Going camping AGAIN this week. Wahoo! This time at the beach. Can't wait to be lazy and relax ALL week long. But I am dreading the bathing suit situation. I tried all of my bathing suits on last night, and things are looking a little vulgar with my current boob situation. Haha. Hopefully I don't terrify my entire family! Also, DH isn't going to join us until Thursday, so I'm also not looking forward to wrestling the toddler by myself!
Just a random question... I thought about starting a thread to see what advice STMs have for registering (must-haves, wastes, etc.) as people begin to think about registering in the next few weeks or so. Has there already been one like this for our birth month? Just want to make sure I'm not overlooking and/or duplicating a thread.
@cyanope we have been camping a lot this year and are going for a 10 day trip in September the only part that sucks in DD is not a great sleeper in our camper so although it's relaxing we typically all come back tired we will we how 10 days goes , I'm not getting any smaller so trying to keep her worn out all day is only going to get harder .
so we built our house 2 years ago after a title loss and one of my requirements was a walk in shower with no glass ( because it sucks to clean ) ... of coarse never in my wildest dreams would I think " man one day it's going to be hard to keep a baby out of here " ... I have to remember to strip DD Down before I get in because I cannot keep her out of the shower haha . She LOVES water , climbs right in and just sits under the shower laughing . I have got to the point where I can get out , dry off , get semi decent before going back and dragging her out . Crazy kids , don't know what I am going to do when the twins come , of lord !!

@whitta1218 I think there may have been a similar discussion but it was very early on.
@ecolton01, this is our third camping trip this year (we just got back from one a little over a week ago), and thankfully DD was done really well on all of them! Fingers crossed that continues and that your LO sleeps for you this time! Thanks, @schaze! @whitta1218, we did talk about that on a previous thread, but it wasn't a thread about registering. I also think one specifically designated for registries would be helpful.
@cyanope - We went to the lake with my in-laws a few weeks ago and I tried on my bathing suits the night before and I was so horrified! None of them contained the boobage so I ended up wearing shorts and a tank top and keeping my butt on the boat. I just bought maternity bottoms (because I'm sure mine won't fit for much longer and these are super cute and high waisted) and a bigger top to keep everything in because we're going up to my in-laws' house in a few weeks and we're counting on spending several days by their pool assuming the weather holds out!
I went shopping yesterday. I wanted to put eyes on strollers and get some work maternity pants for myself. Well I couldn't contain myself at Babies 'R Us and Carter's. Since we find out what we are having on Friday, I am pretty sure that I bought every single newborn outfit in gray, cream and white. Even one that was blue, but it worked for a boy or a girl. Thank God for 40% off!
@jaclyn0405 - we went a little clothes crazy over the weekend at Target! Everything was just so cute and I couldn't contain myself. Luckily, I set aside a decent amount in our baby fund for clothes even though I know it's not practical to buy a ton. We have a Carter's outlet nearby and we'll probably go up there at some point, too.
@gusgus14 ahh I am glad to hear that I am not alone lol! Everything is seriously SO adorable. And I personally love to shop for clothes, shoes, makeup, etc. God help me when we find out and I can head to either section because I totally agree with you that while it isn't practical I may not be able to contain myself! Lol.
I was looking at my maternity photos from last pregnancy at 30 wks and OMG I was huge. I don't even know how I got to 38 wks! Anyway, I am definitely going to get photos taken earlier this time around maybe at like 26 wks??
Just saw on my news feed that Scaramucci just got canned! LOL!! Dude only had the job for a week! Also his wife just filed for divorce while 9 months pregnant, had their baby last week and he was magnanimous enough to text his congrats. He wins the D-bag award this week!
Ladies, I didn't want to revive the questions/concerns thread from a month ago, but wanted to share that we finally got DH's test results back and he is not a carrier of the two issues I have a recessive gene for. So, LO (and any future LOs) should be safe from those two risks. This means we can finally share the news, I can do bump photos, and join the spreadsheet! I wanted to thank all of you again for the support. In addition to one of my closest friends, it was you all that made the experience feel less lonely. My heart goes out to anyone in that waiting game situation.
I'm getting irrationally angry about the FTM on Real Answers stating she "doesn't want to" get the Tdap. And even more angry about the women responding that it's fine to not get it.
@missblaze I have not read that one specifically, but I do have to wonder sometimes if those posts (and responses) are more of the troll variety...? Looking to garner ANY traffic (good/bad/ugly)...?
Jan '18 December Siggy Challenge: Christmas Movies
@missblaze I can't even. We had a mom on our last BMB who was going to skip the glucose test. We never saw her again after we tried to tell her why it was necessary. I don't understand those types of people.
