What are you looking forward to this week? Just a normal week for me. I may see if my mom wants to go out to the botanical gardens early one morning. Now that my son is walking more, I think he will finally appreciate the Children's garden there. What are you dreading? Just the heat. Have any goals/things you want to get accomplished this week? The usual cleaning. Maybe start planning DH'a birthday present/s Random thoughts? Is anyone else looking forward to Christmas already? GTKY: What's your favorite comfort food? My mom used to make this broccoli rice and cheese casserole. She changed the recipe now that she's eating clean, but I still prefer the original cheese whiz version
@lalala2004 - Good Morning! I hope you have a great week!
What are you looking forward to this week? I have some lunch dates with friends, hair appointment and nail appointment. I am also hoping to squeeze in som chill time inbetween.
What are you dreading? It is my last week of freedom Next week summer is over.
Have any goals/things you want to get accomplished this week? Just try to enjoy my las week of staying home for a while.
Random thoughts? None yet. I am sure I will have something at some point...
GTKY: What's your favorite comfort food? Depends on what I need comfort for. I love chocolate and ice cream but if I'm not feeling well soup
@lalala2004 - Christmas?!? I have not even started thinking about it yet lol. Someone posted some Halloween stuff on FB the other day and I was like wait, what's going on it's not even August yet.
What are you looking forward to this week? Having a normal week! We were like super social last week when normally we are homebodies, so I was worn out by the weekend. Also, we are having a few days of cooler temps which is unheard of in July in the south, so I'm enjoying that greatly.
What are you dreading? Nothing I can think of.
Have any goals/things you want to get accomplished this week? Mostly just my fitness goals and some house cleaning.
Random thoughts? DH and I a few weeks ago made a list of some decorating/home improvement projects we want to do and now I'm having to try so hard not to spend all of our money on new rugs and furniture and wall art. We have lived in our house 2 years now and there's still so much we just haven't gotten around to.
GTKY: What's your favorite comfort food? My mom also has some awesome casserole recipes @lalala2004.. There is nothing better to cheer me up than one of those!
@lalala2004 The botanical gardens sound lovely! When is your DH's birthday? My DH's is coming up in a couple weeks, hence the question I'm kind of looking forward to Christmas, but we've gotta get through Halloween first That's my favorite.
@glitzandglitter Enjoy your last week of summer! I can't believe it's August tomorrow. The kids here go back to school in two weeks.
@diaphena We're having some cooler temps right now as well, thanks to a tropical storm blowing through. What sort of projects do you guys want to do to the house?
What are you looking forward to this week? Getting over being sick. We both also play Pokemon Go, and one of the little special creature things is being released into the game tonight or tomorrow, so we're hopefully going to be able to go catch it sometime this week. Oh, and getting the test results from my OBGYN appointment last week.
What are you dreading? I honestly can't think of anything at the moment. DH has a cardiology appointment tomorrow, so that's nerve wracking. He was diagnosed with a heart condition when he was in high school, and certain things have happened lately that when we told his PCP, he wanted him to get checked out. So that's tomorrow.
Have any goals/things you want to get accomplished this week? I want to get the house cleaned up, as always. I also have laundry to put away.
Random thoughts? We've had so many doctor appointments in the last week >.< We also found out that our insurance offers a "virtual doctor visit" for things like pinkeye, bronchitis, and other respiratory stuff, so that's how I got my prescriptions yesterday. It's the same price as seeing our regular clinic, so it's a nice option.
GTKY: What's your favorite comfort food? I like pot roast and mashed potatoes. I also like roast chicken. When I'm sick, I prefer this one specific type of soup that my mom always used to make, but we don't have any right now.
@dreamscapes_ DH's birthday is the 17th and mine is the 28th. We will both be 30 for those 11 days. I wish I knew what to do for him. He doesn't need stuff. I may have cookies delivered to his office and get him an iTunes gift card, because we play Pokemon Go, too! Definitely looking forward to Moltres . I already have Halloween mostly figured out
@diaphena I'm a big casserole fan, but unfortunately DH is not as much of one, but he does like the BR&C!
@lalala2004 - not a pro game, but minor (?) league or something. It's $2 ticket Tuesday, so seats are nice and cheap (usually it's $10/ticket). It's walking distance from the house, so we can drink (and eat) and not have to worry about getting home!
@glitzandglitter soak up your last week of freedom! I'm with you, I haven't thought about holidays at all yet and I'm baffled by Halloween stuff already. An old friend of mine has been posting Halloween things on fb since the middle of July and I'm kind of like ????
