Anyone doing IVF in July/August?

Re: Anyone doing IVF in July/August?

• @marioana99 WHEW! I'm telling you, meds delivery stress is terrible. Last order I thought they didn't pack my Omnitrope and I flipped! lol. turns out they packed it with some extra menopurs and I didn't recognize it! I thought I'd lost 800 bucks worth of meds! I bet they were glad to get off the phone with me!

@bababatty we absolutely have shot stress. We have ditched those q caps because neither of us can use them properly... I guess we are old skool and my DH is better drawing up the meds freehand! :)

• @allycheer00 YAAAAS that's awesome! Cant ask for more than that!
@Hopeful_mom Ok... that does seem like a long time for priming!
• allycheer00 woo hoo thats awesome congrats!! Don't be discouraged if they all aren't blasts by day 5...they might need that extra day now. Very happy for you, ugh this emotional roller coaster, right!

dragonette505 I"m sure 2/3 days isn't much priming but I'm trying not to do too much of it soooo we shall see if I'm timing this right, I love that I"ll have to let my RE know what i'm doing when AF comes. I'm the one that really mentioned the EPP to her, my E2 was technically ok so she really didn't think I needed too much of it anyway...we shall see. Its hard when we keep trying to figure out what to do next. You want to try something else but since i did get a normie this way we felt we should stick with it.

@dragonette505 oh I'll keep ya posted ;) where are you at right now? I've been trying to read back through but there are so many posts I have to literally make notes to remember who's doing what haha. I go in tomorrow for CD2 blood, u/s & to learn how to give the HGH shot. It's still subcu so I think it'll be fine, but still.

@Hopeful_momYAY for FIVE normies! Where are you at right now in your next cycle? I am so hoping you get more and can move onto your transfer!

@megmac2010 my headaches usually kick in by CD 5 or 6 and it's horrible, lots and lots of water! Acupuncture helps mine too, not sure if you do it or not.

I don't know if anyone has watched Friends From College on Netflix (it's kind of stupid funny) but I had no idea there was a side infertility story within it and DH and I thought it was probably the most accurate depiction of IVF we've seen on TV. It's still over dramatized but it's funny and so true to what we've both experienced. It made us laugh and hurt for them because we understood so well, and I hope it allows other people to see what some of us have to go through.

@allycheer00 those are great numbers!! Congrats :)
• Wow I missed a lot of updates!

@allycheer00 - That is great!! I hope a lot make it to blast.

@dragonette505 - I ditched the q caps too. They were wasting too much expensive medicine! The old fashioned needle does it best.

@marioana99 - Good luck with your ER!!

@Bababatty - Yay for stims! I hope you get a lot of follicles!

@Hopeful_mom - Wow, 4 back to back cycles! You must be in the marine corps or something! That's amazing you got those embryos banked.

@megmac2010 - When I was stimming all I felt was tired. Just so tired all the time, at work, at home... I hope you get a ton of follicles!

@Dwmmwd - 13 fertilized, that's awesome! Hopefully a lot make it to blast.

@Aera11 - Good luck on your IVF!!

AFM - My AF started today, which is 10 days after my ER. I thought that was early but apparently it's not? Anyway, because I have a previously scheduled Euro trip booked at the end of August and hitting into Labor Day, I had to make the tough choice to push my FET until October (2 cycles from now, skipping the months of August and September). The nurse says I can go on BCP all the way until I come back from vacation, but I figure it's not really worth saving those couple of weeks. Besides, am I crazy to think that I should try the "old fashioned way" for these 2 cycles and see? It's so stupid to go back to OPKs and such, but a part of me still holds out hope, although the chances are almost nil.

Turns out it's a boy too! Hilarious right? They are over the moon. ;)

Hey, I have a question - since we have some seasoned ivfers in the group, has anyone cycled with low-dose HCG? I was told to order my meds as close as possible to when I need to start bc it has a short shelf-life, since it's compounded. Just wondering if anyone here had some experience with that.

I got EWCM yesterday... on CD5. :worried: so after a very. Long time, I broke out the bbt this morning so AF doesn't sneak up on me! Hoping to get meds ordered like they said, as close as possible. :#
• @helloworld9 I do the same thing.Whenever I am in a break month I try the natural way. You never know right?

