Since getting pregnant my goal is to hit the gym M/W/F/SA. Instead of 6 days a week. I started strong on Monday, went back to bed Wednesday when my friend texted she wasn't going to the gym, and pretended not to hear my alarm go off this morning . ....oops
I made it M/W/R/F so far this week. And Tuesday I did enough around the house that I considered it a workout. Now that Ive hit 2nd tri and am feeling a lot better I am getting to the gym easier and being more successful in general at life.
I am 12 weeks this week... My goal for this pregnancy is to do some form of cardio every day (run/ walk/ indoor bike/ swim), and body weight exercises three days/ week. I also want to start a short PM yoga routine before bed (which I also did when I was pregnant with #1). The past two weeks have been a total fail (I blame the heat), but this week I've managed to run 2x, walked around at the zoo all day yesterday with DD, and have done 1 body weight circuit so far. And I forgot how much I enjoyed my yoga routine! And how much better it makes me feel before bed!
I actually bought a new fitness journal as motivation... using it instead of a pregnancy journal (tracking symptoms/ mood/ food/ cravings/ bump pictures in addition to workouts).
Struggled to even click on this, who's fitness? Ha ha No but really, need to head back to the gym or at least go for walks but most days I would rather just eat and sleep lol I will try eventually I have faith We can do it!
I really need to start doing some form of exercise again, even if it is just walking. I am just super nervous to. I have been getting so dizzy, but never fell over or anything. I fear that I go for a walk alone and I fall. I am also scared to go on a treadmill that I will fall and get hurt from the belt moving. Is this just something I should rip the bandaid off and go for it? I am sure I will feel better about it after I am successful, but I just have so much anxiety about it.
I was very lucky throughout the first trimester... I at the least would work out twice a week and at the most 5 days. I think the key is just listening to my body, and making sure it's actual fatigue and not just my laziness that's stopping me from going. I've been doing a combo of yoga, running, and body weight movements (squats, lunges etc).
I would LOVE to work out the entire pregnancy, especially since I feel like I gained more than average during the first trimester (7.5 lbs?! Isn't it supposed to be no more than 5?! Or I'm overthinking it )
Today is a new week, or at least I'm telling myself that. I took 3 weeks of due to feeling like garbage but I am beginning to feel more normal, despite the pulling this morning so I plan on working out tonight. I got a pregnancy workout video from the library and am thinking of trying it tonight

@stephbp2007 I also gained what I consider too much first tri considering I lost ten lbs with my other two pregnancies. My doctor said it should curve off and bot to be concerned. I am concerned of course bc with working out 3-6 times a week I shouldn't be gaining so rapidly. But I'm goi g to take his word for it and hope it slows.
@stephbp2007@smorzandoj With my first pregnancy, I gained all my weight up-front and then tapered to the end. The same thing seems to be happening with this pregnancy, too. I'm 12 weeks and have gained a little over 10 lbs! My appetite seems to be getting back to normal now... I hope.
13 weeks and I have done nothing for over a month now..... it's embarrassing. Although as a small excuse we are moving at the end of this month and I am struggling to balance regular household duties, my 2 year old, my 4 month old and packing.... it feels like I have no time but I'm going to try and buckle down to get a work out in every other day this week and then after the move get back to at least 5 days a week. My second pregnancy was so much better than my first (plus labour was super fast and awesome) and I'm pretty convinced its because I stayed active. i really want to try and repeat that.
major high fives and admiration to you ladies who have pushed through and worked out through the first trimester. You are my inspiration!!
@katefb17 Thank you! Now I don't feel bad about my 12lb weight gain. I've gotten my appetite back to normal in the past two weeks (I'm 13w) and have been tracking my intake versus what I'm putting out so hopefully I taper off.
@platanogal My exhaustion during yoga various on the day. This week Monday and a Wednesday which are intense classes that make me drip with sweat I was good. But Friday which is a slower class and less strenuous I was dropping out of a lot of poses. That being said I did a killer upper body workout Thursday which may have contributed to my inability to hold much. Just listen to your body. There is nothing wrong with dropping into child's pose or downward dog or happy baby if you need.
thanks for the reassurance. I'm pretty tough on myself, and frustrated that I started the pregnancy 10 lbs up from my average weight... so it's been a tough pill to swallow. But I set weekly goals for myself and I'm hoping as long as I keep moving what you say is true and I'll average out in the end. I just want to stay in the healthy weight gain range!
@julievdm12 Oh my gosh!! You have so much going on!!! I'd say chasing a 2 year old, caring for a 4 month old, and packing are their own special kind of workout! Don't beat yourself up, you will get back into a routine once you're settled in your new place
I totally agree about staying active helping with labor. My first was really long, but I was able to keep my energy up and pushing was super short! (but maybe that was just my daughter's hard head )

