What number are you trying for? 2

Cycle/Month? 0/0 (officially trying in 2 weeks)

WTO/TWW? Always WTO

Ages of other child(ren)? 15.5 months

Any thoughts about this cycle? No cycle, but I started charting my CM. I'm going to buy some wondfo OPKs and HPTs in the next few weeks so I can start peeing on stuff.

Any questions? So I'm having almost constantly fertile quality CM. Seems like a good thing, but since I haven't had a post partum cycle, it just leaves me confused. I'm not sure if it means my body is constantly trying to ovulated but never actually doing it, or if it means I'm close to finally having O and getting my cycle back (or catching that first O and getting KU before my first period). So that wasn't a question, but any thoughts?

GTKY: What is the next milestone you are looking forward to from your kiddo/s?
Definitely talking. He only has a few words and I can tell he gets frustrated when he can't communicate what he wants or needs.

Edited because autocorrect and I both need more coffee.

• @lalala2004 - I always hope you catch that first O and don't even get a PP period. But I really have no idea. Could be that your body is gearing up to start O'ing again, and then psyching itself out.

What number are you trying for? 2

Cycle/Month? 1/1

WTO/TWW? TWW

Ages of other child(ren)? Almost 9

Any thoughts about this cycle? Just bleh.

Any questions? Nada

GTKY: What is the next milestone you are looking forward to from your kiddo/s? He started 4th grade this year. I feel like that's a milestone in itself, since there was a point where we weren't sure if he could advance in public school! I'm incredibly thankful for our school district and the amazing faculty/staff there.

WTO/TWW?  WTO

Any thoughts about this cycle?  Last month my cycle was 33 days.  If this month is similar, next week will be when I O, which is good, because we leave for Disney at the end of the week.

Any questions?  None really.  I have been lurking on the boards for the last few weeks so I figured I would comment now.  I only lurked six years ago too.  Hoping to get more into this board now and would love to chat with you ladies!

GTKY: What is the next milestone you are looking forward to from your kiddo/s?  My son is entering 1st grade in a few weeks and will be playing flag football this fall.  He is really looking forward to it.  He has been reading some books this summer and its pretty cute to hear his little voice reading now!
• What number are you trying for? #2

Cycle/Month? 1/1

WTO/TWW? TWW

Ages of other child(ren)? 17 months on Friday!

Any thoughts about this cycle? I didn't realize I had ovulated so late when I got pregnant with DS. Now that I know I ovulate on CD22 I'm suddenly aware of something called Luteal Phase Defect, which is classified as any luteal phase less than 10 days long. Mine is 7 days long so now I'm a bit concerned.

Any questions? Not at this time.

GTKY: What is the next milestone you are looking forward to from your kiddo/s? I wish DS would sleep through the night.

• @lalala2004  I wish I could help, but I never seem to get EWCM, which is frustrating in itself!  Good luck!
@izza2 So glad your DS is doing so well!  And sorry you're feeling bleh.  Hope it gets better  :)
@kgress84  Have fun at Disney!  We've been talking about taking our girls in a few years.
@MLS6212 Sorry to hear about your LP.  And good luck with sleeping through the night!  After having my girls, I totally understand why sleep deprivation is such an effective torture method!

What number are you trying for?  3

Cycle/Month?  5/5

WTO/TWW?  WTO

Ages of other child(ren)? 3 year old twins

Any thoughts about this cycle?  Feeling better, but still not trying to get my hopes up too much

Any questions?  Nope

GTKY: What is the next milestone you are looking forward to from your kiddo/s?  One of our girls had issues with being terrified of going to sleep, so we took the siderail off their convertible cribs and zip tied them together to make one "mega crib", and finally last night took them apart and gave them their "big girl beds".  So I'm hoping it's a smooth transition and that it continues to go as well as it did last night.

Right now we have one of those balance bikes and he scoots around on that, but it will be fun to have him cruising along either during walks or bike rides.

@MLS6212 oh, I meant did you want to share a chart showing your short LP. Do you have one?

EDIT: I guess what I'm asking, is how do you know you have a short LP? Just because you Oed on CD22 this time doesn't necessarily mean you did last time, unless you have a chart showing that.

@lala2004 and @labgrand2012 I used FF in 2015 and that chart also has me ovulating on CD22. It's not a great sample size (2...) but it's really all I have to go off of for the time being. Here's my chart from then.

