@missnc77 - I have a tall husband as well and didn't even THINK about not being able to put the driver seat all the way back!
I currently have a Toyota 4Runner - but feel like we'll need something bigger since I'm having twins. I don't do a lot of driving (we live in a big city) - so I'm thinking that the Sequoia might be our next purchase.
I have a 03 Honda Element right now. She's been paid off since 2011 and is doing great so we will keep driving her. DH drives a 2015 GMC Sierra that is leased and has another year on the lease. I am hoping my old girl can make it until then. Then we will trade in for 2 new vehicles. I would love a Toyota Sequoia but DH parks in a pipe fitters union parking lot for work and they won't let foreign cars park there and we will want to lease both from the same place.I am guessing he will end up with a car next and I will get an Acadia, Traverse, or Suburban.
I don't care how many children I end up having...Navigator for me! I am absolutely not a car person. I am still driving my 06 Corolla. So, if/when I happen upon something I like, it's on! A friend of mine, who drives a Jeep with her 2 kids, recommended an Infiniti.

I have an Infiniti FX35 (mid-size SUV). That car is my baby and I would happily keep buying the same car over and over again. We are done after this baby #2 and I think my car is just the right size for a family of 4
I used to have an '04 Corolla that we replaced with a Subaru Forester a couple months before DS was born. I LOVE the Forester. Our other car is a '11 Corolla, which is completely paid off and we have no intention to replace anytime soon. I usually take it to work, but our schedules/morning routines are changing so we'll need to reconsider what I drive to work. My husband takes public transportation so the Corolla didn't even have a car seat in it until last week (to anticipate the changes). The Forester will fit 2 rear facing no problem, but we won't be able to drive anyone else - not that we've ever needed to.
@day38 My DH had a Forester! He actually taught me how to drive in it, (yes we've been together that long!) I miss Subby (that's what we called it). We were in a car accident in it and we walk away from it without a scratch. Unfortunately, it was totaled. But they are very safe vehicles and I definitely vouch for them!
We have a Jeep Liberty and after our DD was born we traded in his car for a Dodge Durango. Love the Durango and the jeep works ok too. We have DD who turns 2 tomorrow and 2 giant boxer dogs so we need rear end space!
It's a minivan. I love it. I can't imagine not having my minivan. It goes through snow like a hot knife through butter. Power sliding doors, DVD player. It's the best thing since sliced bread.
Used to drive a Toyota Venza and loved it!! So many features on the base model!
I have a Nissan Pathfinder and I'm over the top obsessed! The second row slides and glides back WITH a car seat in it!!! Bonus: With a zero down lease, it's still my cheapest car payment by far and I brag about the monthly cost to my friends.
To the minivan moms, my friend just got a Chrysler Pacifica...Stepping inside is like a whole new world. It's amazing! The kids just climb right on it and bounce around and seem to love it!
We have a 2015 Toyota rav 4. I have a love/hate relationship with it. I definitely don't recommend it for people with kids, or people who want to transport friends and family. Unfortunately it only seats 4 people safely, because the back seats have overlapping seatbelts. There's no way in heck 3 car seats can go back there. Even if they fit, the seatbelts won't allow it. We bought it back when we were expecting baby number 1. Traded in our Prius ( ) for it because we thought we needed a bigger car. I miss our Prius so much. We only plan on having 2 kids so the rav 4 should work fine for us, but we could never fit anyone else in the car. The trunk is big so I love it, and it's a nice cute SUV otherwise. Hubs drives an 07 paid off Mazda 3, so we will keep that one. His AC doesn't work so that's next on the agenda.
We have an '02 Honda that whoever doesn't have our toddler for the day drives. Our family car is a '15 Sonota. We briefly toyed with the idea of trading the Sonota in for an SUV, but the back seat is pretty roomy and two car seats will fit comfortably. Of course, if it's multiples (we don't know yet) I would like to either get an SUV or minivan. I used to hate minivans until I saw my brother's. he has a 2016 Dodge Caravan with the works and I loved it. Pretty sweet ride
I drive a Suburban and love it. We can take the whole family (including dog) and luggage anywhere. I drove an Equinox when we only had 2, but traded it when trying for #3. I love it!
@Elizabella85 I am right there with ya girl I LOVE my minivan!!! #minivanmom all the way! I couldn't wait to get one and the minute we found out I was pregnant I told my husband it was time. Its a Chrysler Town & Country - I've owned it for 10 days and I'm already obsessed. There is so much space, sliding doors, it's everything I've ever dreamed of and more! I don't know why all of you resist
My parents have a T&C, it's very nice and they love it!! They've had it for 10 years (purchased used) and it now has well over 150,000 miles on it. That thing still runs like a dream. You've got a good one!!
We have a Toyota Corolla and I'm a little concerned about having two rear facing car seats. I don't want to put the toddler and baby right next to each other, but my son's convertible seat doesn't fit well rear facing unless it is in the middle. He will be close to 3 when the baby is born, but I was planning on RF until he outgrew his seat limits. It's not in the budget to get a different car right now, so we will just make it work.
How tall are you and what seat are you rear facing?
I love all the minivan comments lol. I was a minivan hater until last year. We had three kids and carseats packed into the back of a Toyota Camry. Great gas mileage, but the kids were like sardines in the back seat. I gave that car to my brother and found a minivan. I LOVE it. It is a Chrysler Town and Country. The doors work with a push of a button. It has a back up camera, TWO tv's and wireless headphones. The seats will all fold down flat for music equipment hauling. I am 100% in love. Her name is Fancy (she's red and I like the Reba song). My Mom has a Buick with 3rd row seating that is nice too. My Dad has a Toyota Rav 4 with 3rd row seating as well. That one is pretty tight though. I tried sitting in the back seat and I'm only 5'1.5". It was a miserable trip. We are looking at Suburbans now. My husband has an older truck and a very old Jeep. It would be nice to have another 4W drive vehicle that can carry us all and pull a camper. They are expensive though!
I drive a Toyota Highlander and LOVE it. I have the captains chairs and I contemplated getting a full row but my sister (a mom of two) said that with the captains chairs it was a lot easier and that with two car seats your wont get much in that third middle seat anyway. So we are going to try it out with the new little one. DH has a small sedan at the moment - which is a Toyota Camry...we love it however with one carseat in there now it is CRAMPED. His dream is to have a truck...so we have talked and once his is paid off in November, he wanted to get a truck with a full cab...but he is going to get a 4runner. He does LOVE minivans though....(me not so much although they are the smartest thing in the world.....for kids)
We will be getting a minivan in a few months, since this is baby number 3. I currently have a Jeep Compass and it's great for 2 kids but won't fit three car seats.
@heatherdubrow I had a Jeep Compass, too. Before my Wrangler. I wondered if they were car seat friendly and would go back to that for sure. The new 2017's are sharp!