Thanks! It's pretty nuts around here that's for sure. Thanks for the encouragement. I am determined to get back into routine at least once we move but maybe sooner..... I'll see. Lol so.....tired.....
I am 12+3 today (was away camping for the long weekend so this is late!). I am really wanting to get into some form of exercise now that I'm getting closer to the second trimester! I'm really trying to find some motivation! I was doing fairly well with getting my exercise in and the past 2 months I have been too exhausted and nauseas to even think about it!
I'm impressed by everyone who made it to the gym in first tri! I was hoping to keep going, especially to my HIIT class, but at 6 weeks the nausea and fatigue put me on my ass. The last time I worked out was back on July 3, and after that I got dizzy and nauseated, worse than usual. So I took a break. I'm 12+4 now and am going to try to make it to the HIIT class today because I feel much better than I used to.
FFTC: One of my coworkers told me when she worked out while visibly pregnant she got a lot of dirty looks and, of course, unsolicited advice/questions from mostly men about whether she should be doing that. I'm kind of excited to be snarky to them about being idiots. If that happens. It might not. But I'll be ready.

I'm glad this thread exists! its good to have the motivation and support to keep (attempting to) exercise. i also did zero workouts in my first trimester, with the exception of walks. I was too tired, nauseated and overall out of it to exercise. Also, with a history of miscarriage, I was terrified to even MOVE too much!
Now, since about week 11-12 (so ~3 weeks ago) I've committed to doing roughly 30 min a day of exercise , along with a couple long walks each week. Basically, I do 15-20 minutes of barre style moves ( all online , seearch YouTube for prenatal barre/ballet) and then I do 10-15 minutes of deep stretch and some yoga poses.
i have seen SUCH a reduction in mid/low back pain and I swear this basic routine has given me back a tiny bit of energy. I'm a FTM but my sister is built very much like me and had awful, terrible hip and back pain in her 3rd trimester with all of her kids. I'm hellbent on keeping my hips flexible and trying to prevent too much late pregnancy pain and tension. I know nothing can totally prevent it , but after watching her suffer I'm motivated to stay limber!
btw -- remind me I said this when winter rolls around and I just want to stay in my warm bed eating soup and cookies!
OMG I completely understand. Before I found out that I was having a baby, I jogged 3 miles every morning before work. Now I can barely get out of bed on time for work. Lol.
I've been great about daily walks (having a dog helps a ton with that!), but I haven't been to the gym (for weights) in 2 weeks. My gym buddy has been off work for 1 of those weeks, but I really have no excuse.
I did park at the end of the mall today to go to the food court for tater tots! I'm considering that a win.
I've been once this week. I had to work Monday and Tuesday and it resulted in my spine/nerves being thrown out of whack so I took those days off. I did yoga Wednesday and took the kids to six flags yesterday. Today. Admittedly I was just too freaking lazy. Maybe tommorow...but the kids have weapons club in the morning for karate...so...maybe not.
Im so proud of all you ladies who even attempted exercise in first trimester. For about 6 weeks straight I worked, came home, and went to sleep until I had to get up and do it again.
i have a little more energy now. Took the dogs for a walk tonight and it was so nice. However, my hips already hurt so I HAVE to do some strengthening soon. Maybe starting Monday.
