Re: Wednesday Ticker Change - 8/2

  • 1) How far along are you? How big is baby? 22 weeks, a coconut or papaya

    2) How are you feeling? Any cravings? Feeling great except for the constant peeing. Even after I go, I feel the urge to go again like 3 seconds later. My appetite is pretty big lately and I'm not really craving anything specific, just eating a lot more than normal.

    3) Do you know baby's sex? Have you started showing?
It's a girl! And yes for sure showing. I actually had on a sundress this morning for work and my bump has made the dress just a bit too short for the office, so that was out. It's getting harder and harder to dress in the morning.

    4) Any appointments this week/last? Just a little check-up next Tues.

    5) Rants/Raves/Questions? Anyone else getting sunburned more easily? I got fried after a few hours at the beach this weekend even though I had sunscreen on and reapplied. I have heard that pregnant women get sunburned easier than others, so I'm wondering if there's truth to that.

    6) GTKY: Describe your perfect day. Sleep in on a Fall Saturday morning with no distractions from DH, my dog, landscapers, bright sunny light coming in, etc. Eat a bagel with cream cheese for breakfast and watch mindless TV.  Take an epic shower where I use all my good bath products, do a good job shaving my legs lol. Take time after showering to moisturize, maybe do a face mask, do a good job with makeup and hair. Go out to lunch with DH. Do something fall-y in afternoon like apple picking or pumpkin carving. See a few friends for a happy hour drink. Make dinner at home and cozy up on the couch with a great movie and a bottle of red wine.

  • 1) How far along are you? How big is baby?  22 weeks.  A coconut.

    2) How are you feeling? Any cravings?  I feel pretty good.  Last week was rough.  Just emotionally having days where I feel totally overwhelmed and a little disconnected.  This week I feel a little excited and not too scared so I'm trying to go with it but not beat myself up too much when I don't feel that way.

    3) Do you know baby's sex? Have you started showing?
We are having a boy!  I am starting to feel excited about that.  I think I wanted a girl but never really said it outloud so I kind of privately grieved a bit after the ultrasound and now I can prepare for this new adventure.

    4) Any appointments this week/last? Nope, another ultrasound to check heart on August 17th so waiting impatiently until then.

    5) Rants/Raves/Questions?  My sisters are overwhelming me with name suggestions by Facebook messenger everyday.  I need a nice way to tell them that emotionally I need a little break from that right now.

    6) GTKY: Describe your perfect day.  Pajamas, book and a hot tub.  Company is optional.  :)

  • @peachy13 I think it's true about sunburns.  I lathered up like 15 times a day when we were on vacation last week.  I've been super sensitive all summer!

  • @peachy13 you might benefit from seeing a pelvic floor physical therapist! It may not be baby causing your bladder issues!

    1) How far along are you? How big is baby? 21 weeks, Endive? Apparently?

    2) How are you feeling? Any cravings? Great! Just tired, but I think that will be my new normal. Abruptly over my butter+PB+J toast. Now I'm onto plain cheerios with banana sliced up in it!

    3) Do you know baby's sex? Have you started showing? Girl, yup

    4) Any appointments this week/last? repeat US last week to get head measurements, midwife appointment next week to get the results!

    5) Rants/Raves/Questions? I ordered a bunch of stuff from Old Navy the other day for baby and DS. I am SO excited for it to arrive and make having a baby girl feel real! I can feel the nesting urge HARDCORE and it's really hard to not try to get EVERYTHING ready, but we dont have any furniture or anything yet and DH is not much for preparing ahead of time so it's a little early for him. But I just want to DO it!

    6) GTKY: Describe your perfect day
This is a hard one, but it would probably be a Christmas morning, at my house with tonnes of family. A big breakfast prepared the night before and served before opening presents all morning in front of a roaring fireplace while fresh snow falls outside. Then an afternoon spent outside playing in the snow, sledding or skating. Then return home to prepare and eat a big turkey dinner and an evening spent playing card or board games over Christmas beverages with tonnes of treats and desserts.

