  • Well, we will have Sausage Jambalaya one night, spaghetti another night, maybe Ribs, hamburger helper and who knows! We have a freezer full and getting another beef in December, so we usually just have a variety of sides on hand and get something out of the freezer the night before!

  • Here's an idea for some of you that need one. Please don't judge that it is not healthy but man oh man is it delicious!!! It's called The All American.

-Open face hamburger bun with hamburger on it (I cut mine in half or slice it like an onion so I have equal part hamburger on each bun.
-Deep fat fry (or oven fry) some fries and pile a whole bunch on your open face burger
-Warm up some nacho cheese (or I used the plain cheese out of the taco aisle in the grocery store) and pour as much as you desire on the yummy fries.
-Top with more shredded cheese, diced up onion, and diced up tomato if desired.

This is the ultimate prego meal in my opinion!!!! I love it and will probably have to make it at some point this week now!

I get the golden curry sauce mix in the Asian section we are definitely not vegetarian so we put some chicken in it, rice, a can of mixed vegetables, corn, and olives. We also put in some honey. It is so good even my picky 2 year old will eat it.

My Indian tacos I actually get the frozen Rhodes bread and start it rising in the morning. It takes 8 hours to rise. (There are faster methods on the bag). When it is risen I cut off a section of the bread and fry it in oil. I leave it till it is golden brown then I flip. Then I just top it with whatever you like on your tacos. I like beef, tomatoes, olives, sour cream, guacamole, and cheese.
  • Pescatarian mama over here. I made a yummy quinoa salad with black beans, black olives, tomatoes, avocado, feta, and walnuts to last me a few days of lunches. I'm having troubles hitting my daily protein goals though. I don't know if I'll be able to stomach protein shakes or gross bars throughout this pregnancy, so any tips on getting an easy protein infusion (like 15-20gm) if I'm running low?
  • @jackiej9673 do you eat eggs? I am not familiar with your diet :#
  • @Jackiej9673 I just want to say your salad sounds amazing. For protein: do you eat canned tuna? Costco has some really great whole white tuna that is delicious and I think less likely to turn someone's stomach. Almonds are a good option. Yogurts and cheeses can be too!

@jackiej9673 There are so many non-meat protein options! Seitan, tofu, edamame, beans, lentils, hummus, non-dairy yogurt, are all on my list. All easy on the go. If you eat eggs and greek yogurt, these are both good too. I think you'd be surprised by some of the protein bars out there now. I just finished a Nugo Dark Chocolate bar, it has 10grams of protein and tastes nothing like a quest bar (if that's what you haven't liked in the past).

@luna8433 I do eat eggs. My personal diet is basically vegetarian + fish (it can be interpreted lots of ways based on). Take it how you will but Howard Stern actually inspired my transition to it 5 years ago
  • @ladythrice I do enjoy tuna. Just hoping I can tolerate fish for the duration, otherwise it starts to get tricky!
  • @sarahkate2233 thanks for the quick list! I especially appreciate the grab n go variety since I'm unlikely to prepare much these days
  • Trying to meal plan here... I've always been fly by the seat of my pants with meals, but with a toddler and pregnancy brain I'm really starting to struggle.  What do you all have for easy lunches? Once it cools down I'll have all the soups to choose from, but thats not appealing for summer time.

  • I generally do leftover salad for lunches, or make a new salad. Throw in a can of whole white chunk tuna. And a cheese stick and I've got a big lunch. I usually have extra fruit to bring too for snacking throughout the day: bananas, apples, grapes, strawberries, blueberries, and cherries we always have on hand.

I'm having a pretty hard time with planning right now because a) nothing sounds good, and b) something that sounds good one day doesn't sound good the next day. So far this week we've eaten:
    Plain bean burritos
    Annie's mac and cheese
    Pad thai

Dinners that sound like I might be able to stomach them:
Spaghetti with fresh tomato basil sauce
    Sweet Potato and Corn Cakes
    https://www.budgetbytes.com/2012/07/sweet-potato-corn-cakes-with-garlic-dipping-sauce/
    Kale-Sweet Potato-Lentil Salad
    https://www.budgetbytes.com/2013/06/wilted-kale-and-lentil-salad/

@dirtyboots As for lunches: I won't even talk about what I've been eating lately. Usually I take leftovers from dinner. If we don't have leftovers, then a big salad, like @ladythrice said - for me it's super important to include enough protein and carbs, so I like to have a piece of toast with cheese, or sliced boiled potatoes, or beans, or hardboiled egg, or quinoa in my salad so I stay full. The Kale-Sweet Potato-Lentil Salad I mentioned above makes a great warm or cold leftover lunch too.
    Edit: wanted to add something.
Editx2: Actually, in trying to find food that remotely sounded good, I ran across this list, most of which appeals to me because it's largely pasta based and includes lots of creamy and/or cheesy things.