According to FF I ovulated on CD22 when I got pregnant with my son. When I didn't get my period on time I tested on CD30 and it was negative. Then I spotted for four days and tested again on CD38 at which point it was positive. That makes sense if I ovulated on CD22.

Or am I just confusing myself?

• @MLS6212 based on that information, you have never measured your LP and have no idea how long it is. I would wait and see for this cycle before getting worried! Just because your cycles were a certain length in the past doesn't mean they always will be, and it doesn't mean you ovulated on CD 22 for any of those. You just can't know.

• @mls62112 I think it would be a good idea to start tracking again. My last three cycles I have O'd on day 19, 15 and this cycle was 22. So it is different everytime and this will help you with info and that can then be shared with your Dr. if there does seem to be an issue with LP lenght.

• @lala2004 I'm not super concerned yet. Either FF is wrong and I don't ovulate so late or FF is right and I do ovulate late but somehow it didn't affect my implantation with my first pregnancy. If I don't get pregnant after a few cycles (and still seem to be ovulating late) I will definitely talk to my OB.

Any thoughts about this cycle?  I was really hopeful because our timing is good, but my temps are wonky, so now I am worried.

Any questions? I'll take any CS right now if anyone wants to take a look.  I had a big temp dip today when I first woke up, then I fell back asleep, took my temp when I woke up again, and it was back at 98.06.  Any thoughts?

GTKY: What is the next milestone you are looking forward to from your kiddo/s? I am looking forward to DS being able to write his name.  His preschool teachers said that is going to be their focus this year and he starts on Thursday.

@lalala2004 I tend to have watery CM for patches at various points in my cycle and FF says that is pretty normal.

@izza2 That is so great!  If you don't mind me asking, what was causing you to be concerned about him moving forward?

@kgress84 have fun with your trip!  I am jealous!

@MLS6212 I am still hoping for DS to sleep through the night.  He did for awhile...

@sandbar517 FX for an east transition for you all

@labgrand2012 I think we want to get DS a balance bike for Christmas this year.

This is where I think you are confused about Luteal Phase. It doesn't matter when you ovulate. The only thing that matters is the length of time between O and AF. Your O day could be different every cycle, but LP tends to remain the same length regardless. Because you have never charted a cycle with AF, you have no idea what your LP is. You have no data that shows that.

DS is talking so much more every day! Colors and foods and body parts, oh my. Excited to keep that communication train going! Next milestone is maybe potty training? He likes to sit on it and asks to do so but doesn't know what to do when hes there lol. So who knows when it will happen.

@lalala2004 I think another thread was talking about an abundance of CM recently. I think the short answer is that it's normal. Hopefully that's the case for you! Are you temping yet to verify O?
@kgress84 oh enjoy Disney!!!
@MLS6212 I just commented in TWW about your LP. Have you temped from O to AF yet? Your LP is only determined by AF, not a BFP. For example, my first ever chart is when I got KU with DS so I didn't know my LP. This cycle is my first chart temping this time TTC so I still don't know my LP. Once I get AF (hopefully not ;) ) then I'll actually know my LP. ETA: it took me so long to write my post... I completely agree with what @lalala2004 said!
@sandbar517 interesting "megabed" idea! Hope they transition well!
• @mileswithmyles did you have solid CHs before that temp or no? If it didn't change anything, I would go with the earlier temp.

@cards10 unfortunately I'm not temping because I haven't had a postpartum period. I manually started a chart just to record CM and any other data. When I thought I was getting my first PP AF I did start a chart, but as it turned out I was only spotting. I temped for over 80 days and just got discouraged, so I don't really want to do that again.

• @cards10 I have not yet temped from O to AF. I got pregnant with DS during my first cycle and this is my first cycle with #2. I was trying to avoid coming right out and overtly saying that in the other thread since it's not the TFAS thread. I feel like I've kind of taken over both of these threads and I don't want to be perceived as being insensitive by touting that.

• @mileswithmyles - I'd say don't worry about one outlier temp for now. It could be an ID, it could just be inaccurate. I have a hard time doing this myself, but it's definitely a point where I'd say focus on the bigger picture and try not to dwell on one temp.

Loooong story following.
TL;DR: DSS was having behavioural issues, we were able to provide him with what he needed once we got physical custody, and he's flourished since.