On my side I just did my us, a 19, 14.6 and a 13. So probably one more day of stimming and hopefully triggering tomorrow. I really hoped it will be today, so I get too ER on Friday. I realized with the retrievals I am almost like a kid hoping to get sick so he can skip school, just with me is having a retrieval so I can skip work :p. I will know for sure this afternoon after they get my bw but last IVF when I got to 19mm the RE wanted to wait one more day just that my LH started to rise. This time I think I am fine, I did OPK every day since Saturday and all of them have a faint line which means LH is around 2.5 (at least this was the value on Monday).

• marioana99 ha! For me I'm more worried about you my RE is the day on ER as my clinics dr rotate and for me my RE is my lucky charm so i need that rotation to keep working! I do think your RE will want you to wait to trigger one more day for sure, we want that 13 to get a bit bigger!! excited you're so close!

BusinessWife thats hilarious!! talk about really being meant to be huh!! As for the hcg I haven't actually used that while stemming, I used something else that didn't have a long shelf life and one was for 2 weeks and the other for a month. Are you taking it through your whole cycle? Technically you don't start taking meds till day 2 of your cycle so you could still get them to overnight it if it needs to be that close? Not ideal but it does work.

• @Hopeful_mom I dont think priming is always necessary. My doc says it can give your ovaries a break (since you are supplementing estrogen) before you start hardcore stimming. But lots of folks do fine without it
@Aera11 Im waiting to ovulate then priming before my next AF! Im really psyched for you this cycle!
@helloworld9 i think 10 days post retrieval is pretty normal since its essentially 12 days past triggering, so like a normal 12 day LP.
@Dwmmwd Bingo with the shots, the moment i get more involved than icing and cleaning the site things get iffy! lol I think its already so stressful then there i am pecking at him (or freaking out sometimes! lol)
@BusinessWife I feel like recently a gal on one of our threads used low dose hcg... if i can remember which one i'll tell you.
@marioana99 Im generally hoping to get my retrieval on a weekend, but i know what you mean.... Friday is also awesome because you have more days to relax after! FC you trigger soon!

• I also know someone who was doing ivf and then on the off month for pregnant. And she was 40 and is now 8 months preggers. So it definitely happens. I think if you dont have a reason to go on bcp, then why do it? Unless your doctor is like trying to calm your ovaries down or something. Or painful periods? Or maybe you can better schedule things? I guess other reasons too.

@marioana99 i hope the trigger is soon. Fx for that 13 pulling through. Ive also literally never seven my RE unless I have an appt with him. Its always another doctor or for a lot if the US it was a n.p. but I'm at a big teaching hospital and it's kind of a factory in there. The worst is when they bring in new docs who can barely find my ovaries.

• OMG, some of these pharmacy stories sound awful. So so stressful! @marioana99 - I would have been freaking out!

But I must say, @dragonette505 & @Bababatty - I feel very "in the know" knowing all about the best pharmacies in Manhattan to get fertility meds. LOL. ;)

@marioana99 - keeping everything super crossed for you - really hoping these follies give you beautiful mature eggs!

@Aera11 - keeping FX for you this round!! I've been trying to watch Friends from College, but I'm finding that IVF husband so unsympathetic - he seems like such an immature jerk! The cheating does not help. :/

@megmac2010 - keeping FX for you too!

@Hopeful_mom - so thrilled about normie #5! Yey!

@allycheer00 - wonderful news re: the others fertilizing!

@BusinessWife - I love stories like that!

@helloworld9 - oh man, I'd definitely try the old fashioned way. I hope you have a wonderful, relaxing time in Europe and enjoy yourself! A big trip after IVF is well-deserved!!!

@Dwmmwd - great news re: the fertilized! FX!

My H really wanted to help with the meds and got so mad at me one morning when I woke up before him and started preparing the shot. He was like: "This is all I can do to help! I just want to help!" Which was pretty sweet. So he did most of the shots too, except the mornings I did them after bloodwork at the clinic.

Your wine country trip sounds lovely! So important to get a change of scenery sometimes!