@lalala2004 I mean the br&c does sound delicious. My mom makes one that's pretty much a chicken pot pie in casserole form, which I need to learn how to make. So tasty!
@dreamscapes_ Most of what we want to do is replace our old hand me down furniture which is starting to wear out. Plus we have several rooms that are half decorated, or not at all yet. I hope you're feeling better, and that your DH's appointment goes well tomorrow.
@kimberbeep yay wedding dress!! What style of dress is it?
@diaphena - Sheath style, so it's pretty form fitting through the hips! I was doing situps like a crazy person yesterday, but I doubt it will help any! I make a pot-pie-like casserole that is so easy and so good! Veggies, chicken, cream of chicken soup, top with pillsbury biscuits, bake!
@lalala2004 - Nooo! It's too early for Christmas!! @glitzandglitter - Have fun at your lunch dates! I may have read "chill" time as "chili" time, and was very intrigued at the possibility of devoting time to chili. @diaphena - We've been in our home for over 2 years as well, and definitely have way more stuff to still get done than we should! Furniture shopping is fun, though! @kimberbeep - Have fun at the game! @dreamscapes_ - GL for YH's cardio appt and your test results! I've used Doctors On Demand in the past for UTIs because it cost the same as seeing my PCP, but saves me the gas.
What are you looking forward to this week? Getting out of work early tomorrow.
What are you dreading? Doing more work on our friend's house. We spent the whole weekend there and I was there this morning painting and weed whacking, and I'm ready to be done. There's no electricity, so I'm painting half in the dark (very little natural light), and there's obviously no AC so it's hotter than hades. I open the windows to try and get a breeze, but the trees surrounding the house really kill any breeze that comes through.
Have any goals/things you want to get accomplished this week? Getting caught back up on laundry. I'll be caught up on dishes today, but laundry is the bane of my existence. I can load it, I can switch it, but DSS is the one who folds it (it's his one chore, that he actually asked for!).
Random thoughts? I hate when my glasses get smudged. I see other people who have glasses that are streaked and smudged and I can't stand it.
GTKY: What's your favorite comfort food? When I'm sick, it's chicken noodle soup or tomato soup and grilled cheese! When I'm just in a bad mood, it's usually something chocolate.
I'm on mobile and it's hard to tag people but I'm down with everyone's comfort foods!!! I'm also looking forward to Christmas already I told DH we should start to pick up gifts here and there now so we won't be hit with a big bill in December.
What are you looking forward to this week? I'm still in the middle of my daycare providers three weeks off so I have today, tomorrow, and Wednesday off with DH. We're bringing DD to the zoo tomorrow, and DD and SD to the beach Wednesday.
What are you dreading? DH is going away Wednesday night until Sunday.
Have any goals/things you want to get accomplished this week? I want to get this shelf thingy out of our bathroom to make room for a potty for DD. This requires some major organization since it's full of junk.
Random thoughts? I'm getting pedicure right now and my butt fell asleep
@lalala2004 My DH's birthday is the 17th as well! Mine is in June, so I'm just a couple of months older than him. The iTunes gift card sounds like a good idea for your DH. I'm leaning toward getting mine this book I found on Disney's nine old men (their original nine animators), because he's really into animation. We have Halloween mostly figured out as well, since we can't decorate the way I really want to. Stupid apartment living.
@diaphena That makes sense! We want to replace our couch when we move, but we'll see if that actually happens.
@izza2 Yeah, our virtual thing is also open when our clinic isn't, so that's a perk of it. We'll see how the appt tomorrow goes! I think everyone here hates laundry. It seems like it's a universal annoyance. I hope the painting goes well!
@KFrob Good luck with the organization! I hope you guys have fun at the zoo and beach
@lalala2004 Normally I'd say you were crazy to be thinking about Christmas already, but just this morning I was thinking it would be fun to make truffles for Christmas, and then it would be nice and cool in our house, instead of way too hot to even think about it. I think I'm really just pining for winter.
@dreamscapes_ I'm going to be honest, I didn't realize Pokemon Go was still a thing. But good luck! And I love the idea of a virtual doctor. I should see if that's an option for us. And I hope YH's appointment goes well tomorrow.
@izza2 Wow, you are a good friend. If I have to do chores, I actually prefer laundry. My least favorite is the dishes.
What are you looking forward to this week? I have a haircut on Wednesday. And DH is going to come have lunch with me at work one more time before he has to go back to school next week.
What are you dreading? I thought I had one of these, but now I'm drawing a blank.
Have any goals/things you want to get accomplished this week? Get a guest list for my almost-SIL's bachelorette party. But that's actually on her, not me.