DSS was having major behavioural problems when he lived with his mother and started school. A lot of it stemmed from a sense of insecurity and feeling unwanted. We were only able to have him on weekends, and his bio-mum signed him up for TBall, so half of the time we couldn't even get him that (she lives 1.5 hours away) often. She never told us when/where his games would be, and never considered he could miss a game to visit his father (also never asked DSS), but that's a different story. His bio-mum has another son who's 2? years younger than DSS, and she favours him immensely. It's blatantly obvious that he's her golden child.
When he started school, he had asked his mother for a schedule and some order so that he had set times/orders of doing things (like: come home, eat a snack, do homework, read for 30m, play, etc.). She told him no, and actually ranted to H that he was a "weird child" and "not normal" because he was asking for a schedule.
That escalated in to him acting out at school, hitting/punching/biting faculty and staff, and being sent home by 9/10 o'clock every day. We pleaded with her to let us have custody so we could give him what he needed, and after having to leave work early so many times and threatening getting fired, she finally caved and dropped him at our doorstep the same day she was told she'd be fired.
Over the course of getting him up to date on medical things, and physicals, and just generally asking him what was going on -- we found out he failed three vision exams at his previous school, and his bio-mum was told he needed glasses, but never got him any (or even told us about the failed exams; because we would've paid for the glasses). So he was never able to fully understand what he was looking at when he was in school trying to learn.
His first day at school with us was horrible - I ended up picking him up just before lunch, because he had latched on to his teacher as his security blanket, and freaked out when he had to go to art and she had to leave. He ended up punching/kicking the art teacher because she was trying to stop him from running out of the art room door.
After that, the school was pretty quick to get him assessed for an IEP, get him in to an IEP class room, and get him individualized attention for the things he needed help in (reading, speech, therapy, etc.). The rest of the first year was kind of rocky, but he blossomed immensely, and has done nothing but get even more amazing since then. By the end of that first school year with us, he was pushed out in a "regular" class for gym and did group speech along with individual. His first full year with us he was in a "regular" class for everything, but with a one-on-one aide (whom we adore) just in case.
They never rushed him, they all understood that he was really insecure and wary, and when they had every right to put him in the Boces program (which is where other schools send their unruly kids, instead of trying to work with them to overcome their problems -- they do schooling, but they're not taught self-restraint or really allowed to grow as a person), they instead worked with him and did everything they could to keep him at school.

Holy wow, that was a lot longer than I thought it would be :grimace:

Ages of other child(ren)? DS turns 2 in 11 days! ***TW*** This is our second go around TTC #2, I sadly had a MMC in March.

Any thoughts about this cycle? I have no idea about what's going on. I O'd a few days late, but AF is now 7 days late but all my tests have either been negative or a "maybe that was positive or maybe I'm making it up in my head" result. I've had no AF symptoms, other than a small amount of cramping the morning of 12 dpo. I'll wait another week then go to my dr. We sadly only have a finite amount of time to TTC before DH is gone again, so I can't wait 2 months to get my (typically regular) cycle back.

Any questions?

GTKY: What is the next milestone you are looking forward to from your kiddo/s?
Mostly enjoying him interacting with the world around him. He is starting to form sentences and is really into imaginative play and mimicking. It's all so fun!

@MLS6212 my mother has a doctor diagnosed luteal phase defect and never had any trouble getting PG.  **TW**Unfortunately she lost 3 PG's between 11-13 wks before she was diagnosed because she didn't have enough progesterone to maintain the PG until the placenta kicked in. After diagnosis, she was given progesterone for the first 14 weeks and went on to have 2 more perfectly healthy PG. When you do get PG (hopefully soon), you could just mention your concern of having a short luteal phase to your OB and go from there.

• @izza2 I'm so glad your SS has made progress. When I see students like that I confess to thinking they could be a lost cause because their circumstances are unlikely to change, so I'm so glad that wasn't true for him.

@pumpkinpancake I'm so sorry for your loss.

• @izza2 your poor DSS!  I'm so glad he had a team of people to get him what he needed to make progress! As a special education teacher, it warms my heart to hear that he's doing so well now.  thanks for being willing to share about him.

@MrsBunz  DS's imagination has taken off the last year and it's such a fun part of this age. We play pretend all the time and I love it!

@pumpkinpancake  I'm so sorry for your loss.