    1) How far along are you
    ? How big is baby? 22 weeks/coconut

    2) How are you feeling? Any cravings? Tired (but that's probably a side effect of chasing around my 18 month old!). Currently craving ice cold fruit, fountain soda, and boston kreme donuts...I'm hoping the first craving cancels out the last two.

    3) Do you know baby's sex? Have you started showing?
Another girl! DD is a January baby, so I'm pretty excited that I don't have to buy any clothes because all the ones I have from her will fall into the same seasons. And I feel like I've gotten GIANT in the past 3/4 weeks! I don't think I was this big with my last pregnancy until after 7 months  :s

    4) Any appointments this week/last? Monthly appt next week, but I'm counting down the days til my appt at 27 weeks as they are doing another ultrasound to check the status of my complete placenta previa.

    5) Rants/Raves/Questions? My placenta previa diagnosis has me SO stressed out and has amped up my anxiety to crazy levels. I know its still early and most do move, but my practice had a few of the doctors check out my last scans and they all agreed that movement is not likely.

    6) GTKY: Describe your perfect day. The beach, sunshine, and a good book!

@kvacmak we just started getting the ball rolling with furnishing the baby's room. I feel like it miiight be a smidge early, but I am a huge planner person and would rather have things done in advance that wait until the last minute. Also DH's business gets crazy busy at the end of October, and I have two major weddings in Sept that I'm in, so I kind of want to just start doing it now.

FWIW, Babies R Us is having their summer sale which ends tomorrow. We just bought our crib: https://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=101909076&cp=2255957.2273443.2256245.3252292.3250660&parentPage=family

  • 1) How far along are you? How big is baby? Officially halfway! 20 weeks

    2) How are you feeling? Any cravings? No cravings. Feeling mostly myself but devastated that I am missing that second trimester energy I had with DS.

    3) Do you know baby's sex? Have you started showing?
Baby girl! I am showing, but not really enough for others to notice unless I wear super formfitting clothes.

    4) Any appointments this week/last? Anatomy scan is on Friday. I had an appointment with my OB last week - negative on neural tube defects and Spina Bifida (sp?) so that was a relief.

    5) Rants/Raves/Questions? I am thoroughly disappointed that I am feeling like I am running on empty 24/7. My house is messy constantly and borderline gross, I feel like I am not giving my son enough attention and that he has watched way too much TV lately and my poor DH is more than happy to pick up the slack, but we both work full-time (him way harder than me) so I hate putting that extra burden on him. Plus DS has been teething constantly so he's got nasty poops that make me gag, the acid-y diaper rash that comes with that and of course the continuous whining with which I have been awful about causing me to feel like a shit parent. This kid is nearly 1.5 and still only has four teeth. FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS HOLY, TEETHING GODS - PLEASE LET MY KID CUT SOME DAMN TEETH. I miss my funny, sweet, easy little boy!!

    6) GTKY: Describe your perfect day. I am stealing kvacmak 's perfect day because that sounds pretty darn good. Throw in a movie and a nap, though.

  • 1) How far along are you? How big is baby? 20 weeks woo-hoo

    2) How are you feeling? Any cravings? feel pretty good. No real cravings lately

    3) Do you know baby's sex? Have you started showing?
Nope, and I think so. It depends on the outfit and if I am wearing my support belt--it lifts things up so my bump seems more obvious

    4) Any appointments this week/last? A/S tomorrow--so excited

    5) Rants/Raves/Questions? DD is adjusting well to the one-year old room so far! She's just in there for a few hours a day so far; she'll be fulltime next week. But, her teachers say she is happy. She apparently cried for a few minutes when they brought her over yesterday, but got over it pretty quickly when her teacher left. Tomorrow she turns 1!

    6) GTKY: Describe your perfect day. First, I would get to SLEEP IN. DH would take care of DD, the dog, and the cat without being asked. Ideally, it would be a fall or spring day so we could go outside. Maybe take DD on a picnic and take the dog for a walk. Then, we'd get a sitter, so DH and I could go out to dinner and see a movie or go dancing (we never go dancing anymore, but I used to be a pretty active swing dancer before we got married)

@peachy13 I haven't noticed more sunburn, but I haven't been in the sun that much lately. One other thing to check is how old is your suncreen?

