IVF Trigger side effects?? Anyone???

Hi Folks,

This is not my first ER (6th in fact) however this is the first time that i'm not feeling so great after taking the trigeer shot. Noveral 10,000 units. Could I really be having an allergic reaction to it all of a sudden. having this strange tightness in my left hand and its very tender in one area, feeling super bruised. Dr google says its a reaction. Anyone else experience this? I'm not one to run to hospitals at all. How concerned to I need to be??

Any input is appreciated!!

Hi hun sorry your feeling like that. I finished my trigger and the only side effect I had was I was itching around the injection site and a lot of bruising. I used ice before and after and it went away

thanks for the input!! The strange thing is I did do it in my butt cheek and my arm and leg are bothering me... hoping this feeling is just temporary!

Oh wow. I'm doing the PIO and boy oh boy the actual shot isn't that bad. However, afterwards my legs ache really bad

@hopeful_mom I didn't realize you did the trigger in the butt. If that's the case, you probably hit a nerve. Both my upper outer thighs are numb from the PIO injections I've done 5 months ago! It's much better now. But still not 100%.

So my guess is that you hit a nerve. The arm and the leg are the same side you did the injection at?

prudence9-2 did the injection on the right butt cheek and have the sensations on the left. I used a 20 gauge instead of 22 I think. This time they didn't send the needles with the trigger so I used what I had...not sure if thats an issue...even though I didn't see anything.
My clinic still hasn't responded which is unlike them. Just hoping that it starts to go away soon! I'm more concerned that it shouldn't cause a problem for my ER. Maybe we did hit a nerve it did hurt this time around too.

@Hopeful_mom yikes! The 20 gauge is thick!!! And I'm not sure where nerves go. But it might be that nerve on the right butt goes to the left side of the body. Not sure

prudence9-2 nurse never called and the dr did instead and said i should go to the hospital...r they kidding me!! Maybe its a blood clot and he's just not sure. UGH!!! Obviously I have no desire to go...not sure what to do...

Blood clots can be fatal...if doctor says go I wouldn't question it!

@Hopeful_mom- oh no! If the doctor thinks you should go to the hospital, I think you should just in case! Hope it is nothing.

thanks so much for the input ladies - yes I maybe should've gone to the hospital but I did not and thank g-d I'm still here

Blood clots can be fatal I just didn't think that was the issue. My other Dr does believe that I am having an allergic reaction for whatever reason but the fact that its getting better and not worse means I should be fine AND more importantly it should NOT cause an issue for ER tomorrow...and lets be honest thats the main concern here.

Crazy that I've taken this shot 5x already and all good, yet this time there was an issue. It definitely feels off but at least not as intense as last night and its only in my hand and arm and not my leg. Always gotta worry about something!

I am really sorry, and I feel for you because of the way you feel. Of course, there many women who have experienced itching and a little of pain at their butt or the leg after receiving a jab. There are also cases where women experience numbness in the in the limbs after receiving the jab. However, these are just some of the symptoms of the trigger which I think should go away on its own. The trigger shot plays a crucial role in sending the egg into a creative division process referred to as meiosis. This is a normal reproductive process which we do not expect to have a big impact. So I suggest that if you are not feeling great, you may have to visit a doc so that further tests can be conducted to establish the cause of the problem.

If you had the trigger in the limbs, it is also possible that a nerve was hit. This may cause numbness, and you will not feel great. Consider seeing a medic so that you get advised on how the problem could be solved.
