Welcome to Waiting Room Wednesday!
You can express your thoughts, feelings, and frustrations on not TTC and connect with others who are in the same boat. TTC can be a long journey, and having to wait makes it feel even longer -- even if it is for a good reason. I invite you to resurrect this thread at any point in the week if you have something to say. Treat this like an ongoing conversation.
Benched = involuntarily not NTNP/TTC and "out of the game," usually due to medical reasons
TTA = avoiding pregnancy by using protection or FAM, usually for non-health-related reasons __________________________________________________________________

Re: Waiting Room Wednesday - July 19
Are you benched or TTA? TTA
What brings you here? Conversation, support, passing the time
How long do you think you'll be here? Another month and a half-ish (and I'll stick around while TTC too)
How have things been going? Things have been going great. Been busy with family stuff (its birthday season for us). Trying to get myself back in a better routine for working out, both for the physical aspect but also bc it helps me mentally decompress. Also enjoying the increase in alone time (bc of H's hobbies) to force myself to unwind: doing things like painting my toenails, binge watching shows that DH doesn't want to watch, getting the house clean, and spending one on one time with DD. At the same time I'm looking forward to said hobby ending the second week of August since I'm totally co-dependent
Trying to keep busy to make the wait until baby making time go quickly!
Any R/R? H picked me up some of those Italian rainbow cookies yesterday. I'm eating some at my desk now and I'm in heaven. He's the best.
GTKY: What's your favorite style of music? Who's your favorite artist? I have eclectic taste, but for the most part listen to a lot of hard rock, haha. I do not look the part. H says I'm like the poodle in the beginning of the Secret Life of Pets, she looks so prim and proper, the owner leaves, she throws on some death metal.
My favorite band is Tool.
Are you benched or TTA? TTA
What brings you here? just waiting
How long do you think you'll be here? until September
How have things been going? We are really trying to cut back on spending and save more money. Since we decided to wait on buying a house for at least another year, the more we can save the better. I think we can have another baby in this house, but we will really need to simplify and get organized! DH has really been trying to reign in his spending habits, which is good.
Any R/R? TW for cancer/death
DH's grandpa is not doing well (lung cancer) but because DH is a contractor, we are afraid of potentially having to miss the funeral because he can afford to miss more than one day of work (they live in Kansas). /end TW
I'm so thankful for DH's job and it pays well, but with neither of us having a salary or benefits that's a lot of uncertainty and stress.
But other than that, things are going well. I'm loving being a WAHM and the prospect of only working outside the home minimally during the school year. Last year was hard being a new mom and working part time. I don't know how full time working moms do it.
GTKY: What's your favorite style of music? Who's your favorite artist?
I like all kinds, but I prefer old school Rock/Pop and The Beatles and Buddy Holly are some of my faves.
Are you benched or TTA? TTA
What brings you here? Camaraderie
How long do you think you'll be here? Another month while TTA, then however long the board stays active and I'm TTGP
How have things been going? Okay
Any R/R? I'm going for a meeting to get information about bariatric surgery tonight, in like an hour. I'm super nervous. I really want to lose my weight without needing any surgeries, but, if that's what I'm faced with I'd at least like to have some information about it.
GTKY: What's your favorite style of music? Who's your favorite artist? I love all styles of music, but mostly tend to listen to country as that's the most stations in our area. I don't have a favourite artist, though.

@lalala2004 I'm sorry to hear about your DH's grandfather. I hope you guys are able to make it to the funeral!
@izza2 I don't know if you've been to the meeting yet or not, but just remember to breathe. My husband listens to a lot of country, so that's what tends to be on in the car. Drives me a bit crazy.

What brings you here? The conversation!
How long do you think you'll be here? We're planning to start TTC around October or November, but I'll likely hang out around here until we get KU and then pop in every now and again after.
How have things been going? They're good. I'm working again, and I passed my assessment at work yesterday, which means I'm done training. I've just been in a butt load of pain the last couple of days, especially today. We had a massive rainstorm at work and sometimes the changes in atmosphere affect my back pain. I'm currently thawing some chicken so I can get them marinating for dinner tomorrow night. DH's audition didn't pan out, but that's okay.
Any R/R? I almost started crying on my way home today because of how much I'm hurting. I still haven't heard from my pain doctor about replacing the prescription form I lost, so I took the previous muscle relaxer when I got home. I was scheduled this coming Tuesday off, though, so I don't have to worry about making my gyno appointment.
GTKY: What's your favorite style of music? Who's your favorite artist? My iPod ranges from Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne to Disney and show tunes. Lately, I've been listening to a lot of Five Finger Death Punch. Favorite bands are Alice Cooper (who I got to meet last year!), Papa Roach, and Stabbing Westward.

