My husband is American and I am Russian. We are expecting a boy. I would like to give a baby a Russian name that has English equivalent but I am not sure how weird those names would sound to an American ear (my husband likes these names but he is a little biased

.
I really like the following Russian names, English name in parentheses: Matvey (Matthew), Timofey (Timothy), Anton (Anthony). How do those names sound to you?
Re: Russian American Parents
I would also suggest
Ivan
Viktor
Nikolai
Dimitri
I also second pp names as being easy to pronounce/use by Americans.
Baby #2 Due 3/7/20
Anton
but Dimitri is one of my all time favorite boys name
I'd steer clear of the -ey ending names because English people pronounce them without softening the consonant that comes before, and it sounds really weird. If it doesn't bother your ear, disregard that.
My favourites are Nikolai (our final pick) and Nikita, but I also love Dimitri, Constantine, and Alexander.

No. It really doesn't. It does, however, sound like Tina Fey with an M. Do with that as you see fit.