Some friends from out of town were visiting the other day, and I realized, talking to them, how different our lives are (we maybe see them once every 2-3 years). Our friends are from a small rural town, and we live in a city, so things like accessing healthcare are an issue for them - like, even if they had IF problems, getting to a clinic would be brutal, whereas for us, it's not a big deal... Anyway, it made me think - in so many areas of my life, I'm obscenely lucky, and sometimes I forget how much some people struggle for things that have been handed to me on a silver platter. Which is not to say that I haven't struggled or worked hard or experienced pain, of course I have, it's just - it strikes me that there is a lot of pain and loss out there in general, not just with IF.

I mean, I'm obviously not super zen and perfect. I've had lots of nights where I've felt so sorry for myself. I cry about IF all the time. But, as my husband points out, even though this is a struggle and it's shitty and hard, let's not forget that I'm wiping tears away with my manicured hands. It could be a LOT worse for me, you know? My life could be a lot shittier!

AFM: AF is here, so I've scheduled my hysteroscopy for the end of next week. If that goes well - which I hope it does! - we'll be able to do our FET around Labor Day. I'm really hoping they resolve this polyp issue next week, and that I don't have to go for a more major surgery.
• funkykey Its good to have reminders! And i'm glad you have a loving and understanding DH, those are hard to come by especially though this process. I remember my mom as a kid would show me a telethon for kids with MS and so on. Explaining these really are kids with problems...not for whatever nonsense I was crying over at the time. Did it make me feel better, not really, but I got the point. We have our day but its good reminders too. I pray as going through this, that this will be the toughest struggle and then I get to have my healthy babies and they get to have good healthy lives because of it, u know. Good luck with the polyp. I think labor day sounds great!

Haha - exactly. Like I don't always like hearing it, and when the wound is fresh, I'm like: "f*ck off", but in my more sober moments, when I haven't just received more bad news from the clinic, I think, you know, we all have our trials - and I'm not the first person who has struggled, nor will I be the last.

But yeah, right when you're dealing with something fresh, who needs that reminder?! LOL.
• @Aera11 Is there an August thread? I feel like this one is kinda both! lol... I'm basically an August girl too! Sorry you are bumped back (that was totally me two weeks ago when i thought i would be starting and i was put back on the bench). I def wouldnt waste that Omnitrope on a possible non respond cycle!! @Aera11 ugh the dreaded cyst, sorry to hear hope it goes away quickly! DOn't get anywhere this is the summer board. I conquer with dragonette505. When I started so many moons ago IVF boards rain 2 months...by the time you start stemming and make it to ER many overlap 2 months. It always made more sense to me!!

• So I ended up with moderate OHSS despite all my prep and luckily didn't need paracentesis. Symptoms (8lb weight gain in 6 days, bloating, pain, shortness of breath, heartburn - no, firebreathing, diarrhea, gas) had dissipated mostly by yesterday (3dp5dt), but as of today the bloat and tender belly have returned with chest tightness and angry nips!... So, FX that this foreshadows a BFP on Monday. Enjoyed my little break from guzzling Gatorade but since the fluid is returning, so is THE THIRST QUENCHER lol. I know the embryo doesn't have ears yet but I'm playing it music anyway. I think between the progesterone supps and the news that all the rest of our embryos stopped growing I'm starting to get into my own head a bit too much and feeing down. DH is not feeling optimistic about the transferred embryo since the others arrested. So I'm trying to keep up with what's going on here but it's hard. I either feel super hopeful or hopeless.

Anyway, for the rest of y'all- Positive vibes, sticky baby dust, and plentiful ERs all around!
ME: 33 / DH: 37
MFI, NTNP x 10yrs
6/2017: started IVF + ICSI cycle #1, antagonist protocol (menopur/gonal-f/ovidrel)
7/17/2017: ER, 16 eggs retrieved, 15 mature and ICSI'd, 7 fertilized.
7/22/2017: 1 fresh day 5 embryo transfer, rest of embryos arrested at day 4 morula stage
7/31/2017: BFN
August: DH started clomid
November 2017: Started metformin for egg quality
March 2018: Planning to do IVF + ICSI, antagonist with HGH, freeze at 2pn stage for 2018 FET
• @baker+RN lucky you didn't need meds! I had to take meds for my moderate ohss last cycle. Sometimes the bloating at this stage comes from the estrogen and progesterone. Along with the ohss it can make you uncomfortable. Hopefully it's not too bad :)
• baker+RN ugh that bloat is awful...I constantly feel that way...but hopefully that belly is just gonna grow and grow for the next 9 months ;) I understand you're feeling down and its understandable! BUT remember you ARE PUPO. SO why not try to enjoy it! I will also mention that some embryos just grow better inside the uterus, their natural environment, why they even do 3dt. Hope you start to feel better with each day!