Neither of us are that tall, I'm 5'2" ish and my husband is about 5'10". But both of us like our seat reclined back a little bit. Our son is in the GracoMySize65. It definitely fits, but it touches the back of the seat and I have read that isn't safe.
@justkeeptrying My DH and I got the BFP and realized my '00 Mercury Mountaineer was not going to cut the mustard for our baby(or -ies)! We just upgraded to a Hyundai Tuscon a little over a week ago, and it is the the most beatiful vehicle I think I've ever seen. So glad to see you approve!
I drive a Suburban. I've had one for the last 7 or so years and love it. We already have 3 kids - so there is plenty of room adding a 4th kid to the car. DH drives a malibu. Since he mainly uses it for his commute we likely won't get something bigger for him at this time.
I have a BMW 5 series, but plan on trading it in for either a BMW X3 m sport or a BMW X5. I will probably pull the trigger in October. My SO's car is on its last leg. He's the "ride it until the wheels fall off" type. Which I can't be mad at. Since discovering "my condition" (lol), he's decided to trade it in for a more reliable sedan, which will probably happen in/by December (hopefully, also along with an engagement ). But thats another thread altogether. Ha!

Well guys, I did it. I traded in my Jeep
However, I LOVE my GMC Terrain! I know it'll be good for when the baby is here and it just made me more excited!