Random thoughts? I had a dream last night that my coworkers were all congratulating me on being pregnant, and when I told them I'm not, they all just said "Ah, right" *wink wink*. I woke up really irritated and frustrated. Also, our power just came back on after being out for 2 hours. Luckily, it came on just as it was getting really dark outside.
GTKY: What's your favorite comfort food? I love macaroni and cheese. And chocolate. Always chocolate.
@Secretstapler - Want to move in together so you can do laundry and I'll do the dishes?
Sometimes I think about hiring a housekeeper to come in like twice a week and help us, but, I'm not only too poor, I also get a little weirded out thinking of someone coming in my house while I'm not there. It's one of the reasons I thought about hiring a dog walker when I was still working 12 hour shifts at the hospital, but decided against it.
I think I have the option for a virtual doctor, but that weirds me out. Which is silly, because the dr. I normally see is over an HOUR away and it's really been a hassle to get in to see her for the past couple years. I know that a couple towns over there is a DRIVE THRU doctor!
@diaphena - I have lived in my house and I still have improvements that I want to make/things to work on. It never ends... @kimberbeep - Your dress sounds beautiful! When is the big day? Also, I don't think I would go to a virtual doctor for major things but something like pink eye? Heck yeah! So much easier... @dreamscapes_ glad you are starting to feel better. GL to your DH today with his appointment! I love the idea of a virtual dr. @izza2 - you win the friend of the year award! How much longer until you are finished? @KFrob - I hope you enjoy your time off/family time! I love Thanksgiving food too - YUM!! @secretstapler - That is awesome that you have nothing to dread this week. I hope you have a great week!
@glitzandglitter - September 8th! So close! I'm starting to get nervous, but more like - oh crap, did I remember to pay so-and-so nervous!
@KFrob - Thanksgiving is probably my favorite holiday simply because of the food! Sweet potato casserole and green bean casserole are my top two favorites though!
@izza2 We're probably going to hire a move-out cleaning service next year when we move, since I don't want to deal with it (and I'll hopefully be KU by then). I totally understand wanting to hire someone, but getting weirded out by it. I'm hesitant to even just have someone come feed a cat if we had one.
@kimberbeep I don't know about other virtual doctor services, but ours is mainly for minor things like pinkeye, bronchitis, the flu, etc. Things that can be easily diagnosed without lab tests or much examination, so not like a broken bone or seizures or something else more serious. But yeah, I get being weirded out by it.
@glitzandglitter Thanks! We're hoping the new developments aren't anything too serious, but we'll see what happens.
I'm enjoying our GTKY this week cause every time I read one of your comfort foods, I go "OHH that's my comfort food too!" Turns out my comfort food is actually... just... food. Haha! @KFrob I am also a big fan of Thanksgiving food.
@izza2 and @glitzandglitter YEP, the one thing I've learned so far from this home ownership thing is that the projects really never stop. We get one thing done and then notice 3 more things that need doing
Omg guys I've been gone for what feels like forever!
Im mobile so trying to tag everyone is near impossible sorry ladies. But I hope everyone is doing well and some of these comfort foods sound awesome!!!
Not sure when I'll be able to check in much, but just wanted to pop in and tell you ladies I've been thinking about you!! And hi to all the newbies!
Looking forward to: not much this week honestly. Very busy week and weekend!
Dreading: I'm off work Wed-Fri and I don't actually get a break or to sleep in
Goals: have a good experience at my first vendor event as a consultant!! I've been having a terrible time with getting sales, and this was supposed to be a way to make more money for my family
GTKY: I love Panera tomato soup with a bread bowl.
@glitzandglitter I'm with Usborne Books and More. Not sure how much longer I'll continue consulting though, depends on if I can get sales to pick up or not it's been slow this summer for all consultants that I know (even ones with other companies), so I'm trying to stick it out through the holidays since I only joined in April.
@glitzandglitter He's almost at 100%, so now it's pretty much just me getting back to normal now. His appointment went as well as it could have gone. He has to have some tests scheduled, and we're trying to get a hold of his records from his doctor when he was a teenager.
Guys I did it! I accepted the job offer! I start August 21, which gives me a week (FX it's my FW) off with MH. We agreed that I'd take the job and re-discuss in three months how we each feel about the travel. It'll be right before holiday time, so I can easily quit and snag a job in retail to tide me over while I search for what's new (or don't, because hopefully I'll be KU by that time and can just enjoy a last trimester of pregnancy relaxing and nesting).
@JennyColada That's awesome, congratulations! And I think that sounds like a really great plan to try it out and see how it goes. It's always nice to know you can change your mind.