@dragonette505 haha I guess there isn't an august board! This one will just go on forever I guess. I'm definitely not wasting the omnitrope! It was $1000 so helllllllll no! Maybe we'll be cycle buddies :)

@Hopeful_mom yeah, one round is easily 4-8 weeks!

Oh no @baker+rn, hoping for a quick recovery AND a bfp!!!
• @Aera11 yeah for sure don't waste that omnitrope! Lol mine was 760 or something like that.... wonder about the diff in pricing. I think my insurance charged me the lowest price in my area (which was apparently the ever popular Apthorp I think) so maybe it's just due to that! If it was me I'd be trying to order from NY to get our lower price!
Hoping we will be cycle buddies!
@Holls214 yay for another August! Not sure when I start priming, but hope to catch up to you ;) lol
ps I think the prices for iui and ivf are outrageous.... it's clearly not a luxury. We all ought to be getting at least a few cycles for free.

@Holls214 are you doing a FET in august? Ugh all fertility costs get me so fired up. Infertility is a medical condition that should be covered! I've never done PIO but just the 30 day supply of crinone/progesterone gel was $100.

@dragonette505 I got 3 vials for just over $1000. It sounded like an okay deal, most of my meds are from freedom but these came from MDR in New York/jersey & they were morons. They sent me another customers tracking info four times. I got my meds & hopefully won't need to again. Even if this next round fails, I'll likely remove the omnitrope so I won't have to worry about using them again. I learned how to mix it today so I'm getting excited to get the ball rolling, c'mon august!!
• @Aera11 yes we are! Potential FET date is august 17th. Hopefully everything will go as planned. We will be doing 1 PGS tested embryo. Yes the fact that infertility isn't looked at as a medical condition is shocking... when is your potential date? And @dragonette505 when is yours?
TTC 4 years. 7 failed IUI's with either Clomid, Femara and/or Trigger Shots. Started IVF journey in February 2017. Polyps removed in May. 1st IVF Transfer September 26th. BFP. Expected due date 6/14/18. Baby boy born 5/25/18 at 6 lb 9 oz. My bundle of joy.
• Holls214 it makes me so angry that infertility isn't considered a medical condition..its so ridiculous!! How many vials did you get for $100 for PIO? I got 2 vials and was told it should last 6 days when I start it for FET, so I'm hoping I really won't need too much more of it.

Bababatty dragonette505 did you ladies find PIO cheaper then $50 a vial in NY? Just in case I have to get more.

• I am not a great company today, just wanted to give you my update...
The nurse called me yesterday that my LH jumped to 11, and we will go one more day and see. I asked her if I should take 2 ganirelix but she said no, it could hurt more than it would help. Tested with OPK last night and this morning and the test line was almost as dark as the control line. So I might not make it to retrieval. And this morning us showed a 20, 16 and 13 , so the 13 one stopped growing and we waited one more day for nothing...
At this point all I want is to crawl into a corner and cry, but hey I am at work and life goes on...

@Holls214 that's soooo exciting to have s date! It makes it more real. Monday august 7th will hopefully be my last day on the pill as long as my cyst is cleared up. I'm considering staying a few days longer on the pill so I can go up north when my sister and her fiancé come into town...at this point, what's four more days? So if I can plan out the way I want (because that always works out haha), I'd start AF on august 16th. I get my period 4-5 days after stopping the pill so I can usually time things out pretty well.

@marioana99 I'm so sorry :( sending hugs
• @marioana99 UGH! So stressful!! Why are they not triggering you now, i wonder?
@Hopeful_mom I havent had to do PIO yet... i have the yucky suppositories (I guess because they are dirt cheap!)lol
@Aera11 No, thats super cheap for three! I'm only doing 2 vials so you got a great price for three... thats about 50 bucks cheaper per vial than i got. Unless this cycle goes horribly, i will def use it again I think...
@Holls214 Honestly im not sure... I sort of expect AF around Aug 14th or so.... if nothing sidelines me i should begin stimming around the 16th I guess.... I am still not sure if we are going to try for a fresh transfer or just do a freeze all and then do another cycle for banking.
