Re: Randoms Week of 8/21

  • It's my last week at work before we head north for a week of visiting family and I have zero motivation.

  • @gusgus14 With you on the lacking motivation train but without good reason! I'm in academia, and the semester starts a week from today... instead of being motivated with new students coming etc., I'm really just mentally operating on a countdown sort of system. Classes end December 8th, so I am going to more or less count that as my end date (it completely is not but it's the last day I'll be dealing with the nitty gritty of students)... so I just need to make it until then lol.

Also was out Friday and had an out of the office message... did that stop ANYONE from bothering me? No. Just a reminder that I need to set up FIRM and CLEAR boundaries for my maternity leave about who can and cannot contact me and when/why etc.

  • @gusgus14 I'm already checked out of work too. I have a normal day today, then a half day tomorrow followed by our AS then we fly out Wednesday morning. I say, work I have to do that today?
  • The semester starts this week, and this semester I have one physical class I go to on Monday nights... and the first one was cancelled due to a power outage.

Which is fine. I am drained today and was dreading sitting through a three-hour class.
  • That's cute @auntieraindrop I wish our dog was like that, instead he's just more anxious and therefore annoying.
  • I'm in Reno, NV for a week for training. I live in NJ so it was a super long flight to get out here and I had a layover which always annoys me.  I'm lonely. There's about 10 other people here but they're all at the bar drinking and I'm in my room watching Love It Or List It. I miss my family.
  • Here's a random one for you helpful ladies. Talk yoga pants to me. I've never really had a good pair of workout pants. Recently I started going to Zumba so I got a pair of capris off Amazon. I loved the look and fit but they were a little see through and I could totally see my underwear - NMS so I'm returning. Last night I got some at TJ Maxx. They are new balance brand and super soft and comfy but tonight at Zumba while in a good sweat they were itching and annoying! Is this just how yoga pants are? Do I need a different brand/style?
  • @GraceUponGrace09 I love yoga pants! I bought maternity ones too. I only wear all cotton because I have sensitive skin. I usually buy mine at Macy's (style and co), which is where I got the maternity ones too. They've never been see through either.
  • I love Old Navy yoga pants!
  • Has anyone been tent camping with their toddlers? DH and DD are going this weekend and it's supposed to be in the 50s overnight so I'm not sure what to pack for pjs.
  • @GraceUponGrace09 I second the Old Navy reference for yoga pants, also Victoria's Secret as long as they are the shiny type material from VS Sport (the Pink brand is slightly see through) as well as Fabletics!
  • Thanks for the yoga pants suggestions!

@schaze We've been tent camping with toddlers when it gets chilly at night. I would layer them up pretty good. A onsie and socks, long sleeved, footed pjs, sweat pants on top, sweatshirt, hat, etc. It's hard bc at that age you can't swaddle them and it's nearly impossible to get them to stay under their blankets.
Have fun! I love to go camping!
  • @GraceUponGrace09 thanks for the tips! I'm actually not going, I'm staying home and enjoying some me time!
  • @GraceUponGrace09 I live in yoga pants. Highly recommend Zella (Nordstrom or Nordstrom Rack), Lulu (but some of the fabrics are "eh" lately - size up so you don't see through), and Gap (regular and maternity). Athleta also has some good options but read reviews!

For anyone looking, I was also pretty happy with Gap's low rise maternity legging. I think the full panel one is fine for sleeping but probably not enough compression or thickness to wear in public.
  • @schaze, I've recently become experienced at this! Socks, fleece footy PJ's, and a fleece wearable blanket/sleep sack (we have the Halo one) did the trick for us! LO sleeps with a blanket at home, but rarely keeps it on, so when we went camping, I bought the "large" Halo sleep sack, which fits 12-18 months. Worked like a charm, and she stayed toasty all night!
  • Speaking of yoga pants... I've never done yoga, but I'm strongly considering starting some prenatal yoga. There aren't any classes around here, so I would have to just learn on my own from YouTube, etc. Do any of you have any beginners suggestions or anything?
  • @whitta1218 check out Yoga with Adriene on YouTube! I'm not sure how much prenatal yoga she has on there (because I got out of the habit of doing it just before our BFP but need to get back into it). She's got yoga for every ailment, something in life you might be going through, and beginners poses/shows how to do different things within those videos if you need extra help. It's so great not only physically, but mentally as well!
  • @leeeahyo Thanks! I'll check her out! I was just starting to do some at home workouts before my BFP, then slowly quit. Now that I can see my back starting to hurt, and already getting out of breath, I can see that I need to get back into it!
  • @whitta1218 I'm sooo out of breath, too, haha! I live in the middle of nowhere so I tend to stick to at home stuff (in spurts :# ). I initially got into doing Yoga with Adriene because of back pain and a friend recommended her channel to me, it was very helpful!
  • @whitta1218 this is the dvd I bought with DS1 and have used for all my pregnancies; I think if you buy it on amazon it also gives you the streaming version.  Anyway, it's pretty gentle and lots of lovely stretches.

    Baby #4 on the way!
  • @whitta1218 I do prenatal yoga almost every day using youtube videos - this is the one I started out with and it's probably my all time fave, it feels so good!

  • @KatieEl & @ambodt22 - Y'all are the best. Thank you! I'll definitely look into those.
  • So what are the chances that it is acceptable to have a small glass of red wine tonight?! My day has been ridiculous already. Lady that was fired this week decided that today was going to be her last day and my boss is on vacation...awesome.  But since we are federal contractors there is so much "stuff" that needs to be completed for her out-processing and I have to brief the management team as soon as she leaves to dispel the rumor mill. Lovely! Happy Thursday!
  • @missblaze you are my savior lol!
  • @libbberty I totally appreciate that response honestly! The whole discussion really interests me as well.  And I too am from the class of "two glasses please!" Lol.  So I totally see your point there!
  • I am so close to just starting my vacation tomorrow. If I can find the motivation to get a lot of crap done today I really might. I've already cut down to a half day tomorrow but people are really pissing me off this week to the point where even 4 hours seems like too much.
  • @jaclyn0405 I had a half glass of champagne at my wedding. :)
