Happy Lammas / Lughnasadh!

I follow a pagan tradition, and the holidays seem to be sneaking up on me this year. (More so than usual). This is my favorite of the summer festivals/holidays, probably because it reminds me that we're (finally) shifting toward Fall. Happy first blush of harvest to everyone! Lughnasadh always makes me think about abundance, the memory of longer nights, late summer fruits and early wines, home-baked breads, bonfires with friends, and, of course, the excitement of the coming fall/winter holidays.

Whatever your path or leaning, I hope you have a touch of magic, wonder and thanksgiving to your day!

So this sounds like a wonderful holiday and kind of reminds me of the Jewish harvest festival, Sukkot, but I'll be honest I totally read it as "Happy Llamas" at first and I now have the "happy llama, sad llama, totally rad llama" kids song stuck in my head lol. @jackiesmom324 The tradition I follow celebrates 8 solar holidays a year. These are the equinoxes and solstices, and then the days halfway between each equinox and solstice. Lughnasadh is one of the in-between holidays, and the next holiday will be Mabon on the fall equinox. Each holiday is thematically tied to the somewhat-agrarian actions of each season -- late summer and early fall is about abundance, the harvests, reaping what you've sown, etc; while early spring is about coming out of winter, setting intent for you year, "planting" the seeds of what you'd like to get done, fertility, etc. There are a lot of stories or myths woven through as well, but that tends to be specific to the person and whatever bit of mythology they are tied to.

I am the only pagan in this generation of my family. My mom is the closest her generation has to one. Her uncle was a water witch, etc, etc. There's a lot of superstition and natural-world focus to go around.

I grew up with a lot of pagan influence in a most agnostic family that are C&E Christians on the surface (Christmas & Easter and no church the rest of the year). We don't talk about my being pagan openly in the extended family, because it's sort of generally frowned upon, and I still celebrate Christian holidays with my extended family. My kid(s) will be raised with a broad exposure to world religions until they're old enough to choose their beliefs (or agnosticism, or atheism) for themselves.

Blessed Lughnasadh!
So happy to see a fellow Pagan, I thought I was alone here on the BMB. I also celebrate the 8 holidays. Lughnasadh is also special to me because it was the first holiday I celebrated as a Pagan after I started my path.. so it's also somewhat of an anniversary for me.
The wheel of the year has turned once again!

@eazybreezy225 Lughansadh always feels like my personal pagan anniversary too. I don't remember if it was the first holiday I celebrated, but it was the first one I shared with non-pagan friends in college and has always been special to me since.
