I've been running, mountain biking, and doing Orangetheory/otf. I'm not sure if I'll be able to run once I hit second trimester, I couldn't when I was pregnant with my first. I'm hoping I can keep doing otf throughout my pregnancy though. Funny thing, I see my OB from my first pregnancy at otf all the time. I'm sure she doesn't remember me from when I was pregnant before and I won't be seeing her for my first doctor visit until late September. I'm looking forward to getting her input on if I can stick with otf..
I have been running consistently but I'm worried my pace is already suffering. My running partner is now running a solid minute faster when she runs without me. Thinking I should just start running alone... anyone else have a running partner?

I was very active through my last 2 pregnancies, and plan to continue to do so through this one. I'm a group exercise instructor with a lot of ab work, so I need to check with my doctor to make sure I can continue to teach throughout this pregnancy. One workout I did last pregnancy that made a huge difference in recovery was barre workouts. It tightened up my pelvic floor so much and it was a night and day difference between my PP recoveries.
Ohhh, thank you for the tip. As a FTM, I'm most eager to learn what exercise helped you with labor and recovery. I will be horseback riding probably through 5 months (a lot of my friends rode until 8-9 months, but I'm a little older, so I want to be more conservative). they all bounced back so quickly after pregnancy, I think the riding helped keep their backs engaged.
On days I don't ride, i do yoga, hike and do strength training (really like LEKfit). I am really eager to stay as active as possible.

Suzanne Bowen's Slim and Toned Prenatal Barre workout. I had a small second degree tear with both deliveries, but my after my first, I couldn't sit comfortably for a week and a half. After my second, I was walking/sitting/manuvering comfortably within about 4 hours of giving birth. Also, when I was waiting to push with my second, the nurses told my husband they were very impressed with the control I had.
I joined an Oh! Baby Fitness class near my home. The class is a mix of light cardio, stretching, and prenatal yoga. The best part is the social support!!
Please us updated on what you find out in regards to core work. I won't be trying to do sit-ups or anything but am more concerned about how to keep my back and booty strong.

I've always been fairly active and truly love to exercise when there is time. I've been waking up most mornings and starting my day with light dumbbell workouts and cardio (which basically entails dancing). I've really loved it and feels like it gives me such a mental boost to my day. I've been trying to increase my steps throughout the day, too. I am hoping I continue to feel fairly normal throughout my pregnancy so I can keep this up. It's been enjoyable to read how you all are incorporating exercise into your pregnancies.
@lzeo I have so many questions for you! I haven't told my instructor yet, I think it'll be fine for a few more weeks. Did you stop sparring right away?

My pace was pretty slow prior to pregnancy (about 9mins). But only 6 weeks in and I'm definitely already above a 10 minute mile. I think morning sickness has a lot to do with it. I'm trying not to get down on myself b/c of it. Remember we are still out there running! That's amazing!
I'd talk to your running partner. Does she know you are pregnant? She might not mind slowing her pace b/c she enjoys the company. Or maybe just meet once a week? So that you don't lose the companionship, but you don't feel like you're holding her back either.

@fancybelmont yes she knows! And glad I'm not alone on the increased pace. I was finally getting to mid 9s and now I'm up to mid 10s feeling like I'm sprinting! She seems to not mind. I just feel bad. I should get over it, I am growing a baby lol