@kvacmak sounds like a great day!

@andipandicWed121369 Totally normal to have ups and downs. I definitely had moments when pregnant with DD where I was anxious and unsure and even sad that it wouldn't be just DH and I anymore. It's a big change! Feel all the feelings and know you still love your baby and it is ok. With this one, it's mostly been guilt that DD is still so young and will never remember the time when it was just her and us. I think I've gotten over that, though.

    1) How far along are you? How big is baby? 20 weeks half baked! A paper airplane!
    2) How are you feeling? Any cravings? feel good. No Cravings

    3) Do you know baby's sex? Have you started showing?
A girl! My friends can tell I'm showing... but acquaintances and strangers no.. They are always shocked at how far along I am because I'm "not showing"

    4) Any appointments?

A/S scan. Baby girl looks great! Found out I have placenta previa. Going to see a specialist on Friday to find out more and get some more photos of baby's heart since she was all curled up. Put on pelvic rest for now.

    5) Rave: Can't wait for my gender reveal party on Sunday!

    6) Perfect Day?
This AZ girl would love a day at the beach. Complete with a whale or dolphin watching tour and sunset dinner on the water.

@soxgirl982 I feel you! I see a specialist about my placenta previa on Friday and find out more. Pelvic rest for now. Do you have any additional restrictions yet? The doctors were fairly surprised to see my have this as I don't match any of the usual risk factors. (I'm a FTM, in my 20's, no history of surgery's etc.). Trying not to be too worried about it at this point... but I guess I will learn more in a few days. Best wishes to you!
  • @peachy13 I am sun burning very easily - even with SPF 30! And thanks for starting our thread! <happy dance>

    1) How far along are you
? How big is baby? 22 weeks - a coconut

    2) How are you feeling? Any cravings? Very tired lately, I've been having BH and asked my OB about it yesterday, she thinks it's likely dehydration but if I get more than 6 an hour I have to go to L&D to be safe. Eek. Craving all the bad foods so trying to behave.

    3) Do you know baby's sex? Have you started showing?
    A boy and very much!

    4) Any appointments this week/last? Had an appointment yesterday, all went well. I brought DD1 with me and she was my OB's big helper - she let her do the doppler and I swear it was the cutest thing ever.

    5) Rants/Raves/Questions? I can't believe how uncomfortable I am, this early. :( I am trying not to complain, but OMG we have so much stuff coming up I have to get it together!!

    6) GTKY: Describe your perfect day. Beach, Drinks, Sun, DH
    BabyFetus Ticker
  • @balletnerd So far doctors have told me complete pelvic rest and I can't lift anything over 10/15 lbs (except my 24 pound toddler because she doesn't care about Mama's restrictions!) I have a few more of the risk factors (AMA, previous birth, D&C prior to having DD) but I'm holding out hope for movement! Fingers crossed that you get good news at your appointment!! :)
  • Oh my goodness! So much I want to share. I really missed the thread last week, but alas, it sounds like we've all been extremely busy.

    1) How far along are you? How big is baby?
Turns out that the doctors date your pregnancy based on the first US. They in no way care when my last cycle was. That I guess officiates that I'm due Christmas Day. I'm high risk so really hoping they will take me early (assuming everything is safe for the baby).
Im 19 weeks, the size of a 6" sub (or at least the length of one).

    2) How are you feeling? Any cravings?
still struggle with fatigue not sleeping great some nights which makes me super moody.
Last week I was craving Wendy's fries with their cheese sauce (not even that good, I know lol!). I am starting to get some hungry and I could just eat all the food.
My SI joint (lower back) is killing me and my headaches are kinda back.

    3) Do you know baby's sex? Have you started showing? Had my US yesterday. The tech is pretty sure, it's probably a boy. They baby's spine is facing out and their legs are closed but they got one shot that makes them think a boy. I go back in 2 weeks to confirm.
Definitely showing. I feel huge! Haha! I know, I still have a long way to go lol

    4) Any appointments this week/last?
Met my high risk OB last week. I really like him. AS was yesterday and this Friday I meet with a doula.