I also don't get this Real Answers thing! It's so hard to look at them because I don't get how they're organized.
@egirl1025I lol’d at that too. Sometimes the stories
surrounding this administration are too absurd to believe! I still can’t
believe he didn’t visit his newborn etc. A-hole!
@libbberty SO SO beyond glad to hear this news! I am excited
for you to sit back and enjoy this journey now!
So I work for the baseball team at a university (and hockey etc). The head coach and his wife just had a baby last Friday... I just ran into them and he stopped the car so I could come meet the baby. OMG I forget how tiny and sleepy newborns are. I just can't wait! Also his wife said she felt great!
ETA I also love this coach. He's a good guy all around. I know he and his wife struggled to get pregnant, so I am EXTRA happy for them too.
March has a click bait thread that is bound to be closed soon "What should I do". So far they have a thread closed every week if not more. I do feel sorry for them because they are getting BOMBARDED by drive by and special snowflake threads. I can understand how some moms are getting ragey.
@LemmyRN thank you very much! I tend to drop by March 2018 every couple of days to see what's up. They have the GIF game down! The snark is definitely strong in that BMB and I can't say I hate it.
@EmilyLove25@LemmyRN jhc that thread was a wild ride. i know i shouldn't be but i can't help being shocked that there are people out there that actually think some of these things

I was pretty upset when someone called my in utero girl a little princess the other day, like rage pissed. So angry. She's not a princess. She will be smart and strong and anything she wants to be. The next day I went to the princess awesome website to look at science dresses for her and found this blog post and it made me feel better about her being a princess. I think the reason I struggled with it is because I never thought I'd have a girl. DH has 2 boys, I mentally prepared for all boys so I never thought I'd have to think about how to raise a girl. I always thought I'd be teaching my boys how to not be aholes, and how to respect women, consent, and just in general be kind and treat people with respect and love, which I will also need to teach her. But now I have this other thing that scares the crap out of me. Anyway... the biggest take away I took from that article was this:
Why do I think wearing a princess dress means she can’t also do science experiments? Or play soccer? Or solve math problems?
Yes, I need to be thoughtful about how much of the Princess Culture I let her consume and how I talk to her about the elements that I find problematic, but one can be interested in princesses and also interested in other things. In fact, not only can that happen, from what I’ve seen, it does happen - more often than not.
@supercoolstephy we are complete opposites. In terrified of raising a boy to a young man (idk what I'm having yet). But have always been concerned I wouldn't be a good boy mom. I'm pretty girly and my SIL refers to me as the fancy aunt. DH and I refer to DD as a princess. She is our princess. She also has shown great interest in frilly/ poofy clothes. She actually gets excited and squeals when she sees them. That being said I am in the medical field and DH is in IT. We have every intention of having DD pursue a STEM degree. I have even found out that our children's museum offers STEM Sundays and as soon as DD is old enough we will be taking her. So I agree with what you posted, they can dress up and be pretty AND be intelligent women that contribute something valuable to society.
Wow. That thread! I gotta say, it was entertaining, but I'm also glad our group isn't really like that (yet). Drama is fantastic when it has nothing to do with me (and btw, I see a big difference between conflict - which I think is important for developing intimacy or friendship - and drama). But what's the point of having discussions if people on the outside of those start to feel afraid to participate?
Real answers is starting to scare me more than entertain. I can't believe TB hasn't changed that...great concept but I think they need to revisit the implementation.
@burnsmommy27 be careful not to teach her that she has to do STEM to be intelligent and contribute something to the world. My dad's an engineer, and he's never hidden his disappointment that I went into the humanities. And sure STEM's the thing to be right now, but if she grows up to be an English teacher or a social worker her contributions will be no less valuable!
Edit to add - I don't think that's what you're saying, but you poked a personal sore spot.
@burnsmommy27 I'm totally super girly too which is why I've been struggling with this internally. I've always wanted a little girl, but I really didn't think it was going to happen. So now that it is, it's like, how do I raise her to not be like me, the college age years? haha. And also, how do I teach her to not talk so much, I haven't succeeded on that with DS, who acts and talks just like I do.
@auntieraindrop bahah because I never shut up. I'm worse than my dad, he's worse than my grandfather. If we keep this up then no one will ever get a word in.
@supercoolstephy I have a VERY talkative 3-year-old and we have had to start implementing turn-taking in conversations. She will literally talk over you, or interrupt you because she has something to say. I'm happy to say that she has responded well to turn-taking thus far lol