• @izza2 Wow, so sad that a mother could be like that to her own child.  I'm so glad DSS has such a warm and loving relationship with a stepmom like you, and that he's doing so well!

• @MLS6212 re the LP, as long as you put a *TW* disclaimer it's ok to mention previous pregnancies if it's relevant to TTC. Explaining that you've temped but haven't been able to determine LP bc of pg is ok. I'm in the exact same boat right now actually. You aren't being insensitive and it's respectful that you kept others here in mind :) I just think without that info, you had some ladies responding trying to help that were missing a key piece of info. Now you know what to look for if this isn't your cycle. But FX for you!

@MrsBunz I'm so sorry for your loss :( do you plan to keep testing until you go to your dr? Did you confirm O with temping?

@pumpkinpancake you're very welcome on TFAS! Sorry to hear of your loss :( Hopefully your stay is short once you get off the bench.

What number are you trying for? 3

Cycle/Month? 0/0 starting next cycle, but trying to get to know the wonderful ladies here.

WTO/TWW? Should be TWW, will start temping next cycle.

Ages of other child(ren)? DS turned 2 just over a week ago, and DD will be 9 months on Friday.

Any thoughts about this cycle? I'm a bit bugged. I understand that you are regular until you aren't, but that isn't helping me stay calm when I'm 2 days 'late' this round. I need to temp again, so I don't flip out over nothing.

Any questions? Has anyone ever had a kid/sibling/friend/friend's kid do an ABR? It's a hearing thing where they will knock DS out and use some massive headphones to see what frequencies he can actually hear. I'm seriously worried that he will need a hearing aide or cochlear(sp?) implant.

GTKY: What is the next milestone you are looking forward to from your kiddo/s? Well hopefully his hearing will pickup, either on it's own or with an aid, so that we get more recognizable words. It's frustrating for both of us when he wants/needs something and I can't understand his garbled words.

edit: trying to remember how to get spacing on mobile.

• @princesslockness welcome!  I can't imagine how frustrating that is for both him and you.  Do you do ASL with him?  I've gotten to learn a lot of really interesting and helpful things about ASL, cochlear implants, hearing aids, etc from working with some ASL teachers. I haven't heard of an ABR before, but from Google, it seems like it would help give you information about his hearing range.

@princesslockness we had to do several hearing tests with my son at the ENT before and after he had his tubes placed. They were able to tell which frequencies he could hear with some fancy machine that measured the frequencies as they bounced back (or some other voodoo magic) which sounds similar to the ABR, but he didn't have to be sedated.  They put the sensor inside his ear canal. It looked like a fancy ear plug with a wire coming out. I'm not sure of this helps at all. I'm sorry for the stress of the unknown and testing. Hugs.

@mileswithmyles I haven't. He knows some basics from his daycare, I just haven't ever been able to get him to sign at home. I'm not worried about the test so much, it's the outcomes. Like how will I (as a middle school teacher) be able to get him the help he needs, how would I start getting him into speech/therapy, if he doesn't qualify for SS or Disability how will I ever afford to help him? That is what scares me. I guess I'm just a huge worrier.

@spottedginger we do that test, the OEA maybe? The ENT says 'there are so many things that can cause it to be off, BUT since he hasn't passed any of the 5 times we need to move forward.' I think he has to be sedated as he is so young and is basically a ball of kinetic energy. I'm just having some mama panic about it. I think if they would give me some stats or a place to read up on possible results and their next steps it would help. His doc just says don't worry about it, it's 2 months away.

• @princesslockness huge, huge hugs to you.  FWIW, if he is diagnosed with some level of Deafness or being hard of hearing, he could qualify for services through school at no cost to you starting at the age of three.  Before he turns three, you can ask for an eval through your pediatrician for speech therapy, but maybe that is why they want to do the ABR so they can determine the best course of action for him.  I'm a teacher (special education), also, and I can relate to the worries about having the time and resources.
• @princesslockness gotcha. The holding still part is hard at that age. I'm sorry it is two months out and you have to worry and anticipate for so long. DS was under anesthesia at 13 months for the tubes. It was nerve wracking but they do such a great and careful job with the babies.
• @mileswithmyles @spottedginger Thanks ladies! His doctor is awesome with him, and he is really good at sitting still while they are checking him out. Miles, do you have links handy of good ASL resources? It wouldn't hurt to get the whole family to know it regardless of his test.
