoping to find an Irish name that's easier to pronounce but it's definitely a struggle agreeing!
For a girl Hedwig (hedy) or Agatha For a boy Wren or Ronin
and I might actually name my child one of those names because my entire family has crazy names. I think people would freak if we had a Bill or Mary in our family
I loooove the name Jude for a boy, but everyone I have brought it up to quickly reminds me that it sounds like Judy and people will think it's a girls name. I don't care, but MH doesn't like it for that reason

I love it, but then again I would sing Hey Jude all the time if it were my son. But seriously, great name.
@crunchybiologist my friend's son is Jude. It has never occurred to me that it sounds like anything other than a little boy's name. Haha. If you like it, go for it. Jude Law is a dude.

Well that's good! If I can convince MH, I'm for sure going for it!
If anyone here has some Dutch history, a boyfriend of mine (who passed away) was named Tal...it was a unique name but not too crazy...he was a really really cool, fun, amazing guy if anyone wants to use it! (I obviously can't, that'd be weird naming my baby after my late boyfriend?!)

I have two friends with sons named Jude. For what it's worth, no one is confused. It's a full syllable short of Judy.
I LOVE Chandler for a girl! My husband was okay with it but when we mentioned it to his best friend his reaction was literally, "please, please promise me you will not name your child the ugliest name I've ever heard" and I was broken hearted!
I always wanted the name Sophia for a girl since both my grandmothers and one of my great grandmothers is Sophia. Can't go there though because popularity. I am still keeping it on the middle name list though.
On the topic of names... do any of the STMs+ have any name regrets? As in, you named your child and later on you thought hmm I don't like it or that just wasn't quite right? We've had a boy and girl named picked out for quite awhile, and I've never second guessed them. Well now that it's actually happening, I sometimes think is this really a good name, will they like it, will it still fit well when they're older, it is too boring, etc.
I love the name Moira and so does my husband. No one can pronounce it here. It's insane. They all say, Mara. I cannot understand why it's so hard to pronounce. I also love Daphne, Phoebe, Margot and Agatha. DH does not like those names. It's going to be hard to find something we both agree on because he likes the name Helen and I vetoed that name. It also has to go with Suzanna (middle name after DH's mother that passed away).
I like the name Anna for a girl and Jonah for a boy-DH immediately vetoed Jonah (boo) and originally didn't like Anna but grudgingly said maybe. He picked DD's name and I picked DS's name (which he claims its still not one of his favorite names but it fits DS so well and everyone else thinks its cute and I know he secretly likes it) so he said it's his "turn" again. He mentioned Jaclyn but I'm still on the fence with that one. His grandfather's name started with a J and his dad's name starts with a J and his name starts with a J so he said he wanted a J name to keep the tradition going. I told him that if it really was a "tradition" then his parent's should have named his older brother with a J name instead of waiting to maybe have another child and then use the J name.
For middle names we gave DD my mom (and her mom's) middle name as DD's middle name. For DS we used my grandfather's and uncle's first name as his middle name. I think my dad was a little upset (he didn't say anything but he did joke that if we have a girl this time we should name her Roberta because his middle name is Robert) but his middle name just didn't sound right with DS's first name.
I think (hope) things will be a lot easier when we find out a gender!
I love some of the girl names from my favorite sci-fi shows, but my poor kid would have to grow up with it... Kaylee (Firefly) Aeryn (Farscape) Sabine (star wars rebels)
The boy name we picked out is going to be pretty generic, but I still want something unique for a girl.
Joining the Sebastian fan club, with the nickname of Bash. Like on Reign. I know, totally ridic, but the thread says guilty pleasures. GUILTY AS CHARGED.

This got me thinking, so I checked the social security web site, and the name Judy doesn't even appear on the top 1,000 names and hasn't since 1998, so almost 20 years ago. And even then it was barely there, at number 989. Baiscally: nobody is naming their kid Judy, and zero people will be confused.
Jude is an awesome name, though quite popular. There's the real problem. It was number 161 on the list last year.
