Baby Names

Sister for Zachary

I'm totally lost trying to come up with a name for our baby girl due in December. DS is Zachary Stephen. Let's pretend our last name is Heinz.

Names I really like that are out:
Eliza (favorite, DH vetoed)
Hazel (sounds ridiculous with our last name)
Amelia (too popular)

Names I like but don't love:
Isla
Abigail
Lila
Alana

Names DH likes:
It'd be easier to convince him to get an elective colonoscopy than to discuss baby names.

Any and all suggestions are welcome!

    Ruby
    Clara
    Cora
    Fiona
    Bridget
    Phoebe
    Genevieve
    Lucy

  • @JMU_Bride09 Thank you! I like Lena a lot too, I forgot about that name.

@mb0112 Thanks! I have Genevieve on my long list, but am scared it's too much name for a little girl. I'll leave it on because it's really pretty!
  • That little girl will grow into a woman eventually, so don't be afraid of Genevieve just for that. In the meantime you could nn her Ginny, Jenny, ViVi, or something completely unrelated to her given name (for instance, I'm calling my girl Pudding almost as often as her given name while she is in her soft, pudgy infant stage). Genevieve is absolutely beautiful.

    Also suggesting:

    Angeline
    Celeste
    Delia
    Ginevra
    Helene
    Justine
    Liliana
    Selene
    Seraphina
  • Good point @FelicitousJinx! I know that in theory, it's just a stumbling point for me when naming this little one. Thank you for the suggestions; I love Celeste, Delia, and Selene (or Selena.) I'll add them to my list for sure!
  • Yes I agree Genevieve seems a lot for a baby but I like the nn options above!  If your last name is short it balances nicely too.  Adding

    Alice
    Alicia
    Beatrix/Beatrice
    Noelle
    Iris
    Cecilia
    Joselyn
    Delilah

  • My brother is Zachary and my name is Sara ;-)

Love Hazel! Too bad it sounds ridiculous with your surname!

I know a Genevieve who is now about 8 years old.  They don't use a nickname for her at all.  She's always just gone by Genevieve.  I have always admired this family's naming choice and thought it was a lovely, traditional name that's both strong and feminine.  I wouldn't hesitate to use it.
