I'm not a fan of the Ultrasounds thread. I like my own but don't have to see everyone else's. I keep opening the thread so the "new" notification will go away. Sorry, not sorry.
@ollydolly I don't like the idea of a party, but I can get down with any reason to have cake. bahah..
We did a reveal with just us to share with our family and friends across the country, we used a beer bottle that we painted white and the food coloring of of blue or pink mixed with Zima (ick), and poured it into a glass that said "It's a...". DH liked the idea of sharing what we were having that way, especially since he's really into homebrewing beer.
supercoolstephy that sounds like a picture you sent out? Cute. I think I remember it from the announcements thread (also because the only thing I am really craving is a frosty beer right now...sigh). I'm totally cool with finding out sex (and can't wait to find out what this LO is) but it's the whole gender binary of some of these parties and the craziness around it that I can't really get behind.
We are currently taking bets with our family/friends with proceeds going to a college fund, because by the time 2036 rolls around tuition is going to be a bajillion (real number) dollars.
@missblaze I'm sure there probably are some beautiful ones, just not my thing at all. I already feel like a whale, let's take off my clothes and photograph it, haha no.
Lol @ryannenikole I can't say I've seen one of those but I believe you
@burnsmommy27 I hear you. The ones I appreciate are generally black and white and have great use of lighting. I like stuff like that. But nothing obscene.
For whatever reason those, coupled with the advertisement videos that pop up on the right, no longer get along with Safari. It is painfully slow. I downloaded Firefox, but it's only a bit better. It's definitely limiting how much time I bother with TB.
@BelhurstBride Have you used Google Chrome? I used to only use Safari and Firefox but find Chrome MUCH better in all respects... but it took me a long time to convert, lol. I'm not sure that would help, but I use it and it loads very quickly.
I'm annoyed at having to download all this stuff. I've been using TB for a long time now- on this same exact computer even- and it's only recently become a problem. (In the past month or two.) And TB is the only website causing me problems.
@auntieraindrop some days I want to nap in the mother's room. I feel like since I was the one who had them make it, and then didn't get to use it because DS was formula fed, that I should get some use out of it. haha
I feel like this has come up in some ways, but omg I am having a hard time liking little boys clothes And I so want to... I also don't like the princess/girly-girl things for girls, but I just like so many girls clothes more. I need to get in line folks! I'm thinking maybe I just need to find new venues... like I love Target for DD's clothes, but am REALLY not liking a lot of the boys things there. So UO: I don't like little boys' clothes (but PLEASE prove me wrong, ladies!).
@EmilyLove25 I have the opposite problem! I love the boys clothes but can't stand 95% of the girl's stuff. I like the boys clothes that look like men's clothes, like flannel and jeans and polos. But I also like the little boys overalls, so cute!
@gilsam1 Ok... you are giving me hope. I hate the jeans but do like the polos. With girls, you should look into the leggings/tunic combos. Just beyond cute.
@EmilyLove25 I'm trying to find something to say to defend boy clothes and I'm coming up with nothing. I bought almost all of DS's clothes for the first year+ from Facebook BST groups. $30-50 for a jumbo diaper box of clothes. They're still in my attic, I guess if this one is a girl I'll have to turn around and resell it all. A few of my favorites were a pair of bluejeans, a plaid fleece jacket, footie pants with "shoes" on the toes - stuff to look like a tiny grownup - and of course hats with ears. That said I'm really digging the Cat & Jack stuff at Target right now.
My UO, which is inspired by a lot of people's responses on the book thread, is I've no interest in anything Harry Potter. Never read one of the books and never seen more than 5 minutes of one of the movies. Just not into it at all.
@EmilyLove25 We rock a lot of t-shirts in our house. I love a good pair of jeans with a t-shirt. I bought a lot of super cute button downs for him but I never put him in them, not because they were too fancy but because I preferred t-shirts to them. So now I stock up on t-shirts from The Children's place and Carters for him. I love the Winter/Fall clothes from TCP more than anywhere for him. There are a ton of speciality instagram stores you could shop too but DS grew so freaking fast that he outgrew everything. We've been in 2Ts since January and I just stocked up during TCPs 60% sale 2 weeks ago and set him up for the rest of the year... until I find more things cause I love shopping.
@EmilyLove25 I totally agree. I tend to like little boys dressed like little men. But it super impractical for a baby. I do cringe everytime I see my nephew in a onsie that says something like "mommy's first mate"
@EmilyLove25 It's cute but I'd prefer if there were no characters or words on it. At least it's not pink which is my biggest struggle! If we have a daughter I'd like to dress her in a similar style as I wear, which is mostly neutral pants or jeans and shirts wth cardigans or sweaters. I don't really wear bright colors and i don't own anything with characters or words on it. Maybe I'm just super weird, but that's what i think is cutest, when they look like little adults, and i swear i wouldn't try to make her into a mini me! Oh, and I saw the cutest little boy at work the other day wearing a polo shirt and plaid shorts. He looked like a golfer! Soooo cute
@EmilyLove25 one of my biggest fears when I found out my first was a boy was that I would not enjoy shopping for him at all. I was so wrong!! Boys clothes can be so cute! I've stocked up on cat and jack at target since he was a toddler every time I've gone to the states (I live in Canada) and I second old navy. I also love Joe Fresh but not sure how available it is in the states. I too prefer to dress him like a little man - but not stiff or uncomfortable stuff. I swear by Walmart jeans to be honest, as their skinny jeans are soft and stretchy and I hate the baggy style boys jeans. And I do once upon a child or Facebook BST groups for one off items like jean jackets etc. Now I fear if this one is a girl I'll have a hard time because I am not a fan of super pink and frilly and princess-y!
Okay. So. Not at anyone, but my UO is: I can't be the only person who feels so out of place on The Bump, in these forums? Like. These forums are hard to be on. That's phrased more like an UO.
Some of that is generic social anxiety (yo, i'm a general mess but i'm cool with it), and some of it is generally feeling out of place as a pregnant woman. (I'll be straight: as a fat woman, participating in the bump thread is an internal challenge. As a person living paycheck to paycheck, the consumerism surrounding pregnancy in general bewilders me. Shit like that.)
But some of it is just... I don't give a shit about so many things people seem to care about. I tend to feel like the lone one on the things that I do care about. My sense of humor is dry and weird. I'm struggling to find things in common with people, through no fault of anyone's. Y'all are perfectly nice. I often enjoy my interactions on the board. But I frequently just feel very out of place.
I'm not leaving or anything, lol. I don't have anyone to talk to about pregnancy and I think I might be the most vocally argumentative person here.
@scatteringashes I often feel a bit out of place. Most of the time a large majority of the ladies disagree with my point of view. But like you I don't have any pregnant friends and few female friends so I stick around and participate anyways.
Believe me I had a much different UO for today but just didn't have it in me to battle out my point of view today so I shared something else.

Here, it's so NICE. Which is, you know, nice. But I miss the snark and edge of my first group.