And thank you! The meeting went well, but it really wasn't any information that I didn't already know. H and I are still thinking that I'm going to do what I can to lose some weight while in school and TTGP, and then post-graduation and post-LO (depending on how long it takes), if I still fit the criteria and haven't been able to get most of my weight off, I'll take the next step.

@lalala2004 - Sorry to hear about your husband's grandfather. Cancer sucks.
@dreamscapes_ - Back pain is the worst. I spent most of April on the couch because of a back issue. I hope it gets sorted out for you soon and you start to feel better!
Are you benched or TTA? TTA
What brings you here? Slow work week, and feeling chatty
How long do you think you'll be here? Was thinking only till Nov/Dec-ish but now maybe a year...? See below...
How have things been going? Ugh. Maybe it's my wonky BCP reaction, or maybe I had a moment of clarity. But even at 31, I'm not sure I'm ready for kids. I think I was all gung-ho about getting KU because it's what my fiance wants and also because it's what his friends wives are doing, so maybe it'd mean I'd get some friends. I don't make friends easily and I've been feeling very lonely, exacerbated by the fact that said fiance is texting with friends all night making plans and I just kind of sit in the corner. I was a Petty Betty this morning and put a checklist on our huge whiteboard (where we put grocery/to do/event lists). It included: honeymoon, new job 6 mo, new house 3 mo, sell this house, 5+ day vacation. I didn't label the list but it's a "before baby" list. He saw it, but didn't ask about it - he's a smart guy so maybe he figured it out.
Any R/R? I'll do a rave to help lighten the mood - We went to a fest last night and had chicken and rice for dinner. Such a simple meal, but it's soooooo good. And it's from one of those carnival concession stands, so not a local restaurant we can go to at any time. We only get it once a year!!
GTKY: What's your favorite style of music? Who's your favorite artist? I like lots, but I don't really care for country or rap. I would classify my style as more alternative/rock/pop/punk - I really like Weezer, Blink-182, Chevelle, Shinedown and Breaking Benjamin. That's what on repeat for now.
@lalala2004 - I always thought I'd want to wait like 4 or so years after getting married to have kids but that bio clock is ticking, too. There's just so many other "but"s and "and"s to list. At the end of the day, my brain just can't compute and I'm like that little kid... "Is this real life?"
Are you benched or TTA? TTA til Dec/Jan
What brings you here? The company of course!
How long do you think you'll be here? Probably will stick around while TTC as well, so.. who knows
How have things been going? I've been doing well. Work has stayed hectic and some days I wonder how I'll stick it out for 6+ more months... but honestly I go through stages like this where I'll have a week or two where I'm like, UGH I have to get out of here!! And then I go back to feeling okay about things. MH surprised me recently by letting me know he's thinking about changing jobs too. I knew there were some things going on at his current job that he's not a fan of, but I didn't know he was already at that point. We'll see what happens with that! I don't think it'll affect our TTC timeline, but I do wonder if it'll change his feelings at all.
Any R/R? See above I guess haha. My rave for the week is that GOT came back and it's giving me life!
GTKY: What's your favorite style of music? Who's your favorite artist? I love all kinds of stuff but I always go back to classic rock and even folk-ish music, which is what my dad always listened to when I was growing up. My favorite of all time is The Band!
@KFrob Those cookies look awesome... why have I never heard of them before??
I'm gonna have to track some down.
@lalala2004 I'll be thinking of you and your DH. It sucks to see grandparents not doing well.
@izza2 My best friend had gastric sleeve surgery several years ago and she was really successful with it. We were living together when she had it, so I was around for a lot of her pre-surgery process as well as the recovery. It is definitely not easy! She always got so upset when people thought she had taken the "easy way out" because it is such hard work. But, she had great results so it was worth it for her. Definitely take your time to think about it - I know it's not an easy decision.
@kimberbeep I completely understand how you're feeling. We have no kids yet either and even though I feel ready for kids, and feel good about our timeline to start trying, thinking about actually being a parent is intimidating! And of course there are many things that get put on hold or given up once you have a child. Like @lalala2004 said there's no such thing as perfect timing for such a big life change.
@dreamscapes_ So sorry you're hurting! I hope you get some pain relief quickly!
