Inspired by this blog post, thought it'd be fun to do here. If you had $1000 to blow on anything, and you cannot use it on something practical like putting it in savings or paying off debt or buying something you *need*, what would you blow it on?
I'd use it for a fancy cabin on an Alaskan cruise with DH. Babymoon! Or maybe a trip with my mom, cuz we haven't done a girls vacation in like 3 or 4 years. Basically, travel haha. And first class tix if it doesn't take up all $1k.
Oh gosh, so long since we've had an extra $100, much less $1000! Haha! But probably patio furniture or a hot tub (except those probably cost way more than that soooo whatevs) or a weekend away with DH since that has literally NEVER happened. Someday!

Oooo two possibilities: 1) travel, finally rent that farmhouse in Tuscany I've wanted to rent for years, or 2) partial season tickets to Pirates games, complete with hotel room downtown for each weekend.

Since this is theoretical, I'm going to be totally selfish and spend it on over the top beauty treatments for myself. Laser facial, or maybe... botox?? (In this fantasy world it wouldn't be harmful for the fetus). I've always wondered about trying Botox but have been too nervous (I obviously wouldn't do it while pregnant or breast feeding).
Definitely would spend it on a getaway for the hubby and I. No kids allowed. (Except for the inside baby) lol We are trying to prioritize finances right now so we rarely go out for date nights and a weekend away isn't even on our radar right now. And, if we didn't blow the whole amount, a new wedding band for my hubby. His broke last year. we both loved it so much but its tungsten and they can't repair it.
We drive about 30 hours home in a week and I think I wouldn't use it to buy a ticket and fly home with myself and my son and my husband can tow the camper! It should be a pretty interesting drive but we are in no rush so that will help with the chaos!
Probably a weekend getaway too. Or if it counts in this scenario and isn't considered too practical, I'd put it towards some of the renovations we're trying to accomplish before the baby comes! Maybe upgrade to nicer bathroom fixtures or tile? That's definitely not too practical, but would be enjoyable.

Yeah I was thinking if I didn't have an experience, I'd get new a new stove and/or countertops, lol. Totally don't need it but it'd be nice. Or maybe upgrade my woefully old shoe collection lol.
I would want an amazing date night in the city. It would be even better if I could drink some wine on the date, but hey. Then we could get a fancy hotel room for the night.
one of those meal things that sends all the ingredients to your house and you just cook it. I hate grocery shopping and planning meals.

Are you in Pittsburgh? Because I am!
I think it would be fun to travel to Asia. I'd like to go to Japan, China, and Thailand especially. I don't think $1000 would cover that whole expedition though
@megandnoodle No, but my husband is from Pittsburgh, as is my dad, and H made me a Pirates fan by talking about them incessantly, so I decided to show an interest rather than be miserable and now we're both avid fans. My in-laws are in Pittsburgh so we go up there a lot! It's a great city!
ETA to clarify which "he" I was referring to.

I would hire a personal assistant - someone who can help tackle my to do list that never seems to end. Even just doing the stupid things like calling around to find a dishwasher repair person or doing store returns.
Someone to clean my house before baby comes! I can never get enough done that late in pregnancy. Whatever is left for grocery delivery after baby... i'm not looking forward to bringing three kids grocery shopping haha
@eggplantface are you from Pittsburgh? DH and I are both from the area. We currently live in DC, but plan to move back after the baby is born to be closer to our families.
If if I had a spare $1000 I would definitely put it toward travel!

I'm in Pittsburgh, originally from MI, but really love the city. And the Pirates are an amazing team to root for; who doesn't like hanging a jolly roger or getting a beautiful city view when you're sitting in a stadium.
@caitb13, @megandnoodle beat me to it! And I'm in the DC area now too! And @megandnoodle I'll admit I stalked your posts because H has a cousin named Megan who I know is TTC, so I was wondering if you were her. But she does not have a great dane

@eggplantface haha! That would be very serendipitous if I were your H's cousin. My name is Maryn actually (like "Karen" with an M). Meg is for one of my furbabies, Megabyte.
If I had $1000 to spare I would put it towards a trip to Germany for DH and I. Both of us really want to go and he has a friend there that he's know a long time that he'd love to finally meet in person.
@megandnoodle and @eggplantface sorry for the confusion, obviously didn't read your posts thoroughly. I'm sad I'm not making it to any Pirates games this summer, it's something I always really enjoy on a nice evening.
@clc515 we are neighbors! We live in Arlington. I usually say D.C. As it's an easy reference point for people unfamiliar with the area. How much are you loving this humidity?? Thank god for AC!
@caitb13 The Pirates are playing the Nats at the end of September! It's the last home games for the Nats, and while the Nats may have clinched a play off spot by then, we might still be in the running for a Wild Card spot! (Hope springs eternal with the Pirates). Nats Stadium isn't as nice as PNC Park, but you do what you gotta do

I think a lot of people address unrealistic about how far $1000 Will go...
Given it's a hypothetical, I think reality is out the window