    5) rants, raves and questions?
Rave - my housecleaners went above and beyond and organized my pantry for me! It was on my to do list as I'm purging the entire house. I refuse to call it "nesting" as I've wanted to do this for a long time but I have lots of downtime now to focus on organizing so I'm taking advantage and I'm so happy they took that off my list. They actually did a really good job there's only half of one shelf I might switch around. Yay!
Questions - has anyone used a doula, has anyone had a doula and needed a c-section?
Its my understanding that they really help with labour. So far, if things go as they have I can try a natural birth but due to previous injuries I may need a c-section. I'm not sure how I could best use their services in a c-section situation.

rant - I have an ear infection that I feel like I'm over.. but I'm not sure if I'm over it. I have new antibiotics that are safe for baby but the side effects, I could care less for.. and with my luck I'll get them. I'm not sure if my symptoms are "bad" enough to warrant a week of antibiotics.

Not sure if this is a true "rant". But we may be having a boy. Which is super exciting however, my sister in law is something else. Without going into a lot of details she hasn't spoken to me in about 2 years (she has a reputation for cold shouldering family members). We told her we were expecting and she shut down. 1. She found out late last year, she can't have more kids (health reasons)even though boyfriend has refused to have more for the past 3 years. But there was still that sense of loss understandably.
    2. She was mad that her little sister found out before her - despite us driving 4 hours out of our way to tell her in person (we figured she'd be mad if we didn't).
So my rant now, When her and bf had their baby they really wanted a boy but ended up with a girl. I imagine the jealousy/disappointment/emotion will likely ensue when she finds out we're having a boy. i feel like I need a PR team to manage communications to her. Some people you just can't win.

    6) GTKY: Describe your perfect day.
At this moment, I don't even know. I guess just staying home. Not having anything to do. Getting more projects done.
Perfect day overall, likely being at an all inclusive resort and relaxing.
  • @dilbert890 sometimes they will adjust the date based on later u/s. I assume your A/S showed the growth rate was on track with what your prior u/s showed? But, your due date doesn't actually matter that much if you are going into labor naturally. It's a pretty small percentage that actually hit their due date. If you might be induced, they may do an u/s late in the pregnancy to check baby's size and development. (Side note: later ultrasounds can result in pretty inaccurate size estimates--they'll often tell you it could be a off by pound either way. They estimated DD was nearly 9 pounds. She was actually 7 lbs 9 oz, and that was after nearly 24 hours of IV fluids.) If they decide a c-section is a better route, then obviously that will be scheduled, too, but it probably won't be on your due date. Most hospitals will wait for at least 39 weeks for an induction or c-section, though. And the u/s dating is more accurate than LMP dating. Since you are technically due on a major holiday, though, definitely check with your OB to see if he/she will be around or if another doc will be on call, if that is important to you. They make holiday plans in advance, so they should be able to tell you, "I'm taking vacation between Christmas and New Year's so unless we schedule it, Dr. X will deliver" or whatever the situation is.

I did have a c-section (unplanned), but did not have a doula. I have heard they can be a good advocate for you, though, so if you have a specific birth plan/desires (like baby not getting a bath right away or skin to skin with your DH while you are being stitched up), they might be able to help that stuff happen. I don't think it is necessary to have one (obvs, since I didn't), but they may be able to help keep you calm or keep your DH calm if that is a concern (my DH hates blood and is a worrier, so I knew the surgery would be tough on him, though I think watching me be in pain with contractions was maybe worse?).

  • @cait5413 thanks for the reply. I completely agree. I likely won't go to my due date since I'm high risk and they likely won't make me stay over Christmas. I imagine I'll be having the baby early! I didn't bother asking the US tech about the size of the baby. She didn't seem to conversational. I go back to my OB in like 3 weeks anyway, I can find out then.
Thats exactly what I'm hoping the doula can do. I would like to go naturally but it will be nice to have someone there to help keep me comfortable until I possibly have to decide to have a c-section. I'll have to see what the doulas suggestion or if they have any experience with woman who have had pelvic injury before.
